Re: OT: notes on a short movie - 11 years agoThanks guys for your input. Interesting. I also noticed that "timing" is everything as when showint the movie. What I mean by is that I sometimes made the mistake to kind of "forcing" someone to watch the movie. "Forcing" by asking a friend to watch at a time where he/she didn't expect to have to sit down and watch a movie - 7 min, but still.... I love to watchby xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: notes on a short movie - 11 years agoVery good points Derek, thanks. Now that you mention about rough promos vs. rough movies I totally agree with you. I guess we have to go back to our instincts. Since we showed the first rough we lost our spontaneity and started to think in terms of "addressing notes". Instead we should have done what you suggested and simply "listen" to what people said and not take everythiby xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: notes on a short movie - 11 years agoGreat input, Derek. I should have specified that the writer/director is also ... the producer. And there is no budget for editing. I am TV promo editor and did a favor to a friend. Regarding showing the movie to family members I was talking about the rough cuts... I think you are talking about the finished product, or close to it. IMO non-professionals can't go pass the fact that the shots aby xavpil - Café LA OT: notes on a short movie - 11 years agoI posted a few questions a while back regarding prepping to edit a short movie and thanks to all the great answers I got, the whole process has been flawless! Now, I have another question: since the writer/director is a first timer, I don't have any one other than her to show the rough cuts.... No clients, no studios, nothing... How do you - indie filmakers out there - get feedbacks on your cutby xavpil - Café LA Lo-No Budget short movie - 11 years agoIf you don't know how to do it yourself, where/what is the best way to get color correction done on a 6 min short movie? Isn't it the purpose of the plug in to make these files readable by FCP? (I am at on my work computer so I can't install the plug in)by xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: Advice on prep before cutting short film - 11 years agoI actually did the back up myself and made sure to copy the two folders DCIM and MISC that showed up on the card. So now I am trying to use my main backup which was done on an external drive but the Drive won't show when I select Add Volume in the Log Transfer window... ANy idea?...by xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: Advice on prep before cutting short film - 11 years agoI guess now I need the canon7d plug in to import the media into FCP. Right now when I Log and Transfer I have a message saying it can't find the proper folders...by xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: Advice on prep before cutting short film - 11 years agothx for the tip Derek..... What are your thoughts on grabbibg the media of the CF cards. I've read that sometimes during the basic drag and drop (af ALL the folders of course) onto the BU drive some folders aren't copied properly and you lose the footage? Hence using a plug-in. Shane recommands Shotput Pro but it is $99. Any free alternative or would you trust the drag&drop?by xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: Advice on prep before cutting short film - 11 years agocanon 7d so i can do Disk image, sure... Now the shoot is over. Getting the footage on CF cards. Any advice on having a smooth and reliable transfer from the cards to the Master/backUp drive? So when came time to online the nightmare started. Reconnecting the 23.97 TL to the 29.97 produced crazy results of course.
