Re: Lighting green screen - 19 years agoIf this is a DV shoot then go get DV Matte Pro. Doesnt care if you light it badly. :-) Amazing tool. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: best storage option for 500+gigs - 19 years agoI like Promax's raid storage solution becuase of the removable drives. I don't believe anyone else does that. or their FW solution I'm cool with FW drives and always have been. But...your mileage may varyby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: BWF Workflow for Features - 19 years agoVery cool Mitch. Thanks for that. Hey, been awhile since you've been around. Hope you are busy and well Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Music Clip - 19 years agoThats a cool site. Folks should know about it. This your site Shane? mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: BWF Workflow for Features - 19 years agoThere is also this from Phil Ashbyby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Thanks Michael - 19 years agoCasablanca does it right on that one got to admit although sometimes you dont want it too. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Memory allocation issue 3.0 - 19 years agoLike Nick says its from experience of what works best. Any more than 180000 is a waste. FCP 3 won't use it. And yes, you can consider 180000 somewhat arbitrary. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Memory allocation issue 3.0 - 19 years agoThere is no math to do. That 180000 number is what you are allocating to FCP. Nothing more. It may be that something else is going on here too, but start with allocating more memory. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Flop effect? Move from Motion to FCP??? - 19 years agoVERY cool! :-) thanks Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Flop effect? Move from Motion to FCP??? - 19 years agoGreat tip Nick Can I use it? Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Memory allocation issue 3.0 - 19 years agowayne granzin wrote: > any particular reason why you wouldnt move on to OSX and latest > version of fcp? Good suggestion but dont do it until you finish this project. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Memory allocation issue 3.0 - 19 years agoOK, that means you have 512 + 256 for a total of 768 mgbs of REAL Ram. That indeed is plenty. Now where are you getting this 138000 number from? Did you look in the Get INfo>memory under the FILE menu? Here is the definitive way to allocate memory to FCP 3 in OS9 you can put 180000 in both Minimum and Preffered boxes Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: standard audio levels - 19 years agoI dont know. I do my mixing in Pro Tool LE and bring it back in at 48khz, AIF and play it and it's through the roof loud and peaking all over the place. Drop it to -20 and all is well and good. Same thing when I import sound effects and temp music. drop it to -12 and all is good. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Cross disolve issue - 19 years agoLook up Handles in the manual or read this mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Memory allocation issue 3.0 - 19 years agoWell, there is your answer. You cant run FCP 3 on 138 mgs of ram. Buy another 512 stick and put that in, then allocate what I said above and all will be well Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Memory allocation issue 3.0 - 19 years agoWith FCP quit, find the FCP Icon. Select it. (Click once) Go to the File Menu and select GET INFO >Memory. Allocate 180000 to "preferred" and the other one (forget what it is) That should do it Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Flop effect? Move from Motion to FCP??? - 19 years agoFlop filter should be in Effects>Video Filter> Perspective mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: MPEG-1 to MPEG-2 - 19 years agoI think Mpeg StreamClip might of handled thisby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: HD with an iPod? - 19 years agoThat was DVCPRO HD Victor. Not much bigger than DV mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Green editors - 19 years agoMy Dad was born in Wooburn MA with the name Larkin. He was later adopted and took the name Horton (English). Married my Mom who's name is Doherty. Both families came over from Ireland. Mom's was from County Kerry. Dad's, not sure. My Dad never knew his real father so there might be a bit of something else in my tired blood. One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub toby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Color correction in FCP - Post-Production - 19 years agoBring out the three way color corrector and start banging away. It's an amazing tool in the hands of one who knows how to use it. Can you fix all the problems? No. But if the information is there you can fix it up pretty darn well. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Green editors - 19 years agoAnd from one true 100% Irishman, "right back at ya, mate." Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: buying new camera... - 19 years agoUse FCE to capture the whole tape and then bring it into FCP using the AIC codec. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Audio sync problem - 19 years agoNah Just trash your prefs and try again. Make sure capture and sequence settings match and no TC breaks. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Audio sync problem - 19 years agoHow you going in? FW?
