Re: importing stills in FCP - 17 years agoAlso, you may need to down size them, as digital stills are often HUGE causing FCP to bog down in showing your RT FX. So your argument that my ideas in my book or in this seminar might be "out of date" is terribly moot. I would say that no one, and I mean NO ONE has taken my ideas to such an advanced level in any book or website. Don't let this be you. All stills should be taken through Photoshop first and be optimized for a suitable frame size. Many of these photos have a huge frame size, which overly taxes the CPU, hence the ol' yellow bar. It lacks a rotate function. I've heard that multiple copies of the filter works somewhat better. Lyric.com makes a good one. They showed practical examples of how to catalog your stuff right from FCP. There was also a demo from eMotion Studios on how they keep track of every single one of their shots. They can call play a thumbnail movie, then from that call up an SD version or the full HD file which are stored elsewhere. Very slick. You should get them Mike. Just select the sequences and choose Sequence>Render All. LiveType and Motion are tip top as well. When judging rendered graphics, make sure the dark green "FULL" bars are checked in the Sequence > Render menus prior to rendering. Ensure that you are in Safe RT and Full Frame playback in the RT pop up menu. You have to install it yourself: it is in the Extras Folder on the Installation disk. It's called "Boris Calligraphy".
