Re: Aftereffects Plugins - 19 years agoI never heard of that Wayne. Not sure how to do that. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Multicam Lite problem - 19 years agoMartin Baker the author of this app checks in here often but its best to just write the support folks at digital heaven Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Aftereffects Plugins - 19 years agoYou have to be looking in the wrong place. Do what Wayne says and look there. Again, this is a waste of time. Those AE plugins wont work. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Aftereffects Plugins - 19 years agoThere are a number of AE plugins that FCP supports but they have to be written for the FCP UI. Digital Film Tools, Digital Anarchy, come to mind. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Aftereffects Plugins - 19 years agoFCP doesnt support those plug ins and they certainly dont go into the prefs folder. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: I think my FCP is sick! - 19 years agoThe fan problem can be cured (sort of, sometimes) by going into your Energy Savings control panel clicking on Options and selecting Highest in the Processor Performance. If this doesn't work re-install 10.3.8 using the Combo installer Re installing helps many out. Repair permissions before and after mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: iMovie to FCP HD-Quality Question - 19 years agoNo quality loss. Not sure how iMovie works but if its making copies of the files all its doing is referencing the original media you captured. Only time you are going to see a hit in qulaity is when you throw a filter on the footage and render. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: looking for that article on sq. pixels and importing - 19 years agoThis one? No diff between FCX and FCP. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Show N Tell DVD designer last year - 19 years agoCheck out the Past Meetings page. Something might ring a bellby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Slow and sticky Timeline - 19 years agoYeah, nick. Dupe detection was a great call. Would of never thought of that one. Good to know. Course, it's always good to log and batch capture with FCP even though log and Batch capture seems to be going the way of dinosaursby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: FCP or Premiere Pro - 19 years agoJustin Best to post this on our Jobs and Announcements forum. Also you might look into the Local Apple Pro Apps VAR if you want to save money. It's doubtful though you will find one person who is certified in BOTH FCP and Premiere. Write me off list and I might have a suggestion for someone here in LA if you got the budget.by Michael Horton - Café LA Re: JVC conflict Help! - 19 years agoJust for laughs try creating a preset and use FW BASIC as your protocal. Might help. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: What's This? Internal Tools in FCP HD? - 19 years agoHavent a clue but if you do find out this would make one good tip/trick O the week for the newsletter Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: JVC conflict Help! - 19 years agoSo FCP sees the JVC? And can at least capture? YOU sure there are no time code breaks? Are you capturing right at beginning of tape? Try capturing a clip about 20 seconds into tape. See if that works. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoYou can encode to Windows Media 9HD using Flip4Mac. They just started shipping set top boxes. Thats about the only choice right now. That will change of course once these Blu-ray and HD-DVD boxes hit the market. All is still very new Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: JVC conflict Help! - 19 years agoRepair permissions and trash preferences and try againby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: weird f/w prob...jvc works, sony's don't - 19 years agoTrash your preferences and reset your settings and try the Sony againby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Steadycam Jr. - 19 years agoThere are instructions on how to make your own homegrown Steady Tracker somewhere on the web. I'll try and find it. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoI can answer your question about the Chroma Key and FX1. It works GREAT. I've seen it and its superb. It holds up real well in native HDV and well if you convert to 8bit uncompressed. Me thinks if your friend want to throw a bunch of formats into same timeline he might be better off with say a Canopus Edius than FCP. Thats as of today, anyway. Otherwise its render city. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Steadycam Jr. - 19 years agoLook at the Steady Tracker. Great little tool. Priced right and Promax sells a gazillion of these thingsby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoJody Eldred who spoke at our HDV Night shot some footage for this Network TV show called JAG with the Z1 and they captured it using a Kona Card and went straight into a D5 for editing. Scaling up or down requires a hefty fast Mac and lots of time according to Brad the author. Very CPU intensive He feels the best codec for the buck is the DVCPRO HD 1080i. 1:1 and it looks sensational I dont knoby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoWith HDVxDV you can pick your poison from 10 bit uncompressed on down. Whatever codec you got, you pick. DVCPRO HD is a nice codec to edit with. 1:1 conversion as long as you don't scale. Then its more like 4-5:1 mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoBUT, with DVCPro HD and HDV that's all changing. "HD" is becoming the new DV, and like with DV we want things cheap and easy to use. Times are a changing...by Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Is it OK to post For Sale messages here? - 19 years agoPost it in the Jobs and Announcements forum Thanks Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoYou can use a AJA Kona 2 or Decklink HD card with no problems. mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoYou are right Johny. All this stuff is confusing. Way it is with any new technology I'm afraid. Mpeg streamclip is a fine tool but you need DVHS CAP to capture the HDV and mpeg streamclip allows no TC...yet. Course TC might not be a concern to Z1 and FX1 owners. Right now Mac users all are a bit confused about all this HDV stuff which is understandable. Canopus Edius users and Liquid Edition uby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Why shoot FX-1 if you can't edit? - 19 years agoIn my not so humble opinion HDVxDV is the most elegant solution as of this moment. Lumiere requires too many steps. HDVxDV will bring over TimeCode too. Download the trial version and see for yourselfby Michael Horton - Café LA Re: Jpeg in FCP HD - 19 years agoThats probably because that particular picture was just different than the others or was prepared differently or was a different format. Bottom line is, you need a monitor No way around it. Mikeby Michael Horton - Café LA |
