Re: How do I link multiple tracks to form one track? - 12 years agoThanks for your response, Hal, you opened a new world to me. I didn't know what scripting was. Now I need to learn it. I find your tutorials very helpful. Problem #2 sort of solved itself when I burned the disc. My problem was that the short MPEG I made wouldn't show up in Simulator unless I first put the playhead into the element, but when I viewed it on the disc it came up. How do I link (connect?) my tracks together that I converted from a slideshow? I thought I would try it since the manual says I can import Motion files directly into DVDSP. So now I won't waste my time.by Nick Munning - Motion Unable to import Motion file from DVDSP - 13 years agoI tried researching this problem to no avail. My DVDSP manual says I can import Motion files directly into DVDSP. The message I get is: Import Assets: "incompatible format". I have DVDSP 4.0.3v & Motion 2.0.1v. I'll fire up the G5. Nickby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoMike, thanks for your help. I called Apple and my present FCP 5 disks will not work on my Intel computer, BUT, I can purchase the upgrade for $299, and not even have an installation of FCP 5 but when I get the Upgrade disk I put in my serial # of my present FCP 5 and it gives me a full version, not incremental. Hopefully, I have contributed something. Thank you for the link. Nickby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoThat makes me a lot happier! Thanks for the good news, Mike! One of the things I've learned from the last couple of days is that some things aren't as easy as they may seem. So I'll ask this... What is the best procedure to remove FCP5 from my present MacPro and reinstall from the original disks that I purchased prior to Intel based Macs? Thanks - I feel like I'm getting closer to fixiby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoThanks, Loren. The Photo-Jpeg at 75% was a suggestion form the forum. When you ask about exporting directly from the timeline, does that mean everything in the browser is deselected and I need to select the timeline or may I just leave it as is? I will export to my external drive from now on if that's important. I was just doing what the manual told me - to export to desktop for convenience. However, I was only doing what My Apple manual told me I could do and that is transfer from my old computer software to my new one. to my new one. I actually didn't do a Drag & Drop, if I remember correctly. It was more like an import. I transferred FCP via Firewire from my Mac G5 to this one.by Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoHow do I trash my FCP preferences? I did do a repair of disk permissions a couple of days ago, but will do it again. In regards to the truncated file, if I understand what you mean, no they aren't truncated, but I was referring to each trial test had a different duration seemingly dependent upon which preference settings I was using.by Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoDerek, I did start the new project from scratch. It is only about one minute long and that is the only one I've been testing with. I have tested this project with all three sequence settings that have been suggested on this forum: a) Uncompressed 8-bit, b) Photo Jpeg, c) DV-NTSC all to no avail. All have rendered basically the same results - It tries to export then suddenly stops. It produces a Qby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoI did what I think is a full render. I marked "Full" on the drop down list (it hadn't previously been marked) Here is the screen shot. It still didn't export correctly, only a few sec's. Also, I thought I was using 720x480.by Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoSorry for the confusion, Mike. You're right. When I try to import the small (incomplete) QT file it tries then it stops and no message is left. I tried the FCP just to see what would happen. My problem is I can't make a full QT video. I hope this helps. I think this is only one screen. I have 7 of them. I guess I don't know how to "archive" like Dave suggested. When I say it didn't work I mean it tries to export for about 1-2 sec then stops. It leaves a brief 2 sec video to wherever I saved it. Just to be clear, I'm now working with the new one minute sequence I referred to previously, per Jude's suggestion. That way we aren't dealing with the possibility of it being too long or whatever - (I guby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoDave, I'll be glad to do that. Maybe a screen shot of my Mac info if you need it. One thing, I've never heard of Dropbox so would need to know how to do that. I'll be home in a couple of hours. Thanks for caring, Nickby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoI'm away from my computer at home now, but I'm pretty sure that when I tried to import the DV NTSC movie file directly into DVD Studio, without going through Compressor, I got an "Incompatible Format" message. I am using the Current settings. I have tried a number of variables, and not in a hap-hazard way, just experimental. I find it hard to believe that my system w/ 10 GB of memory, and 180GB of HD and a 2.27 GHz Quad Core intel processor, Pics of 720x480 res @ 72 dpi won't handle what I'm trying to do. I'll follow-up on your suggestion when I get time tonight. Thanks, Nickby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoThank you, Loren. I will certainly give that a try. But I still have the problem of not being able to export to a QuickTime Movie even after I tried Jude's suggestion of a one minute test in FCP. Of interest, perhaps, is that when I tried using the sequence setting of Photo JPEG I got 22 sec's of video instead of 2 sec's when using uncompressed 8-bit. No, I'm not using a USB, my pictures are reduced to the size I mentioned at the onset, no I have no pirated software, and I will learn and I do appreciate your help. Thanks, Nickby Nick Munning - Café LA Re: Exporting a sequence of still images from FCP to DVD Pro - 13 years agoDave, thank you very much. Yes, your info does help me and I understand that I need training, and honestly, I have tried to read about it long before I started asking for advice. I will continue to do so and seek more help from tutorials. I was hoping to make this a special DVD for my son & finance'.
