Re: FCP 6 Asking For My Serial Number? - 12 years agoI have heard of FCP weirdness with this security release. Stay tuned.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: kodak playsport (zi3)work flow with Fcp anyone? - 12 years agoNot sure. What type of file format is it?by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: keyboard shotcut is there - 12 years agoHighlight clip Press enter Press Command + 4 Down Arrow Press enter, etc.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Ingesting AVCHD files with FCExpress 4 - 12 years agoThe Apple Intermediate Codec looks OK to me. QT isn't the best for viewing images in all cases. Do you have a HD broadcast monitor? Did you check off "High Quality" in QuickTime in the movie settings?by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: This transition - 12 years agoIt's not a standard transition, it's a glow filter keyframed to the end portion of the out going clip and beginning portion of the incoming clip. Looks like a bit of blur ramped up too. A standard technique for video effects creators. I remember when I first learned I could use filters as transitions. Whoa what a concept!by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Strange 'Close Gap' (Ctrl-G) behavior - 12 years agoThe close gap function was improved with FCP 7, it's supposed to work even if you are not within the gap but on the last frame of an existing clip (but don't quote me on that!) Something is confusing FCP when an older version of a project is brought into the current version. I think this happens sometimes when features are changed or upgraded.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Cross Dissolve Text Bump - 12 years agoWhen it comes to FX, I know my s#$t.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: FX based transitions and effects - 12 years agoYou've got a ProRes timeline? Tell me about your drives then. Are they fast enough to playback ProRes? Your preview in Unlimited RT should be just fine. Something is amiss.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: opening final cut - 12 years agoRuns better with at least one high performance graphics card and the MacBook does not have one. A MacBook Pro does have one (actually, it has 2 video cards inside)by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Cross Dissolve Text Bump - 12 years agoDo you have the Sequence > Render menus "FULL" Option checked before you rendered? That bites a lot of folks.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: FX based transitions and effects - 12 years agoDo you have your RT Pop Up menu set properly for better realtime? If you didn't already know: Unlimited > Dynamic Quality > Dynamic Frame Rate Turn off your Dropped Frames Warning on Playback while you edit too. You should not have to render to play through most of your effects.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Recommended reading / cutting first feature trailer? - 13 years agoIt's all 'bout Sound Design. You need a towering amount of SFX, music etc. to pull it off correctly.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: FCP 7 Timecode Window and Edit to Tape - 13 years agoSorry, the new Timecode Readiout is only available while editing.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: OT: In LA this Weekend. Meet up? + Cut rate Blu-Ray Templates "OUT 'DA TRUNK" - 13 years agoHung out with Mike and Ben last night. What a blast! Shane, I had to bail out of LA to take that job up North with a company that rhymes with "Snapple". Now I am sort of in limbo. I'd come back to LA if there was a gig out here that suited me. My problem in LA is that the post community does not know me, barely know I exist. So getting those crucial word of mouth gigs just didn't hapby Kevin Monahan - lafcpug Market OT: In LA this Weekend. Meet up? + Cut rate Blu-Ray Templates "OUT 'DA TRUNK" - 13 years agoHey Guys, I'm in LA this weekend. If anyone wants to meet up for a beer or two on Sat. night, that would be cool. If not, I guess I'll see ya'll at the SuperMeet up North. I'm also holding several copies of my Blu-ray Templates for FCP 7. If anyone wants the "hook up", I'll give you a 50% discount ($25). Cool? Hit my Private Message Box if you want to meet, I'm in Pasadena tonight aby Kevin Monahan - lafcpug Market Re: 1920x1080i to DVD Need assistance - 13 years agoI use the OWC burner and create BR discs right out of FCP. Looks awesome.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Recreate digital TV noise? - 13 years agoChecked out the Bad TV filter in the new FCS?by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Putting 3:2 Back In - 13 years agoKona 2 will cross convert, no? If not, there is a method but involves recapture.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Wipe from 'Stingray' - 13 years agoRight Jude. Our matte creation tools are too primitive in FCP.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: R3D QT Proxie Problem - 13 years agoExactly WHY do they want wrapped R3Ds as compared to ProRes files? Conforming in Color? Because there are other ways to do it.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: video playback in canvas - 13 years agoWhat is the format of the clip? CMD 9 What is the format of the sequence? CMD Zeroby Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Undo isn't working - 13 years agoI've seen this. Can you trash prefs? If not, reinstall FCP?by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Wipe from 'Stingray' - 13 years agoI would do this in Motion, not FCP. Just animate the Line tool over a black color solid to reveal the background. With lines, you can add gradients to them. Pretty cool, actually.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: OT: Merry Xmas and a Great 2010 - 13 years agoBest wishes to you all on this Christmas Day!by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Slow Motion Help? - 13 years agoSend the clip to Motion and engage Optical Flow speed effects. There are also a number of speed behaviors that work great there, as well.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: problem w a move on a still - 13 years agoQuote2X enlargement is pretty lame for photomotion, which often requires much higher magnification ratios I guess Loren, if you want to zoom into a nose hair!by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Rendered files in ProRes or Test DV Timeline stutter on playback. - 13 years agoMark, Apply the deinterlace filter to each of the stills with "stutter" or as we call it here: interlace flicker. Render. Done.by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: problem w a move on a still - 13 years agoIt's too large. Resize it to be under 2000 pixels in Photoshop to be more manageable. FCP isn't spec'd to handle any files larger the 4000 x 4000. I'm surprised you were able to add it to the Canvas. You should always "optimize" your images for video in Photoshop prior to using them in a FCP timeline. Target the size as to whether you'll be doing any scaling or repositioning. If so,by Kevin Monahan - Café LA Re: Rendered files in ProRes or Test DV Timeline stutter on playback. - 13 years agoWhat happens if you render and playback the clips from a different drive?by Kevin Monahan - Café LA |
