I can't seem to find any info online... need to read/use MXF's - 9 years agoCool - I wasn't getting that - for some reason it looked to me like I had to buy it all over againby Jewel - Café LA - X Updating to 10.1.4? I can't seem to find any info online... need to read/use MXF's - 9 years agoUpdating to 10.1.4? I can't seem to find any info online... need to read/use MXF's Longtime FCP7 & Avid before that ... I have FCPX 10.0.6, but didn't bother with it much due to friends' horror stories & whatnot... Now I'm getting more requests to cut in MXF file, so I was psyched to learn that 10.1.4 addressed native cutting in MXFs. (checked wiki, etc) - 12 years agoHi, My apologies - this is actually part of a workaround for me - I'm dealing with a producer who gave me (among other weird dailies formats) a ref movie in FLV, and I'm just trying to create new miniDV footage of the ref so I can match cut to it (He's on PC-based Avid, I'm on Mac-based Avid, finally input a QT of the FLV into FCP 7, just to re-output to tape , to re-capture in Avid, - all juby Jewel - Café LA Canon camera +Avid MC6 on PC => Avid MC6 on iMac => not relinking media - 12 years agoHi, Thanks for running this forum - man am I stuck! So, I'm working with a small company, editing weddings for them. Nice people. The problem(s) are: shows are shot on a Canon / cards (I believe); some footage arrives to me as MXF, other ftg in raw (I downloaded Canon AMA softwares); originally cut on a PC w/ Avid MC6... then given to me on drives - I work on MC6/ on an iMac. I was still missing key numbers, which I couldn't access, but I eventually was helped the following week. Now I'm dealing with: AMA relink to native Canon-sourced vid vs. import MXF files from orig = dropped frames? Avid customer service - can't register - 12 years agoThanks Unfortunately, I already maxed the demo, which was why I bought the MC6. Still unable to register.by Jewel - Avid Media Composer Re: Argh! Avid customer service - can't register - 12 years agoThank you so much for asking on their forums for me. I can't believe Avid (as a company) still doesn't get this. There really is no reason for this sort of snafu. Proof: This never happens with Mac/Apple. When I worked in features, we were all Mac & Avid. You never heard us hating on Apple. Avid customer service - can't register - 12 years agoThanks - yes, I'm absolutely sure I'm entering the right number. It's on a specific sticker that comes in the box. The number say: MC06Sxxxxxxx. = Media Composer6, student/academic version, number. It's the number I'm supposed to echange at their student ID verify page to get the regular number. Avid customer service - can't register - 12 years agoOne of the main reasons I quit Avid years ago was their horrendous "customer service". Their CS rep Marianna assured me it wasn't hat way anymore - just before she went on vacation after taking my info & without helping me! My Avid student Verification number doesn't work. That's the # they sent on a sticker with the disk. He gave me a USB3-only drive (no FW) and I was supposed to pull the projects & media off of it & cut on my iMac (2.16 GHz Intel Core2 Duo). I'm using MC6, and I haven't used Avid in awhile (coing back from FCP) but this should be more straight-forward than the problems I'm having. Thank you very much!by Jewel - Café LA Suggested external FW drive? - 14 years agoI used to get the G drives, but I heard they're less stable now, and that another brand of external is more stable - I'm thinking my client probably has funds for one 500gig external FW.by Jewel - Café LA Re: Stutter on pretty basic show - 14 years agoExactly what I thought - but everyone keeps telling me that "fast USB" is different. So - not different? Just want to make sure I wasn't going nuts. (Still might be, but maybe not re: USB.)by Jewel - Café LA Stutter on pretty basic show - 14 years agoHi - I have a pretty basic show (short) that went through a few weird permutations to get here, and now is stuttering. Actually, worse than stuttering - it's playing one long frame per cut. I think they shot it SD, but then did their main cut on an Avid Liquid. Then they re-digitized and re-assembled the whole show in FCP on another machine. Also output a QT as a ref. The gave me thby Jewel - Café LA Avid Liquid to: FCP 6.0.3 - 14 years agoI'm trying to make some fixes on an hour-long show a guy cut on his Avid Liquid (PC). I was able to export an EDL from Liquid on his machine, and brought his external hard drive over to my FCP (dual core Intel iMac), but of course there are problems. The main problems are: The EDL I imported into my FCP seems to have weird clip names that don't match any of his media names. So... but... if quicktime won't play back the .m2v correctly for squeeze, what are my options for reducing file size (to fit on the DVD) and maintaining Aspect ratio? I can't get both?by Jewel - Café LA Ugh - still coming out squeezed - 14 years agoI don't get it - the (SC QT PAL).mov looked fine, and I selected DV PAL anamorphic in Compressor - why is it still squeezed?
