I do NOT care about the true colors and color correction. So I am a little confused why I shouldn't get an LCD display? ANy reasons I am missing? Thanks.by xavpil - Café LA Re: Avid training for an FCP user? - 13 years agoI started editing on Avid for a year or so and then moved on to FCP for the last 5 years. I've contemplated re-learning AVID but everytime I do try I can't get over the fact that AVID doesn't let you customize the keyboard like FCP do. You can customize, but it's pretty limited. And my editing speed relies on so many shortcuts.... So my advice is to study the Avid keyboard shortcuts and transfby xavpil - Avid Media Composer "error code of 135" while trying to Media Manage / Recompress - 13 years agoI am cutting a music video with 5 to 6 sources, all ingested in ProRes 422 HQ. I need to make an offline version so my MBP is able to handle multiclip playback. I wanted to use the Media Manager tool to Recompress to Prores Proxy but it fails and I get this message: "The attempt to recompress clip_name failed with ant error code of 135." However I don't see how to change the log/capture settings... I need to export my final cut for my client to be able to play it from his computer connected to a projector or a TV. I am a little confused since when choosing Export / Quicktime file it gives me a file with the FCP logo which can not be played by all computers. Any suggestion welcome. Also, does the file has to be the best possible if played from a client'by xavpil - Café LA Re: Multiple formats - 13 years agoCool thanks! Changed Frame rate and size and now all is good!! Pure GENIUS!!!!!by xavpil - Café LA - X Multiple formats - 13 years agoI am putting together a spot with clips with differents specs: I have close to 10 various frame rates and sizes. I did a batch conversion to Apple ProRes 422 via compressor but now that I bring the clips in the timeline I still have the red render line for some clips.... Wasn't compressor supposed to take care of this? Did I miss something? Thanksby xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: G-Drive Raid doesn't show up any more - 13 years agoThis is nice. At first it behaved like it did on my MBP last night: not showing on the desktop. Visible in Disk Utility but the Verify and Repair buttons were greyed out. Then I clicked Eject from the same Disk Uitlity window and nothing seemed to happen until a minute or so later the drive showed up on the desktop. Needless to say that it was like seeing a new born poppingby xavpil - Café LA Re: OT: G-Drive Raid doesn't show up any more - 13 years agografixjoe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I personally > use a CalDigit VR (RAID 1) for a work drive and > back everything up to a NewerTech Guardian > Maximus. Two drives that last 4 days each!!!! I've had issues I believe with the port on my MBP... The drives sometimes don't show as if the port was bad... But could this "kill" 2 drives?! So Derek how do you save your work? Meaning I am now very paranoid. Do you back up everything on a 2nd and 3rd drive?by xavpil - Café LA OT: G-Drive Raid doesn't show up any more - 13 years agoI had a G Drive a while back that suddenly stopped showing up on the desktop. I returned it and got a G Raid. It worked fine for 4 days and tonight it decided to not show up as well. It shows in Disk Utility but i can't Verify or Repair. I get this message: Filesystem verify or repair failed. Am I doing something wrong when I unmount my drives? I usually Quit FCP and click the eject button.by xavpil - Café LA Green blocks appears after rendering Motion file in FCP timeline - 13 years agoOnce I render my motion file in FCP timeline, I have a green window showing up: two solid green blocks, one on the left darker green filling 1/4 of the canvas, the remaining is lighter green.
