OT: Our film "GIRLFRIEND" is being released - 11 years agoHey Michael, Just wanted to follow up with you and the LAFCPUG community that our film "Girlfriend" is being released in NYC. AND our trailer made it to the Apple Trailer website!!! Once again, thank you for having me for show and tell. And thanks again to all of you who have helped me through the years with your words of wisdom and experience. You are the best!!! Jeffby Jeff C - News and Announcements Re: X is here (also new Motion and Compressor) - 11 years agoI have to say, Apple really has some nerve to push everyone out of the NAB event, put on a dog an pony show, create all this hype and under deliver. I know that this is just version 1 of FCP X. But I think they are way too premature to put something like this out and say that it is still for professionals. This makes just as much sense as saying "Sure we can fly our plane, it is a greby Jeff C - Café LA - X Re: X is here (also new Motion and Compressor) - 11 years agoApple still has a lot of work to do. I am not happy or excited especially after reading these articles. What do you guys think? If you are going to make this a pro app. You need to cater to the pros! Can't believe there is no xml's, no omf's, no edl's, can't spread your screen over two monitors. Stuck with just the standard view. Really not cool.by Jeff C - Café LA - X Re: X is here (also new Motion and Compressor) - 11 years agoIt is a pretty big download so the way I see it, by the time your download is complete they should have the next version ready to upgradeby Jeff C - Café LA - X Re: X is here (also new Motion and Compressor) - 11 years agoI completely agree with Michael. We should get the training video from Larry watch then decide when to download and check it out. The beautiful part about that is that it doesn't take over FCP7. What really concerns me is that there is no ability to bring a FCP 7 project file into FCP X. That is a MAJOR DEAL. I am going to remain hopeful and think they will adjust that. I also agree with Lby Jeff C - Café LA - X Re: X is here (also new Motion and Compressor) - 11 years agoI really hope you can adjust your screen. We only have seen images with two video track layers. I know you can collapse or next the video tracks but I really want to know if you can make the timeline FULL size on one monitor and have your bin and canvas window on another. That is a big one for me.by Jeff C - Café LA - X Re: App Store Question - 11 years agoThanks for your words of wisdom! I appreciate it and your time. Jeffby Jeff C - Café LA App Store Question - 11 years agoSo now that Apple is all about the app store, does anybody know how the heck you get the programs back onto your hard drive if you have to wipe clean your HD. Also with Lion, how do you do an erase and install if you are downloading the app from the web and there is no install disk to boot from the C drive?by Jeff C - Café LA Re: Best method for transcoding red footage to pro res? - 11 years agoI have used REDCine-X and it TAKES FOREVER. I use the log and transfer in fcp. It is fairly quick and it is easy to go back to the R3D files. If you use REDCine-X i believe you need another program to create an xml to go back to the red files. It is a longer process. I have cut 3 features on the red and used the workflow that I mentioned above. I have also gone out to a 35 mm print fromby Jeff C - Café LA Re: How long does it take to cut a feature? - 11 years agoJoe, Try and get them to allow you at least 13 weeks. Tell them anything short of that WILL compromise the film. Make sure that you let them know that you need your time to sit with the material as well as time away from the material. These producers would love for us to spend 20 hours a day 6 days a week if they could get away with it. Remember it is not just the amount of time you sby Jeff C - Café LA Re: OT: contract with clients - 11 years agoI am actually going through this myself. I finally have put my foot down. You as the editor have all the power in the world. You keep the project file and hard drives until you are paid in FULL. Key points to have in a contract (I am currently writing one for myself). 1. Late fees accru if payment is one week late. Two weeks late gives you the right to abandon the project and look forby Jeff C - Café LA Re: OT: Feed back on reel - 11 years agoGrafixjoe, WOW! That means a lot coming from you. Thank you so very much I really appreciate it and your time. Sincerely, Jeffby Jeff C - Show and Tell OT: Feed back on reel - 11 years agoHey Everyone, Hope you all had a great week. I was just looking for a little feedback on my reel that I have been working on forever. I think I have it at a pretty good place. If you feel so inclined please watch and I would love your professional feedback. Here is the link to my reel/site: Thanks in advance! Sorry Guysby Jeff C - Café LA Re: screen has gone negative - 11 years agoYou may have hit these buttons or someone is playing a prank on you. Hit control/option/command and the number 8 at the same time!by Jeff C - Café LA RED Conform Question - 13 years agoHey I have a rather interesting situation! So I cut a feature that was shot on the RED. Cut in FCP v 7.0 did the offline using Pro Res 422. We are a week away from pic lock and I am getting ready to hand off to our colorist. Here is the deal. A rather big company has offered to do our color grading for a phenomenal price. However they have never worked out a workflow for the RED camera beby Jeff C - Café LA Re: Guide track vs Iso's - 13 years agoFirst of all thank you all for taking the time to respond to my post. strypes "I don't get you. What do you mean by iso" - Sorry if I wasn't clear in my description. Yes I was referring to the isolated tracks that were recorded on set by a diva then dumped to a hard drive and delivered digitally to me. ( Mic 1, 2, 3, boom, etc.) As far as synching rushes as the first stepby Jeff C - Café LA Guide track vs Iso's - 13 years agoHello Everyone, and a Happy Thanksgiving to start! Basics: Cutting a feature shot on the red. Using FCP 7.0, OSX 10.5.8, Running a Dual 3.0 Quad 8 Core, 8 Gigs of Ram and most importantly, drinking Corona beers with 6.7% Alcohol content! Situation: I have been cutting using the guide track for the obvious reasons, not having to deal with 4 or 5 tracks of audio while cutting. My post soby Jeff C - Café LA |
