Hi: I am using DVD Studio Pro on a project that has 4 DVDs, with 3 videos on each. The 12 videos were assembled and edited on FCP 6.0.6 and exported on Compressor as MPEG-2s. I have followed the same routine dozens of times. This time, after successfully burning the first of the 4 DVDs, i got an error message when i went to play it on my imac. Hi: I am traveling to Hong Kong and taking a project with me on a Western Digital firewire drive. i plan to take the drive with me onto the airplane. The files are all Apple ProRes 422. Do i need to worry about the TSA scanning? thanks, Jimby miama99 - Café LA

i have another question on the "advanced pulldown." my client wants simply to archive this footage as a qt file on a firewire drive, and as a dvd to allow the subjects of his work to view the footage. in reading more material on removing the pulldown, i noted that shane ross says that if you're going to come out with a fps speed of 29.97, then don't bother with removing the pulldown,by miama99 - Café LA

hi: I have a project with about a dozen mini dvs shot with the 2:3:3:2 pulldown. the goal is to provide the client a qt file and a dvd of each tape. I am wondering if I should be using the Capture Preset for "advanced 2:3:3:2 pulldown," and if so, what should be the Sequence Preset? The client wants me to use 29.97 fps, but i thought that was the reason to keep the pulldown, becby miama99 - Café LA

hi: i have not been installing final cut server. nor using multiple machines... it doesn't seem to be having a negative effect; i just authored a 40-min. dvd that came out great, and had no troubles burning disks. it's just disconcerting to get prompted each time i launch the program... thanks. jimby miama99 - DVD Studio Pro

WHenever i open dvd studio pro (4), i get this message: "the application Media Server quit unexpectedly." i launch w/o it and am not aware of an issues. but i've used the software for several years w/o getting that message. anyone have an idea what i can do to get rid of it. thanks, Jimby miama99 - DVD Studio Pro

Hi: i'm trying to build and burn a dvd of a pro res project. as my assets meet hd specs, i'm trying to make it hd. i believe that i have properly built the project. it plays perfectly from the timeline on the viewer. It functions perfectly in simulator. When I use build and burn, I get a clean log, and the process ends with the message: successfully formatted. .....but it doesn't play, on my bby miama99 - DVD Studio Pro

Wow.... That did it for me too..... I have been unable to work on this > project for three months.... After working on it every day for a year. thanks anyhow.... though if there's someone you can recommend, that would be awesome.... i did just notice that i have some pro res mixed in with the hq... could that cause this?? (tho again, this footage was mostly cut a year ago, and this problem did not come up until after the fcp re-install--and everything seems to point to the library preferences.by miama99 - Café LA

actually, let me correct that. our film was processed at fotokem, and we came out of there on HD-SR, which we had converted to ProRes at plaster city. i don't recall asking for (HQ), but it is.... when i did disk directory verification and repair, there were about 30 items that i recognized as being related to final cut. as the process indicated that these directories were all "repaired,&quoby miama99 - Café LA

most of this project was shot on film, and was converted to pro res (hq) over at plaster city. ... i have been working on this project for a year with no issues (other than artistic) until after the re-install of fcp. ... i've read your threads from last year and checked to see if we were using any still images. we're not. .... fyi, you've save my ass many times on fcp problems.... but this one iby miama99 - Café LA

i'm getting this error message: Codec not found. You maybe using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card" .... i know this has been covered several times on the forum, with mixed success for users . i've read through several threads. (i noticed one user simply gave up and bought all new software). in my case, it is coming up on a project i've been working on for a year. itby miama99 - Café LA

ok. thanks... i have read (i don't remember where) that many of the plasma screens tended to stretch certain dvds to a full screen image. i have seen references to the need during the authoring process to make sure settings were such to prevent this from happening.by miama99 - DVD Studio Pro

hi: I have a pro res project that i need to output to mini-DV. so i am creating a separate sequence, setting the frame size as ntsc dv (3:2), square pix aspect ratio , 23.98 editing timebase, and i am not sure what compressor setting to use. my instincts are dv/dvcpro-ntsc.... but wasn't sure if it should be Apple Pro Res. thanks. jimby miama99 - Café LA

hi: i'm working on a dvd that has five assets. the main one is a pro res 422 project. the other four are dvcpro assets. the pro res project plays fine. and looks fine when i burn a dvd. the dvcpro assets are stretched. ... worth noting that the assets, which were exported from fcp as simple qt files, look fine when played outside of studio pro---they problem pops up AFTER they have been introby miama99 - DVD Studio Pro

Hi: I have material from a DVD that I want to include on a FCP project. I am using 6.0.4. Using Handbrake, I saved the file as QT movie file. It played fine on a QT player, but when I tried to import it to FCP (both by directly dragging the file to the browser, and by "importing" it) I got a message readying "file error." it's the same image width, only compressed. ... i've called alpha dogs, and they are going to re-digitize the digibeta. i told them exactly what you said, that it should be cropped to a 16:9 frame. they say they can put in a letterbox format, allowing me to crop it later. .... does that make sense? again, thanks. jimby miama99 - Café LA

hi: the digibeta was 4x3, and had been taped off top and bottom to simulate widescreen. my projects specs are 1920 X 1080, 23.p8 fps, with square pixel aspect. when i took the digibeta from the years earlier shoot to alpha dogs, i told them simply that i wanted to use this footage in a prores project. so, they converted it to prores, at the existing 720 x 486, 29.97 fps (i converted it latby miama99 - Café LA

i am editing a music video shot on 16 mm film. we telecinied to hdsr and digitized to prores 422 (hq). i had no technical issues with this footage. everything has looked and functioned very well... but i decided to use two clips from footage i shot several years ago. this footage, also 16mm, had been telecinied to digibeta. i took the tape to alpha dogs and had it digitized to prores... it lookedby miama99 - Café LA

the article helped a lot. i've built the project in dvd studio pro, and it looks great in the simulator. i have not yet burned a dvd so i haven't seen whether there will be some of the blown-out gamma issues that i had earlier... however, i've been busy on a final re-edit of the project and have a more urgent issue that i hope someone can help me with..... this is a music video shot on 16 mmby miama99 - Café LA

Help: I've shot and just finished editing a project that is in ProRes (hq). now i am trying to burn a DVD. Hi: My two-year-old G5 is having a meltdown. It is suddenly unable to open Motion, and will only open certain FCP (6.04) projects. And then it lost connection with all my firewire drives. I reinstalled Leopard, and that seems to have only made it worse. Hi: I'm trying to transfer P2 files into FCP 6.03. I have watched shane's tutorial, and followed it precisely. When i open the file and transfer window and try to transfer the files, i get the following message "roll1 AVC-Intra is unsupported on PPC." ... i used easy setup and set the format to pro res 422. ... we shot on a hpx3000. i am using a G5.... any suggestions??
