Re: average wage for fcp editor? - 19 years agoLOL - Mike ! THAT'S WHAT I HEARD !!! ROTFLMAO (j/k) OT: Hey Mike...those Vioxx dirtbags spammed the Motion forum (posts were deleted). Can we do something about this before it becomes a trend??? - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: average wage for fcp editor? - 19 years agoDan, I see ads for FCP Editors paying $10 to $25 per hour and it makes me sick. No offense & I am not trying to scare you off...but Degrees don't mean diddly for an Editor / Post Production Specialist...the Demo Reel is the thing. You have to have a kick-a$$ Demo, be able to deliver on deadline and be super-accomodating to clients / Producers that sit with you and work with you. You can't cby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: OT: Should we force registration for the forums? - 19 years agoDo it, Mike - force registration. I am sure you won't get any arguments from the faithful here. The forums all over are getting spammed. Locking them out is the best way to prevent it. I never liked spam - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Building a mac editing system - 19 years agoAlong with Shane & Alan's suggestions, must-haves are After Effects 6.5 Pro / Photoshop CS2 / Illustrator CS2. I would do research at to get specs on hardware options. G-RAIDS tested VERY good (FW800 External). You might want to get Avid Express Pro so you can widen your company's project options. I use both and they both work great on the same machine. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Learning Motion/FCP5... hardware path advice? - 19 years agoLook at the "RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS" (not the "Minimum Requirements". That will cover the suite nicely.by grafixjoe - Café LA OT: Quicktime 6.5.2. Reinstaller... - 19 years agoDearest Boyz & Girlz, Apple wouldn't post a REINSTALLER for an older version if there weren't problems with QT 7. 'Nuff said - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: AT WITS END!!!!!! - 19 years agoNick, I had the same issue you had. I uninstalled FCP, did an Archive & install of OS 10.3.6 / FCP HD 4.5 / QT 6.5.2 and the issue went away. I am still there today (have NOT upgraded to 10.3.9 / QT 7). Maybe you have a faulty RAM stick? Keep the faith...we will fix this. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: AT WITS END!!!!!! - 19 years agoNick, I recommend you UNINSTALL FCP HD. Here's the Apple Article that tells you how: - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Did we drink the koolaid? - 19 years agoAdam, Thanks for the expert Decaf suggestion...don't know how I made it this far in the business without your input on that subject. I should have contacted you sooner so as to save myself 9 years of working late nights & weekends and just sleep...OOOooooOOOoooooooommmmmmmmm Ahhhhh, that's much better. And thanx for clearing up the "computers are inanimate objects" thing...I hadby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: 364 Days - 19 years agoG5's are gonna ship in 2007...let's not get ahead of ourselves.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Did we drink the koolaid? - 19 years ago"...Some say that Macs are more stable and crash less than PCs. That's not true. Both are just computers that crash equally. If somebody says that their computer NEVER crashes . . then they are either extremely lucky . . or they are hiding the facts to defend their own prefered platform." That may be not be true for you... but it is in our Gfx Department (6 - G5's, 3 - PC's) - your staby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: nasty halo with keying - 19 years agoThe best DV keying program I've heard of to date. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Dual G4 Editing 4 Sale - 19 years agoThis thread belongs in the "Jobs & Announcements" forum:by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Did we drink the koolaid? - 19 years agoI don't even LIKE koolaid. I am not a follower. Nobody ever sold me on Apple. I have never listened to a keynote...don't even know what Stevie's voice sounds like. I bought into the "Mac thing" because they were powerful and easy to use (first Mac was a PowerMac 9500/150) - even for Creative types like myself. My G5 doesn't crash at all while the PC guys in my room go down once a week.by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: any DataVideo DAC-10 users? - 19 years agoI have a DAC-2 with nothing bad to say about it. Transcodes regular VHS / DVD players / BetaSP just fine (even with broken timecode / control track). I would highly recommend any unit from the "DAC" line. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Soundtrack Pro runs very slow - 19 years ago"...I could do that but I'm more interested in hearing from FCP users that have integrated it into their workflow." That's where they would be - talking about STP. Just trying to help, G. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Soundtrack Pro runs very slow - 19 years agoPost your inquiry on the Sountrack Pro forum:by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Porn Color Attributes - 19 years agokoz, There's an After Effects plug-in (3rd party - will work with FCP HD) in the DigiEffects Delirium collection called DE Channel Delay. It allows you to manipulate & offset the color channels in "X" & "Y". This may work for you with a few feathered masks. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: 1 Terabyte LaCie drive - 19 years ago"...the more afraid you are of your system, the more stuff goes wrong. It's like the computer can sense when you're not confident, and the very thing you fear would happen, tends to happen." You are either protected or not." ...my DAUGHTER? Wow... that's pretty personal, don't you think Ian? By using smaller faster units, if one goes down, you don't lose it all. THAT'S the protection. Not me. - Joey Post Edited (06-01-05 21:49)by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: 1 Terabyte LaCie drive - 19 years agoYes sir... I would rather have 3 - G-RAID FW800 320 Gig'ers than a 1 - TB doorstop. G-RAID: Lose 1 - still have 2. 1 TB: Lose 1 - lose it all. - Joeyby grafixjoe - Café LA Re: 1 Terabyte LaCie drive - 19 years agoDave, No disrespect to your purchase, and I hate to tell people that have already made purchases that I think they made a mistake... but I am a big believer in doing MASSIVE research before putting any system components together. I contacted LaCie personally and grilled them about their FW800 drives and told them I was going to need it for HIGH VOLUME - 24/7 Audio / Video editing.
