Just about using FCP 6 and trying to get paid for it! :-) Just finishing a job and learned a great lesson: always have the client sign a budget/schedule document. Now that I learned that lesson I was curious to know what type of document you guys use to make sure that if your client doesn't pay what he's supposed to, then you have leverage to requby xavpil - Café LA Re: Supermeet updates - 13 years agorendering in background?!?! jesus is born againby xavpil - Café LA - X Re: Best way to follow the Supermeet at home? - 13 years agoMerci beaucoup! Someone at work has iKey, which I am testing now.... I see what you say about the Pauses FCP needs... I am just running out keyboard shorcuts ideas!!!! Or at least things I can remember but it 's awesome.by xavpil - Café LA Re: How do you protect your drives from a power outage: UPS? - 13 years agoWell since the drive is new and doesn't even mount anymore I'll just return and exchange it... Your advices are greatly appreciated. I don't need the media this time, thanks god.... But I might not be so lucky next time. So I will try Disk warrior or Disk Utility maybe... Or I'll return the drive since I bought it last Saturday.... But for sure I need to invest in one of these UPS then. The prices seem fair considering the value of what I could have lby xavpil - Café LA Re: Recommendations for Editing Keyboard - 13 years agoYeah, I used it... Not exciting... Too much back and forth between the mouse, the wheel and the keyboard.by xavpil - Café LA How do you protect your drives from a power outage: UPS? - 13 years agoDuring this weekend storm in LA, I lost power at my home while working from my brand new G Tech. After the 1 minute power outage I got a message saying that I needed to reformat my drive... I was still able to work (media is on the drive) but I couldn't export anything on it...I guess I need a UPS or something like that?... But.... $$ are a concern. Any suggestions? Thxby xavpil - Café LA Re: Recommendations for Editing Keyboard - 13 years agoThe best one is... the one you have! Don't worry about these fancy keyboards with colors.... They look cool sure and impress clients but the truth is that if you spend enough time editing you won't be looking at the keyboard, the same way you don't look at it when you type. Plus, you will create your own keyboard shortcuts. If you use a mouse, a trackball or a tablet, you won't use your keyboarby xavpil - Café LA Re: general question about subclips - 13 years agoNick Meyers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > actually i have a macro for this: > Hey Nick, what software or application do you use for your macroby xavpil - Café LA Re: How do you use your monitors? - 13 years agoD-Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > xavpil Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > I, for one, hate having to click, click, > click on various tabs to get to different things > in Viewer windows. > I haven't clicked on a tab in years!!!! But the space they free up when they "disappear" isn't automatically used by the the other windows. Andby xavpil - Café LA - X Re: iMovie Pro... WHY? - 13 years agoAnother reason why we might need a redesigned FCP: After I started a thread about screen estate usage I realized that I wasn't the only one struggling with it. And people who don't seem to struggle seem to me they are doing the best with what they have and can do. Let's remember FCP and Avid were designed in the area of 4:3 monitors... Way more vertical space than 16:9. Why can't they useby xavpil - Café LA - X Re: How do you use your monitors? - 13 years agoThanks everybody! Still haven't read a setting that would fit my needs...by xavpil - Café LA Re: How do you use your monitors? - 13 years agoI actually tried a little while ago and it does look weird and isn't very functional. But good idea though!!by xavpil - Café LA Re: How do you use your monitors? - 13 years agoI guess it also depends what you are working on. I rarely go the browser. In fact I'll always be limited with the need of having a window(canvas or viewer) above the TL What size monitors do you use?by xavpil - Café LA Re: How do you use your monitors? - 13 years agoSame with me actually I'm ok with small browser and viewer but I always have a lot of tracks... I tried the whole TL on the left and canvas on the right. But there's a whole eye / hand coordination that's not working: looking back and forth L/R vs. Up/Down... Maybe what I need is a huge monitor for TL - canvas and a small for Browser/Viewer....by xavpil - Café LA How do you use your monitors? - 13 years agoI am curious to see how you guys use your two monitors because I feel like I am not using the screen estate very well. I have two 24" monitors: on the left: timeline/canvas/viewer/browser but it is too small for my time line and canvas. And on the left I have the right monitor for only for Safari, Finder windows and other applications. Once in a while I preview full screen so it's conveniby xavpil - Café LA Re: Best settings to import in FCP - 13 years agoPerfect!
