I don't. I imported my clips. Created a new Sequence and dropped a clip in. BUt the TL just "accepts" the clip w/o asking if it should conform the sequence to the clip settings...by xavpil - Café LA

For some reasons when I drop a clip in the TL for the first time, I don't get the message I used to get asking to conform or not the sequence to the clip settings. I checked that my settings were ok so I checked in User Pref / editing / Auto conform sequence "ask" Any advice? Thanks a lotby xavpil - Café LA

I am a promo editor working for national networks and I was wondering if this qualifies to become a Union member. However since I started in this business I never heard of Union editor in the TV promo world. Is it because Union editors are mainly feature film editors or is it because TV doesnt deal with Union Editor? Thanksby xavpil - Café LA

thanks for your helpful reply Nick. I guess we're both working on real projects that require several layers of video and probably audio. Sometimes I wish I'd still be cutting stuff where all I'd need is V1 for A Cam, V2 for B Cam and V3... for.... oh lowerthirds!! Nice... Anyway I checked out Edit Mule and it seems very nice! How to collapse clips in TL - 12 years ago
I am prepping for online so now I need to clean up my timeline. I have so many layers of video that it takes me forever to do the cleaning. So far I've been using Shift-click-drag to bring my clips from the higher tracks to "overwrite" the clips underneath. Is there a way to do this quicker? Thxby xavpil - Café LA

Hey Derek we're talking actor's reel here.... not client... Of course for a real/paying client you would never do that. But counting on establishing professional relationship with starting actors with the hope that one day they'll use you again.... with pay... is utopia!! I leave/work in Hollywood. I totally second Derek. I've been in this type of situations. A good way out w/o burning bridges is to make believe you will do your best to help. A few ideas: you either don't remember what font you used... At the time you had several "programs" installed on your computer and you don't know which one you used.... Starting a pretty heavy job and I am ready to upgrade my equipment (the existing) Editing :90 promos. 4 hours of footage 1080i 99% of my work is promos and trailers so I work off full rez movies. No need for crazy rendering, color correction, playing real time for gfx. Here's what I have: 17" MBP 2.66Ghz Intel Core2 Duo Memory 4Gb 1067Mhz DDR3 Any suggestions?by xavpil - Café LA

Bandwith is an issue as I might have to do 2 cam multiclips... Got a bad experience a few weeks ago with on a music video, but it was 6 cam... So maybe my MPB can handle the 2 cam 422 Prores codec Derek, while I have you around, what do you think of my 17" MBP set up: 2.66Ghz Intel Core2 Duo Memory 4Gb 1067Mhz DDR3 Can FCP benefit of more than 4Gb? The footage was shot in HD on an HMC150 (1080i) What settings would be best if: 1) The final spots will go on the internet only: I am thinking Intermediate Codec 2) Internet only, but you know clients... they might later on tell me they also want to show on dvd for presentations: Thinking Prores LT?....by xavpil - Café LA
AVCHD folder structure - 13 years ago
Just got a drive from my client and Log and Transfer (in FCP6) won't recognize the AVCHD folders/files... The files were transfered from the SD cards to the drive so I am afraid someone might have messed up the folder structure by renaming. Anyone knows the folder structure? Or is it a FCP 6 thing? I seem to have found a "smart" client - so far: he agreed to have me speak with the DP and the sound guy who'll be shooting the material I'll edit! In this pretty ideal scenario, what would you guys request? It's a 2 cam shoot in a live event: A cam follows a host who'll talk to people in the venue - B cam only Broll. We'll have a boom. you guys are pretty harsh. This is about showing a community and try make people know about the town. 3.5 million views on Youtube.... I know a lot are from the folks in Rapid but still... I am seeing so many complains about FCPX that I wonder why people "jumped" on it so fast. Is FCP 7 that bad? I don't think so. Could it be better? Yes. But thanks a lot to all of them for making me save $299!by xavpil - Café LA - X
