Re: OT: Despite new CPU options, Apple reportedly questioning future of Mac Pro - 12 years agoI disagree that anything is "moving away from Apple". I dislike that word "cheaper". My opinion is that everything is just miniaturizing & consolidating. I have not worked on a tower in my freelance business for almost 3 years and have not needed it. My new MBP Quad (4 cores + 4 virtual cores) with the SSD is just as fast (if not faster on some things) as my studio 8 coreby grafixjoe - Café LA OT: Despite new CPU options, Apple reportedly questioning future of Mac Pro - 12 years agoCould be the end coming for Mac Towers (kinda feel this coming)...by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Website Creation Advice Needed - hire out or do it myself - 12 years agoHey Ron, A bit of an honest Reality Check: If you want to "market" something, DO NOT be cheap and do a half-baked website on your own. People have the illusion they can buy software and that makes them a Designer / Editor / Compositor with no previous experience. It does not. Dreamweaver is a good choice...for Designers that know how to use it. Someone is willing to charge $60by grafixjoe - Café LA Re: Automatic Duck is now free! - 12 years agoYeah Ben...agree...the Pro Import AE is nice to have on hand for FX / Compositing work for sure. My friend Dave Helmly and the boyz are coming to do another product Demo at our studio soon...looking forward to what's coming in 2012 from Adobe. New Macbook Pros... - 12 years ago...that's because they are not really "New Macbook Pros"...they are the same MBPs with a small processor upgrade and a Thunderbolt RAID / cable option when purchasing. I hear there is a case redesign coming down the road so that's when I will consider purchase again. I was given a 500 GB Rugged as a transport drive by a client. I warn them all the time that pinching pennies can be dangerous and in all probability it will fail at any time. I would NEVER USE A LACIE FOR REAL WORK. I back up my transport files on my own Time Machine along with my CalDigitVR. My advice to someone who has no experience at all? Stay away from Apple editing products completely (for at least 1 year) and start with Adobe Production Premium CS 5.5 (CS 6 coming soon). You still need a 3rd party app to bring in the XML as well.
