Re: ProRes 422HQ - 8 years agoHave you applied any encoding filters by accident? Namely a gamma adjustment.by J.Corbett - Café LA Video On Demand - CCNA - 9 years agoI have been wanting to get a new certification to widen my video skills. What i have been looking for is a cert. for Video on Demand systems. However it all seems like a hidden art as i have yet to find a single place i can go for this. Does anyone have any idea on how to get training for this? Does anyone have a rough idea on what it involves?by J.Corbett - Café LA Desktop Production Notes (solo or crew) - 9 years agoHas anyone came across a system that allows one to put production tickets on your desktop? We are getting slammed now. our production has increased by at least 30%. Now email and crm just will not do. 4 of us work in the same office and i have the heaviest load as the lead on all projects. So i have been old schooling it for my production notes with a regular note book. We meet every morning tby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: 4K in FCP7 ? - 9 years agoThis is just a guess at a solution but i see no reason it would not work. You could edit through a proxy. Offline edit at say 2/3 or 1/2 resolution and then output using the original res. Also I once did a 15s commercial where i created 2 footage folders, one with the 4k originals and one with converted 1080p clips. File names were the same but the folder names were different. When i was dby J.Corbett - Café LA CS6 & Maverick - 9 years agoI found a Mac Cylinder for sale running Mavericks. I want to put my CS6 on it. I wanted to know if anyone had used the new mac in this config has ran CS6 with it? Would i be better of with a true 5,1 westmere 6core tower running CS6 Masters suite?by J.Corbett - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: 2.5inch Raids & 4k - 9 years ago7k = 7200rpm but the fact that there are not many say its not there. I just purchased a 5,1 6-core westmere. I am planning on running a thunderbolt card on it. I just wanted a 4 or 2 bay that i could carry around from bay to bay. the HD element i have at home just doesn't cut it as a carry around. I have been using a studio downtown as an alternative location for about 7months and yes carrying tby J.Corbett - Café LA 2.5inch Raids & 4k - 9 years agoHas anyone here successfully implemented a 7K-2.5inch 4bay raid solution? Maybe using Raid5 or hopefully i can get away with Raid1 on an esata connection.by J.Corbett - Café LA .ts weirdness - Looking for a better converter. - 9 years agohave been using DV Media Converter to create .ts (transport stream) files for billboards. It is a very simple drag and drop, one click program. Lately its been giving me plenty of anomalies in files. The program can take a full mpg or mp4 file and convert it to .ts and yes that does include both audio and video (as one file). Is there another program out there that can do the same?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: MTS files in FCP 7-Problem - 9 years ago@dcouzin Pull some 422 HQ into your NLE and ad some effects and then compare that to the same effects on a PR422 file. You can see it a bit that way. I truly believe you on the sharpness. I just never worried about it as long as the CamOP gave me clean stuff. On the GH4 they say that the 4k @4:2:0 can be converted to 1080p and become 4:2:2 but the only difference i have noticed is greby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Too many tracks! - what to do - 9 years ago@Nick IMHO I am for the transcoding option. I have yet to see those extra tracks mean anything. Its normally an operator error. Don't for get that Soundtrack use to default to 5.1 and if you did not know that you would think there was something to those extra empty audio tracks. If the audio is already sync'ed to the video and there is no hand off to the audio room then you will be ok tby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: external drive for MAC Tower - 9 years agoYou can do it with a single drive but i would suggest a raid enclosure that will allow 0,1,5,10 Raid protocols. In this realm you can get …… > 4Bay Mercury Elite Pro from OWC. > Caldigit HD Element - (more expensive but very very reliable) > G-Tech G-Speed 4bay - You could also just get 3 more internal drives. One could be 4TB and the other 2 can be as much as 2TB(maby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Metal to Metal sound in my tower - 9 years ago@VPiccin Funny you say that. I got 2 cans of air and blew it out. The stopped about 60% of the noise but its was still there. So if you don't laugh at my older GFX card …. I removed the ATI x1900 That i install back 1964 and the sound was gone. Now it runs as quiet as a mouse. I am planning on upgrading to to the last 6 or 12core machine (profile 5,1 Westmere). This machine does whaby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: MTS files in FCP 7-Problem - 9 years agoQuotedcouzin Oh, why this opinion? Even FCP7 almost succeeds in editing H264. Doesn't FCPX succeed? Doesn't Premiere? Well, If you don't mind cursing at your computer and wishing you had converted to something else, then yes Premier can handle h264. (speaking for cs4-cs6) I have only had h264 in FCPX 3times and yes it can edit h264 better than FCP7 or premier but still its a pain in the bootyby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: MTS files in FCP 7-Problem - 9 years agoJust a note. In my opinion you should never use H264 to edit with in any NLE. If you used clipwrap on MTS files it is not converting it is simply fooling your NLE. Use to work well back in FCP6&7 but i have heard bad s couple of stories on its not the same in fcpX. Take all of the clips and put them in something like Handbrake or Adobe Media Encoder and convert them to prores 422 (nby J.Corbett - Café LA What is the best package for the money on an MC bundle - 9 years agoOk i have used FCP & Premier for a long time. I can also use Vegas a little. I want to get proficient with Media Composer now. When i look to buy the software there are several options. It seems like its best to buy a bundle than to buy things like Symphony separately. My strongest combination of programs is Premier, PS, Audition and AE. I feel i can do it all with those. My workflow willby J.Corbett - Avid Media Composer Re: Metal to Metal sound in my tower - 9 years agoNick i read this about a month ago but did not reply … Thanks sorry about that. I did do a back up. It did get me to thinking about how i store things. This could be a separate topic but i was wondering… Any 2 - 4 standalone hdd's like the 2tb mercury elites or g-tech, can be use in JOBD, Raid 0, Raid 1, or Raid 10. Is this correct? I am kinda feed up with Raid5 my 4k work is raby J.Corbett - Café LA Metal to Metal sound in my tower - 9 years agoI working on a 2,1 and suddenly when i wake my computer i am hearing a metal on metal sound. It dissipates once the computer is on for 2mins but not completely. If i turn my attention to the sound of the computer i can still lightly hear but its very, very faint. After about 30mins it then is completely gone. The start-up is where it is loud. I air-dusted the inside but its still there.by J.Corbett - Café LA Edius Pro or Elite - 10 years agoHas anyone messed around with this system yet? It kind looks like the merged Premier with the best parts of Avid and FCP then added Motion. The interface is sexy.by J.Corbett - Café LA The Effect Of Fiverr on the creative industry? - 10 years agoI have used fiver for about 7 voice overs in the past year. On average i paid 30 per V/O. I would even say to get your stuff on time 30. would be the average. However there are people on there that do 15-30sec animation for like 40 bucks. In my opinion they could easily draw 30-45% of the freelance design, motion graphic, and soon editing market. Some of the examples are really nice. However,by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: HDD Dock for hiding drives - 10 years agoHmmm Not bad. They still come up in a finder window using VPiccin's solution. I guess i will try it like this for a while to see if it workable. I was hoping there was a way to stack them like an adobe suite or FCS3.by J.Corbett - Café LA HDD Dock for hiding drives - 10 years agoI was wondering was there a way to hide the drives on the desktop in 10.7.5. I have 10 drives showing on my desktop. I was hoping that it could be a drive dock… like something i could drag my drive icons to that could be opened in a click. Even if it would act exactly like the dock it would be great. I just want a naked desktop with as little in the way of icons showing. Can you make theby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Can Amazon enforce its patent ?? - 10 years agoYeah. I think I am gonna file a patent on using a cam stabilizer to create a floating motion to film someone walking. Then maybe one for using jkl to scrub thru footage instead of dragging the the tl cursor. Then I am taking universal and Spike Lee to court. Lolby J.Corbett - Café LA Can Amazon enforce its patent ?? - 10 years agothe news is a few weeks old but …. I do not intend on paying Amazon a single dime and I'm not going to stop filming on white. This is way past ridiculous. Can anyone come up with a harsher way of saying stupid? Look at the diagram its an quickly/novice setup also.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The cost of editing is becoming perpetual. - 10 years agoI was sales first. In running my own business I have learned that you only upgrade when your projects dictate. It's more cost effective. This does not mean that the quality is any less than a production house that's got the latest software. I tend to lean more to getting better footage and actors than more up to date software. These are the only things that really effect what the client seesby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The cost of editing is becoming perpetual. - 10 years agoI see it as metering my tools also. I have cs4-6, however I have been using cs5 since it came out. I have a good amount of projects each year and cs5 is completely customized to my working style. AE does everything I need and so does the rest of the suite. I have c4d r12 and that dies what I need. I do not have a reason to use cs6 yet but got it with plans for the cylinder. If businesby J.Corbett - Café LA The cost of editing is becoming perpetual. - 10 years agoI have never agreed with paying Adobe for the rest of my life to keep access to their tools. However now RedGiant is beginning its transition to subscription only use by launching RedGiant Universe. It start free and then you can pay monthly for more exotic tools. In their video they say your paying for access NOT OWNERSHIP. Eventually, editing will cost 300USD or more per month for the lifeby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Liable Through A Fictional Film - 10 years agoSorry for the slow response Q1 is always crazy. 'Chernobyl Diaries trailer ripped off' Wow, thats crazy. He should get paid for that. My thing is i want to take an icident that is from a news story that has a beginning and end already. I just want to continue the story with a different outcome. I want to show a character that is effected by due to fragmented information. The outcomeby J.Corbett - Café LA Liable Through A Fictional Film - 10 years agoThink of any violent movie. The violence in it is fiction for the most part. Texas Chain Saw Massacre was based on a true story but i have heard many times that the embellished it quite a lot. It is possible that some crazy person might even try to copy cat those killings. If some one did, would they be liable? IF NOT….. The could a movie maker take an actual real story and change theby J.Corbett - Café LA Configuring The New Mac Cylinder to match what you have. - 10 years agoSo i was looking over the final specs of the new macpro. I have been sitting on my budget for one about 1 year now. Its cheaper than expected but as i looked at the specs i started wondering. I have 2 external bays that are esata not Thundarbolt. I have been using the BM Intensity for my external but in the new mac i don't see how its compatible. I also have the MXO2 which is connected toby J.Corbett - Café LA |
