Re: OT-Fate of the Mac Pro? - 11 years agoApple was ahead of the curve with powerful machines about 3 years ago, but now you can buy 16 and 24 core PCs for a good price. I am wondering what strategy Apple is pursuing, or is everything tactically? So you have items named logically. File management is a critical part of pre-production/editing/production. This greyed out name problem does not occur on my FCP 6.03. You type the name in the description area, then click on the name area. It would change the gamma of the clips when in play mode, and have a different gamma when in pause. I cured it, in this situation anyways by applying a Broadcast safe to the clips. Now I know it will write back to the XDCAM as files, but does it lay it back as the edited files as I have named them such as "Operator answers phone", then Camera pans across screens", as an example. Or does it lay the entire sequence down as one file? It will import all chapters etc, and create a new Project in Encore. It will bypass all the intermediate converts and in my opinion is the quickest, and highest quality way to do it. As there were three effects, desat, brightness and contrast (unique to each clip) and then the CC Sepia tone, the remove attributes, copy/paste attributes was not an option. Does FCP X have the option of instanced effects? I found this link in regards to what I needed tby mark@avolution - Café LA Filter Instance versus Filter Copy - 11 years agoWhen you copy the filter attributes from one clip to another, you are always creating two unique filters that are imdependant of each other, rather than instanced to each other. For example, In 3ds Max you have the option of instancing an effect (called a modifier in 3dsMax) or copying the effect. (We only have FCP on the Mac, and Adobe Suite on the PC) So, we use FCP to edit,export a QT ProRes. Import the QT to Premiere, use Adode Link to Encore- and burn a blu-ray there. I ended up creating a slug, adding a timecode generator filter, then cropping the slug to the appropriate size. The timecode is actually used for Emergency Response Video time on the video, and acts as a digital clock of sorts. So, for example after the timer reached 10:00:00 the responders were all done. I think the problem may be that aja io 3.1 doesn't really support leopard, while 3.0 does. However, I have never uninstalled anything in OSX, as Windows has a "uninstall program". Here above might be my problem.... I will look up on th internet on how to unistall aja io 3.1. Although I had all the media drives backed up, I did not have a system drive backup. I have ordered a 1.5G drive to back up the system drive and all executables such as FCP motion and of course the OS. If you use Carbon Cloner (which I NOW will) you will have a nice backup in case of bad things happening. (Notice I said generate, not shoot) We had a client that had mounted their plasmas vertically in their facility, and insisted that they stay that way.
