Re: Syncing XDCAM rushes in FCP - 10 years agoIt's not so unusual; not every editor has the time, knowledge, responsibility or an assistant to use PluralEyes or some other system to synch up master audio-- in some workflows that's actually left to the sound designer. So editors cut the production track which comes with the footage. They use heavy iron for those, but sometimes attached to Final Cut 7 or Avid Symphony front ends, or even Resolve or Quantel hardware, to create deliverables for network. Mastered audio also comes in. I've only had one complete blackout when a nearby pole transformer blew during a storm. Plenty of time to save and shut down. That's the way it should be. Dramatic or documentary, there are always minor changes in acoustic before or afterward, when RT is normally acquired. I don't use deliberately- recorded room tone for anything but MOS shots they're usually recorded around. I still use Update 1.0.2, under 10.7, and with everything else installed this was transferred over to the fresh partition I used to test the Mavericks upgrade. I work in it regularly, in longform, utilizing QuickTime 7.6.6. @Dennis; I agree, no rush, but the latest QT X has nice features, much better behaved, and the Apple apps are much more handsome. Related question- suppose for storage savings you transcode card footage to ProRes422 LT or Proxy and then want to uprez for deliverables. Set your camera to VCR or VTR or Playback mode, connect FireWire cable, and navigate to areas you want. Download the FCPX 1006 User Guide, it's all there. It caused to crash, then crash again every time I reopened it." So sad that Apple needlessly forced a reinvention of the wheel. Some cards require you configure an ugly extra-power solution. Both these give me the heebie jeebies. Some cards are limited to higher OSX versions, check that, because if you have a system with a range of boot volumes, which allows testing upgrades without disturbing known working solutions,by Loren Miller - Café LA |
