Surprising how the cheaper brand dvd players can not only play more but are more efficient than the highly marketing better known brands of players. Another player might be a different story however. I just a little earlier finally burnt a successful copy after some time building up my confidence to try once more. Final size being 7.7 GB after using 128 kbps ac3 & verbatim +R DL. I used automatic for breakpoint. So reducing the size was the critical issue it seems. Also using automatic seemed to work fine. This was going to be my last attempt. Thanks for theby Lone Ranger - DVD Studio Pro Re: Please help: FCP chapter markers as separate DVDSP tracks/buttons - 17 years agoNot being an expert: You need to set each marker in FCP as "chapter" markers using the edit marker command. Then export the project. It depends how you go about exporting & encoding the video. eg: if you use export to MPeg 2 (using QT's export function) then the markers will automatically be included. I'm still having the same problem. Running thru the disks galore & almost ready to give up. But I have another dvd-9 format project also so I'd like to sort out this problem. I reduced the audio from 256 to 192 kbps ac3, & finally the xtra chapter I added was listed as a possible jump point so I set this as the jump marker. I'm using dsp3. Project is 7.88 GB (as shown in OS 10.4 finder). Single track. After reading the manual I set it to format Dual, OTP, Automatic break point, 12 cm, one side. Lossless Linking. I did add a chapter where I estimated just a fraction over half-way thru. So how to overcome this. I tried deleting that image .. no difference. Will lengthening or shortening the sound used help? Luckily I have a previous version of the project which is 2 weeks older & still have most but not all the same content. I decided to replace some of the images with their tiff/psd's instead of using jpg's. Upon trying to rebuild I get this error: (slideshow title),Chapter 2:Marker position in movie not at GOP boundary I'm totally confused. I can't see why this would affect a slideshow. I used Toast Data format & added files until it showed the orange warning, then simply deleted some small files until it went back to green. The size was 7.96, but when I created a disk image it turned to orange as it did when I loaded the image. So I removed 4-6 MB from the Data format & re-did the disk image. This was fine. I'd tend to think it will be less than 8 GB or should I write that as less than 8 GiB. I'm still looking for an accurate answer. I need to be sure & have as accurate knowledge as possible. I need to know the exact gibibytes that such disks use. I've found 2 references to it on the internet. One says 7.95 GB, & the other from a wiki suggests roughtly 7.92 GB. Can someone give me an exact size please? Many thanks in advance for an accurate knowledgable answer. The question then is how much extra space would this take up? I haven't used slideshows on a dvd for about 2 years. So this is both a refresher & very much a learning experience. Yes, dvd+/- burns very well on my G4 with a 109 pioneer burner with latest firmware. * I forgot to mention, dvd 9 disks holds about 7.9 GB * I'm sorry I don't have dsp 4 I have dsp 3, but it's max encoding rate is 9.0 DVD specification doesn't allow you to go above 10 Mbps so I'm not sure where you get your figures frby Lone Ranger - DVD Studio Pro Re: Laptop Stability - 18 years agoPersonally I build the project, then create a disk image instead of burning during the format process, then burn that dmg file with Toast. AFAIK skipping is generally due to too high a bit rate. For my early experience, skipping was typical of dvd players that couldn't cope with very high bit rates. Problems like that can occur if you use PCM audio instead of AC3 dolby, & your max. bit rateby Lone Ranger - DVD Studio Pro Markers for audio in Slideshow - 18 years agoThis might sound silly I don't know. But I've added ac3 files to slideshows with images (images fit to audio). But I'm wondering is it possible to create markers for the beginning of each audio piece? I chose slideshow because it uses much less space. And I'm concerned that if I then converted that to video ... it would use up more space than I would prefer. I was of the impression 320 kbps was the max allowed in earlier dsp versions (or perhaps I thought it was only for surround multiple audio channels.) I wish to use 448 kbps for music video. Mostly I use less than 320 kbps for other types of video. Just my personal experience. I found the 160 GB external was even "much" worse! Just IMHO. Therefore I prefer working directly from the internal HDD wherever possible. But here goes: I'm wanting to use images in a project intended for both PAL & NTSC. What I'm needing to know is what is the visible screen area of both of these formats/TV's, & does the particular type of TV make a difference to screen area?
