Very true about PSD files and Motion, it reads multi-layer like a dream. But not the case for ai.. An ai can be used as a Motion path if create on Mac Illustrator, but not a PC illustrator. As a 3D Studio Max user, I was excited to load custom paths into motion; however this limitation shut me right down. For the 10 computers here, only one is a Mac. There are tons of caf files that can be loaded into STP; but how do I export to a wave with only two tracks. Most of the sample files have 6 or more tracks. I tried actions/flatten all/export wave, but I just end up with a 6 track wav file in FCP.by mark@avolution - Soundtrack Pro

This isn't really fair to all the PC users of Photoshop who also use FCP and Motion. It's great to say that the format is slightly different in a PC and Mac PSD; but the bottom line it should operate the same regardless of platform. As an animator there is really only a few options, uncompressed all the way. Either mov with million of colours +, or a targa, tiff, or png sequence. Remember, unlike most video, animation is uncompressed on render. To keep the quality, you want to use the best codecs possible. If you really want to keep quality use an uncompressed video timeline as well.by mark@avolution - Café LA

As a preamble, may I say I have no problems connecting and ingesting from the PDW-F330 with the Mac, FCP system we have. -The camera menu is set to FAM. However, when I bring the camera over to the Vista machine (64 bit, 8 G Ram) and connect the camera via the firewire connection- there is no evidence of any connection whatsoever. -Windows does not try to install new devices -nothing shby mark@avolution - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

I had read in Creative Cow from some of the forums quoted from the "designers" that "certain features were left out in the first release". Here's a suggestion, don't pull an Autodesk, where they are constantly releasing software that has not been production tested (Autodesk 3ds Max 12) is a good example. I have never had a problem loading an avi file into QT Pro. Export as ProRes 422. Edit in FCP. Export in ProRes 422. Convert to FLV in Adobe Encoder. The client had no problem loading the FCP XDCAM 1080p converted via batch to h264. h264 files are nice and small for the upload to ftp: And I got introduced to CuteFTP for Mac, something I have been using for 10 years or so on the Windows platform. We are ingesting into FCP but doing a batch export after a rough cut. But I guess h264 will be the best bet. Usually we export to persons with FCP and not imovie. Googled it and got no meaningful results, It is after hours here, and the client only has imovie and we have FCP 6. I was afraid if I ftp'd XDCAM or Prores, that imovie would not read it. Another thing I've heard is never power up or down a firewire device whilst connected to the firewire connection. As a safety precaution I always make sure the Sony XDCAM 350 is in the power up state prior to inserting the Firewire.
