Dan, I see ads for FCP Editors paying $10 to $25 per hour and it makes me sick. No offense & I am not trying to scare you off...but Degrees don't mean diddly for an Editor / Post Production Specialist...the Demo Reel is the thing. You have to have a kick-a$$ Demo, be able to deliver on deadline and be super-accomodating to clients / Producers that sit with you and work with you. You can't cby grafixjoe - Café LA

Along with Shane & Alan's suggestions, must-haves are After Effects 6.5 Pro / Photoshop CS2 / Illustrator CS2. I would do research at to get specs on hardware options. G-RAIDS tested VERY good (FW800 External). You might want to get Avid Express Pro so you can widen your company's project options. Nick, I had the same issue you had. I uninstalled FCP, did an Archive & install of OS 10.3.6 / FCP HD 4.5 / QT 6.5.2 and the issue went away. I am still there today (have NOT upgraded to 10.3.9 / QT 7). Maybe you have a faulty RAM stick? Keep the faith...we will fix this. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA

I don't even LIKE koolaid. I am not a follower. Nobody ever sold me on Apple. I have never listened to a keynote...don't even know what Stevie's voice sounds like. I bought into the "Mac thing" because they were powerful and easy to use (first Mac was a PowerMac 9500/150) - even for Creative types like myself. My G5 doesn't crash at all while the PC guys in my room go down once a week.by grafixjoe - Café LA

I have a DAC-2 with nothing bad to say about it. Transcodes regular VHS / DVD players / BetaSP just fine (even with broken timecode / control track). I would highly recommend any unit from the "DAC" line. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA

koz, There's an After Effects plug-in (3rd party - will work with FCP HD) in the DigiEffects Delirium collection called DE Channel Delay. It allows you to manipulate & offset the color channels in "X" & "Y". This may work for you with a few feathered masks. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA

Dave, No disrespect to your purchase, and I hate to tell people that have already made purchases that I think they made a mistake... but I am a big believer in doing MASSIVE research before putting any system components together. I contacted LaCie personally and grilled them about their FW800 drives and told them I was going to need it for HIGH VOLUME - 24/7 Audio / Video editing. That said...by grafixjoe - Café LA
