Out of Memory - 10 years agoI've got a problem with FCP 7. I've been getting Out of Memory messages and so killing renders in the Render Manager to get over it. This seems to have produced a Fin-00000001 cannot be found problem and corrupted one of the clips. I'm trying to render out a time line that produced the clip I was working and get an Out of Memory error message. I've lots of memory on the hard drive. Iby LWGray - Café LA Re: Crashes - 13 years agoMy Raid card failed and I had that and the video card replaced. Haven't as yet given the machine much of a test. Though perhaps the Raid card was the problem. However it did crash the once I tested it with Final Cut. But I've been away for several weeks so haven't been using the machine so have no idea if the thing has improved its general performance.by LWGray - Café LA Re: Crashes - 13 years agoThat seems to be a factor in this crash. I'll delete the filters and render it out to pro res. Another little problem that never quite gets in the instruction manuals! (A bit like the rule never to round trip in Motion!) I've also cleaned out the Render Manager which might be another contributing problem. I still have problems with the machine that are unaccounted for... I've an SD projectby LWGray - Café LA Re: Crashes - 13 years agoDon't know about it being very complex. Three minutes with a the green screen keyed out and a mask. I import XD CAM EX files. At the moment I'm trying to render it out to pro res but it keeps crashing! I'm also getting "Out of Memory" notices. I take it that means I need to go and clean out the Render Manager?by LWGray - Café LA Re: Crashes - 13 years agoI don't know if this is any use but it's what I get all the time in my system log... This one had the veescope plug in on it. It failed to render previously. But i didn't save that crash. It's hard to know what information to supply as the problem seems very generalised. I've reinstalled FCP many times. Had engineers in who tested everything and also did a reinstall. I'll try the remtest again. Though I think it probably won't do any harm to get more RAM and swap what I have and see if that works. If I end up with extra RAM that probably won't be a bad idea anywaby LWGray - Café LA Crashes - 13 years agoI have no idea how to pose this question. Final Cut has never been that stable on my machine but for a while I seem to get it working reasonably well, largely by avoiding mixing different codecs on the time line, nesting, and round tripping with anything. But since Snow Leopard came on board, FCP just crashes while doing no more than moving a clip with no filters on a time line with no more thanby LWGray - Café LA Re: Video Playback - 14 years agoGot the solution! Trash the preferences and then re-install the quicktime desktopvideoout.component! Apparently there's a bug in the latest Quicktime upgrade. Phew... was beginning to think I was going to have to go through the whole horrible routine of reinstalling everything.by LWGray - Café LA Re: And odd playback issue - 14 years agoProbably! The quicktime desktopvideoout.component seems to have been the culprit. You have to trash the preferences and then trash the desktopvideoout.component in the Quicktime library and replace it with the one from the disk... and not up grade Quicktime until the bug is reported as fixed! I can see a lot of Preferences in the Library/Preferences area. They don't all look like they have much to do with Final Cut.by LWGray - Café LA Re: And odd playback issue - 14 years agoThe playback issue is even odder now... I've been trying to change the settings but now when I switch on External View... I get only a frozen image on both the Canvas and the Desktop Preview. I set it for All Frames and I get the same... so I'm confused by these settings. How do I get the Desktop Preview to playback properly? My Audio/Visual setting for Video Playback is "Digital Cinema Dby LWGray - Café LA Re: And odd playback issue - 14 years agoDoesn't matter if the time line is fully rendered or not, the play back through the Desktop Preview stutters and drops frames where the playback through the Canvas plays back OK. In fact I tested it out with the Desktop Preview playing on my main screen and the Canvas on the Samsung. Same situation... Canvas OK. Desktop Preview not. However, the Desktop Preview I have playing on a samsung screen is jittery and dropping frames. It has been working without any problems. The only thing that happened was that I created a project with a different codec to my usual EX1 setting, and that had the problem. It's horribly unstable, especially if your going back and forth between Motion, Soundtrack and Color.
