Here am I again: I forgot one small thing, which I think I have requested every time since FCP 1: rulers, guides and spatial snapping in the canvas. I Apple to concentrate on making it the best video editing application out there. Putting in all this compositing and audio mixing abilities will sidetrack them from doing so, IMHO. Correct. However, this requires pre-encoded MPEG-2 assets. If you bring a 23.976 fps Quicktime file, DVD SP will then encode it as 29.97.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro

Don't worry. DVD SP reports it as 29.97 fps, but it will add the proper pull-down flags so progressive-scan players remove the extra frames during playback.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro

Actually, anything you do in DVD Studio Pro in a DVD-video project is part of the DVD spec, or rather, it's translated into it. If it's out of spec, then it's a bug in the way DVD SP builds it. It just happens that it brings a complexity to the way things that are stored, that it may cause significant navigation delays or worse. Sure. Set your first encoding job as normal (pick source file, assign preset, customize it, etc.) Then right click the resulting setting in the main window and choose "new job with target output". You will get a new job, with a large chain icon which indicates.... job chaining Could be easier to discover, that's true. But it more than justifies the UI changes IMO.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Café LA

The new UI is functional to things like job chaining. Are you aware of this feature? IMHO, it justifies any Ui change in the world Essentially, it lets you define the yet inexistent output of a job as a source for another, subsequent job. In my opinion, it's not easy to vote globally for or against. It depends on the circumstances and what you need it for. For interviews, narrative, etc under controlled environments HDV can look stunning. We all know that. XDCAM EX should be even better. There was mention of Firewire at 1.6 and 3.2 Gbps when FW800 was released back in.... was it 2003? A couple of years ago I would have been delighted with the news. But I have a dual port eSATA expresscard in my MBP right now, that I got for $60. And it flies. And essentially anything you could use FW3200 for would surely use an eSATA to FW3200 bridge, right? Sorry, I forgot there's a MUCH easier way. Select your Disc and in the "General" tab of the disc inspector, you'll see a "Streams" section. Set it to #1, again with the "View" checkbox turned off.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro

Your first play item has to be a script that turns off subititles and then jumps to your track or menu. Create a script (Add script button on the button bar). Make sure the disc's first play is set to this script. Replace the default first command of the script ("nop" with "Set system stream". There's no effective way to force autorun on a Mac. For Windows machines, you can place an autorun.inf command in the disc (google for it to see how you do it). But again, users can disable autorun and there's nothing you can do about it.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro

The new Adobe Encore DVD CS3 supports Blu-Ray and is now available for the first time on the Mac. It lacks some professional features found in DVD SP (like scripting and VTS editing), but again, it supports Blu-Ray today. Akemier: It's important to understand that interactivity on DVDs is different from what you see on Flash web sites, for example. One such difference is that there's *always* a selected button. Remember it was designed to use a remote control, not a mouse. And thus, you just jump from one button to another, rather than point with a cursor. Hey, Johan. Everything is true but this bit: "And furthermore 4:2:2 is 10-bit which means that every color has 1024 variations whreas 8 bits only offer 256 cvariations." 4:2:2 doesn't imply 10 bit color. There are only a few 4:2:2 formats which are 10 bit. Digibeta is one of them. DV50 and DVCPRO HD are not, for example. In terms of production codecs, well... Thanks again, Wayne. The color sampling works very well for keying. That's great. I'm also finding higher than expected (expected by me, I mean) noise/artifacts. That black shirt is tough to handle, apparently Other than that, it works beautifully. The semi-transparent detail Keylight is giving me for the hair wouldn't be possible with 4:2:0. Shane: the eSATA RAID is hypothetical for now. BTW, I'll be in LA a couple of days before NAB. Any recomendations for a place to buy these things there? Did anybone get a chance to try DVRack's direct DVCPRO HD recording from the HVX200? These are Bootcamp times, and if that works.... Serious Magic claims that they support different format/wrappers for DVCPRO HD. I wonder if it can store the Dby Adolfo Rozenfeld - Café LA

The only problem I see is that I would have the ExpressCard slot alredy ocuppied, to connect the very SATA drive I would like to transfer to That FW800 port in the newer MBPs seems invaluable now... Thank you much, Wayne! Downloading now. I'm going to use Keylight in AE. It worked perfectly with Shane's clip. I don't need to achieve super VFX level keying, with light wrapping and such things.
