Any Blackmagic UltraStudio 4k Users? - 10 years agoHi, hi I have a UltraStudio 4k from Blackmagic Design and wanted to first off try and get it working with FCPX for testing purposes. I am on a 2Ghz Intel Core i7 with 4GB Ram There are 2 graphics cards in it. AMD Radeon HD 6490M and Intel HD Graphics 3000 I am attaching 3 screen shots of how I have set things up. At the moment I am just trying to get anything to work and so I grby paurray - Café LA - X Final Cut Pro Berlin User Group 10 years old today!!! - 10 years agofinalBUG.net Is to the best of my knowledge the oldest Final Cut Pro User Group in Europe and we are 10 years old today!!! Please help me here? I do not get it... Believe me the last thing I want to do is twist this thread into a bash your least favourite NLE thread but what are the advantages of a FCP X/AVID split?by paurray - Café LA - X Re: Adobe on the FCPX attack says Ben Balser - 11 years agoOr how about Resolve 10. One of the fascinating features is that it sucks in all these different edits from different NLEs. Like would that not be intriguing if you owned a production house? Have editors edit on the NLE of their choice and bring the edit into Resolve Colour Correct, tweak and get it out the door…by paurray - Café LA - X Re: DVD Menu - It is Pixels for me & the LA DVD SP Studio forum :-( - 11 years agoOk Jude I have got it. A guy in Germany pointed me in the right direction. Most of the online stuff is simply wrong. Seems to be something that was first corrected in CS4. I still do not really understand it but, boxes inside boxes, inside boxes.. The Graphic which I have is 872/484 gives me a ratio of 1.8 which is not far off from…. Wow don´t know whether to laugh or cry. The drum roll. Possibly the first ever DVD SP post in Cafe LA… How can I import a 872 times 486 menu from a client into DVD SP and have it look correct in Pal land. I thought that the maths was 1024*576 Square converts to 720*576 Non Square!!! It is the bloody pixels isn´t it??? I could not believe my eyes oby paurray - Café LA Re: Render using external drive? - 11 years agoHi RTL Frankly I find your post confusing! Q1 How are you exporting to an external drive? Are you using the FCP media manager? Q2 What have you moved the Project or the Event or both? From reading your post I am guessing that you have only moved the project and not the Event. The project is in a sense a child of the Event. Files in the project will always reference back to thby paurray - Café LA - X Re: Disable thumbnail at timeline - 11 years agoIn your Project Library open the timeline in question. Look at the bottom right hand corner of your timeline and you should see a slider. At one end of the slider there is a Minus Symbol. At the other a Plus symbol. Next to the plus symbol there is a switch. Click the switch and you will get a pop up window... This is where you can change clip appearances...by paurray - Café LA - X Re: FCPX Not Reading P2 Files - 11 years agoHi Don Have you check the list here? ? Dont panic if your camera is not on the list. Am pretty sure that there must be a free transcoder from Panasonic to convert the MXFs files to Prores 422. Beware of companies offering you solutions for money. They are usually for lazy googelers with itchy Credit Card fingers. I attempted to do a brief search of the Panasonic Site but gaveby paurray - Café LA - X Re: FCP X not importing complete audio - 11 years agoSounds weird! Sorry for the stupid pun it just slipped out. What format are your files? Have you tried encoding them to ProRes 422 with either Compressor or MPEG Stream Clip and then importing into FCP X? To the best of my knowledge there is no way of turning this Meta Data detection off inside FCP X. It will automatically break up material depending on when it was shot whilst capturing! In the Events Library if I switch to the List view I can see the time code. I can then Click where start is written in the column above the time code to sort byby paurray - Café LA - X Re: Export to DVD without autoplay? - 11 years agoOk thanks for that. But good you are using optimised Media. Another option would be to switch to Proxy Media. You can still do this even if you didn´t do it whilst importing. But I am wondering about your drive situation Have I understood you correctly you have your Events and Projects on an internal Drive? If so this is never a good idea! It blew me away. Computer starts and shuts down in a matter of seconds. Programs open instantly. I can not say much about FCP X performance though because I am doing other stuff at the moment. Because FCP X is basically built on a data base that is coby paurray - Café LA - X Re: Capture tape HDV in FCP-X - 11 years agoThe Import preferences in FCP X are deceptively easy There is optimized or proxy i.e. Pro Res 422 or Pro Res Proxy A little confusing is the third scenario... Your files are already optimised in which case the optimized option is grey out. You dont need to optimize some thing that is already optimised. It is already Pro Res 422 after all. I can not deal with Avid. (Entirely my problem / I even went back to school to try and learn it) and whilst Premiere is doing well at the moment my gut is telling me that they are just on a roll.
