I was able to get the program to run within Final Cut. Now I have a different issue with Compressor. Now, Although I can pick my sources to compress, which is the audio and video on my FCP timeline, there is no destination option. When I click on the destination tab within the inspector folder, then submit the batch, I receive an error message. When I look into what the error is, here is the codeby rwise47 - Café LA

Someone please advise. Up until now, Compressor worked just fine. All of a sudden, when I open Compressor within Final Cut, I get a message that says to restart my computer and to make sure Compressor is installed correctly. Using Mac version 10.6.5 and using Final Cut Studio Pro 6.0.6. I have tried to reinstall the entire program with no success. As this is an upgrade, I am afraid to compleby rwise47 - Café LA
Importing MTS files (HD Files) into Final Cut to edit in SD to get smaller file to render. - 14 years ago
We have imported .MTS files from a Canon consumer video. We used a conversion program for the .MTS files to convert them to .mov files. But When we imported to Final Cut (ver 6.06 for intel Mac) they show up as MP4 files and take many hours to render just a few minute sequence on a Mac 2X2 8 gig quad system. Here are our settings. What is the best way to keep the log & capture running when there are dropped frames in an HDV capture? I have the setting to warn only if dropped frame but the capture still stops. Please advise Thanksby rwise47 - Café LA

I've read through these threads and I am having issues with digital cinema display playing. I get a black screen and when I pause the playhead, I get a freeze frame of where the playhead is. I have view/all frames and cinema display main selected. Any suggestions? Thanksby rwise47 - Café LA

I am using 6 yes. I have another question relating to this. If I change the % zoom or reduction size of a clip, is there a way to edit without rendering?by rwise47 - Café LA

I was not prompted to confirm the sequence to the clip. I log and captured, then imported the files to the timeline. When I did, the red line appeared above the sequence and I needed to render the entire clip. I thought the sequence settings had some settings that would manually do this. Since I am not being prompted, I am lost as to how to manually change the settings. I need a step by step settby rwise47 - Café LA

Do you have "Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Full Screen" selected in the "View/Video Playback" dropdown? No. It says digital cinema display-main. One monitorby rwise47 - Café LA
HDV timeline editing - 16 years ago
Can someone remind me of the settings so I do not need to render my timeline to edit? I have set my quality to safe and low but I srill get the red line, showing rendering needed and must render before I can edit or play the sequence. Am also using Pro-res I must be missing a setting somewhere. Please advise RWby rwise47 - Café LA

Am using FCP6 and am trying to use cinema display full screen on an HDV project. Have all frames enabled. All I get is a still image of the frame I stop on. When I start the playhead, the screen goes black but I can hear audio. Please advise Thanks RWby rwise47 - Café LA

Thanks vurchdc. Can you or anyone tell me what Apple is waiting for, being that the war has been won by Blue-Ray? I can't see why Apple is willing to let video producers migrate to Encore because Apple has yet to support Blue-Ray in DVDSP. Doesn't Apple care that they are loosing customers? Unable to print to video - 16 years ago
It has been a while since I printed to mini Dv and for some reason, the sequence on the timeline does not print to tape. I've double check all my connections. Is there a setting in the Aufio/Video settings or settings section I should have enabled? Thanks.by rwise47 - Café LA

When you say import the self contained movie, what program am I importing with? Is there not a way to export from the timeline? The flash option is there. Please adviseby rwise47 - Café LA
Compressor DOES NOT work properly - 16 years ago
Can someone tell me how to get the MPEG-2 codec back into the quicktime conversion for exporting. I am forced to use compressor and it is not exporting properly. Compressor sends either half of my audio file or a partial video file. Someone please answer the following. 1. Exporting to Flash issue - 16 years ago
When attempting to export to flash from final cut, I get the endless color wheel and the system stalls. I have the latest flash9 installed. I can convert to H264 and then send to Sorenson but that is an extra step and loss in quality. Is there a plug in I may be missing? Please Advise. Thanks.by rwise47 - Café LA

I am looking for the best way to deliver HD content on the web. I have taken an HDV file, Approx 500 megs and compressed down to MPEG-4, converting to flash and a file size of 11 megs. I have lowered the data rate to 1200, anything faster stops. anything lower looks less than acceptable. I used Sorenson Squeeze 5.0 beta to compress. I have a menu of layers made in photo shop. some of the layers are thumbnails some are text with respective active and non active states that will be buttons. I want to select these to make actual buttons but I cannot seem to select them. I see all the layers in the menu inspector and can hide and view them. how do I get that little thumbnail selected and make it active when clicked.by rwise47 - DVD Studio Pro
Best filter for background traffice noise reduction - 17 years ago
I brought a sequence into soundtrack to remove the background traffic noise (very distant) but do not like how it changed the charachteristics of the talents voice (sounds like a digital download that is too narrow in frequency). That is interesting. I never use to have to use compressor. I could use either quicktime or compressor. Why did they take it out of Quicktime? Is Compressor that much better, faster?by rwise47 - Café LA

I recently upgraded to FCP 6 and noticed there is no MPEG2 codec to export to DVDSP? I see an MPEG4 but I thought that was for internet and greater compression applications. I attempted to ecport via MPEG4 and am not satisfied with the quality? Please advise. Thanks.by rwise47 - Café LA

Cannot get Green Canvas to Black - 17 years ago
My Canvas has mysteriously turned to green. This means all my transistions from the beging of a clip go from green to the clip rather than from black to the clip. I have gone into user/library/preferences/finalcut and have deleted the preferences. Nothing seems to work. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall? Using 5.04 Please advise. Thanks. Thanks to all for responding. I have more than enough memory (4 gigs) however, I do have many things plugged in (3 external hard drives and a printer). Can you refresh my memory exactly how to dump the FCP preferences? I think that could work along with disconnecting everything. Oh, one more thing. I even opened a new project with no timeline and still the green canvas. I could seam all the clby rwise47 - Café LA

I even closed the project and opened a new one. The Canvas is Green even before I import a timeline. IF I change the background to White, the background stays white only when the video is paused. when it starts and the playhead is in the canvas area, it goes green again. I rebooted and no help there. Being that I am using 5.01, would a firmware upgrade be the answer or do you recommend reinstalliby rwise47 - Café LA

Everything outside of my timeline is green. Example: Normally, if I put a disolve on the end of a sequence, it disolves to black. In my case, it will disolve to green. Everything beneatht he timeline shows greeen. I have never seen this before. I am using FCP 5.01. I need to get it right before I finish up the project though. Robby rwise47 - Café LA

That is the strange thing about this. If nothing is there, it usually disolves to black, you are correct. However, when I disolve, whether in or out, I am disolving to Green. It is as if there is a gren screen matte behind the timeline. Any ideas? Robby rwise47 - Café LA
