OT: Our film "GIRLFRIEND" is being released - 11 years ago

Hey Michael, Just wanted to follow up with you and the LAFCPUG community that our film "Girlfriend" is being released in NYC. AND our trailer made it to the Apple Trailer website!!! I have to say, Apple really has some nerve to push everyone out of the NAB event, put on a dog an pony show, create all this hype and under deliver. I know that this is just version 1 of FCP X. Apple still has a lot of work to do. I am not happy or excited especially after reading these articles. What do you guys think? If you are going to make this a pro app. You need to cater to the pros! Can't believe there is no xml's, no omf's, no edl's, can't spread your screen over two monitors. Stuck with just the standard view. Really not cool.

It is a pretty big download so the way I see it, by the time your download is complete they should have the next version ready to upgrade

I completely agree with Michael. We should get the training video from Larry watch then decide when to download and check it out. The beautiful part about that is that it doesn't take over FCP7. What really concerns me is that there is no ability to bring a FCP 7 project file into FCP X. That is a MAJOR DEAL. I am going to remain hopeful and think they will adjust that. I also agree with L

I really hope you can adjust your screen. We only have seen images with two video track layers. I know you can collapse or next the video tracks but I really want to know if you can make the timeline FULL size on one monitor and have your bin and canvas window on another. That is a big one for me.

So now that Apple is all about the app store, does anybody know how the heck you get the programs back onto your hard drive if you have to wipe clean your HD. Also with Lion, how do you do an erase and install if you are downloading the app from the web and there is no install disk to boot from the C drive?

I have used REDCine-X and it TAKES FOREVER. I use the log and transfer in fcp. It is fairly quick and it is easy to go back to the R3D files. If you use REDCine-X i believe you need another program to create an xml to go back to the red files. It is a longer process. I have cut 3 features on the red and used the workflow that I mentioned above. I have also gone out to a 35 mm print from

Joe, Try and get them to allow you at least 13 weeks. Tell them anything short of that WILL compromise the film. Make sure that you let them know that you need your time to sit with the material as well as time away from the material. I am actually going through this myself. I finally have put my foot down. You as the editor have all the power in the world. You keep the project file and hard drives until you are paid in FULL. Key points to have in a contract (I am currently writing one for myself). 1. Late fees accru if payment is one week late. Two weeks late gives you the right to abandon the project and look for
