Re: 3D Space - 17 years agoWithout even mentioning that advertising frequently implies an "embelishment" of facts, one can assume that when Apple portraits someone who uses Motion (or FCP or DVD Studio Pro) they mean AMONG other things.... In the case you mention, it would be completely unthinkable for a specialized motion design studio like Mekanism not to use a combination of After Effects/Combustion and 3D appby Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: Off Topic, but I figured yall would know (Combustion 3.0) - 17 years agoAmazing that in its' short life, Motion has probably already surpassed Combustion in terms of resources, ie, books, training DVDs, dedicated web sites, web forums, etc. That in itself speaks volumes, doesn't it?by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: Tracker in Motion? - 17 years agoNo tracker in Motion, but our friend specialcase wrote a script that can export position values from After Effects to Motion, thus allowing to take advantage of AE's Tracker in Motion. Bear in mind that the tracking technology is AE's recent versions is really good, much better than it used to be.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: applemotion.net updated - 17 years agoCongratulations, Mark. I'm going there to check it right now!by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: Decklink / OS X / Motion Fixed - 17 years agoGreat to know. I really miss the video desktop!by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: This can't be right - 17 years agoEditing systems are usually track based, motion graphics applications are usually layer/object based. It makes sense for the kind of job they do!by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: Maximizing Motions Performance - 17 years agoWell, there's a simple tip that might help. It seems Motion's RT performance gets better in some cases when it doesn't have to show the selected object's control elements (handles, lines, paths, etc). You can accomplish this by deselecting the object (Command - Shift - A) or temporarily turning off overlays completely (Command - Slash).by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: 32-bit Motion?? - 17 years agoHey, Mark! Actually, we were both partially right and partially wrong The option is there indeed in Project Properties. And it does work for 16 bit. But when you choose 32 bit float a sign warns you that "Your hardware doesn't support this resolution" or something like that. I hope I get rid of this poor GeForce FX soon! All the best, Adolfoby Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: 32-bit Motion?? - 17 years agoI think you need one of the high end graphics cards (like the 6800, X850, etc) to get 16 bit and 32 bit float support. You surely don't get that with a FX5200 or 9600 range card. Not sure about the ATI 9800 range.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion When did these Image Units appear? - 17 years agoHey all? I am not sure if it was after Pro Applicatio support 3.1 came out or with some other update before that, but I found an Image Units category full of things in the Library. These are the Image Units that come standard with Tiger, but I swear I didn't see those before. Did I miss them or Motion just got able to see them after an update? There are very interesting things there (and many repby Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: Applying Mattes in Motion 2 - 17 years agoSelect the Photo and go to Object > Add Image mask (Command-Shift + M). Drag the Matte object to the image well in the Image Mask properties (Dashboard or Inspector).by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: G4 user advice?? - 17 years agoNope, there is a 9600 Pro and a NEW 9800 Pro 256 MB coming soon that will work with both G4s and G5s. The "old" 9800s are out of production, but still available AND they come with ADC/DVI connectors (an ADC to DVI adapter is $100!). Video card memory is not the only thing affecting performance, the 9800 family has more processing power. In the www.barefeats.com web site you'll find benby Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: flipping disks - 17 years agoJenelle: While doing some tests to see if I could help you, I found that it's easier to do if the sides of the disc are still images and you have access to Photoshop. There are some specific difficulties when you apply the filter I'm going to mention below to images with masks (that you would need to make the sides "circular". So, ideally, what you need is to first create circular imaby Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: Motion 2 Plugins - 17 years agoGraeme: How are you? IMHO, one of the most painful omissions in Motion is Trapcode Soundkeys-like functionality. I mean the possibility of sound information driving visual parameters. This is hard, since Motion doesn't have expressions to link parameters. But you solved harder problems than that, right? After Effects nowadays does this (in a simpler way) without plug-ins, because frankly, it'by Adolfo Rozenfeld - Motion Re: importing DVD files - 16 years agoIt's not a settings problem. VOB files are multiplexed elements. They are not supoposed to be a source for editing at all. You need a demuxer (not a particular program, just a kind of program). For example, MPEGStream Clip is a free program that does what you need. Google for it or search in www.versiontracker.com (Mac OS X).by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: how to export just a part of the timeline? - 16 years agoYou set a range with In (I) and Out (O) points.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD@CCESS Auto Launch? - 16 years agoAs I said, you have to write an autorun.inf file and place it in the root directory. If you google "how to create autorun.inf" you'll get all the information you want. The text file will be very similar to these two lines open = FolderWhereDVD@accessIs/NameOfInstaller.exe Not much more than that!by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: Language codes - 16 years agoYou created a second language for menus, but you didn't specify a different language than the first one. If you really want your menus to be in two languages, you first have to go to the Outline window, select "English-2" and then in the inspector change it for the language you want. If you got this second language by accident, go again to languages in the Outline tab and delete "Eby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: web script for stand alone dvd player - 16 years agoNo script needed at all. Once Hal gave me a suggestion that totally works for me. As you surely know by now, DVD@ccess doesn't really work on button activation, but rather it's actually triggered at the beginning of a separate menu that's linked to the button with the web/file/e-mail link. So, what you could do is: link each button that would trigger web links to a 10 sec. empty menu, basicallby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD@CCESS Auto Launch? - 16 years agoIn my limited knowledge of the Windows platform, I believe you could easily build an autorun.inf file that points to the DVD@access installer. But, as Steve Jobs would say, this is many times seen as "bad karma". People don't appreciate discs that start installing things they don't know in their computers. One intermediate step could be pointing the autorun to a (local) web page that exby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD Studio Pro button transition - 16 years agoButton transitions in DVD SP doesn't point towards animation in the appearance of the buttons but rather they are animations that happen after the user activates a button and before the button's destination. H Half of what you need (delaying the buttons' appearance) can be achieved by setting a loop point in DVD SP. The loop point allows you to set the specifc time spot in which buttons become viby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: digigami or compressor? - 16 years agoIn FCP's or Compressor's timeline, place a compression marker (regular marker in Compressor) in the middle of the defective dissolve. That will help, because it will force a new I-frame. However, if you go and rent or buy a doumentary DVD shot on video, you're very likely to see the same kind of thing Post Edited (07-25-06 12:53)by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: digigami or compressor? - 16 years agoIf you perform a seach in this forum, you'll find lots of stuff. Be prepared to be surprised, though. Some notorious compression experts, like Ben Waggonner, have pointed out that, at least in terms of visual quality, Compressor's MPEG-2 encoding is superior to Digigami's or BitVice's. He said Compressor 2 is the best encoder on the Mac, period. I am not a notorious compression expert, but my expby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: moving pic possibility? - 16 years agoYou can make an hybrid disc, one that mixes DVD-Video with interactive Flash or Shockwave content. Of course that will only play back on computers (at least the interactive content), but it would be the only way to do what you say. The last version of Macromedia Director, for example, allows you to create interactive Shockwave material that links to video on a DVD (I assume you want also video toby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: moving pic possibility? - 16 years agoIn a strict way, it's not part of the DVD specs. It's doable, but... 1) it's rather complex and 2) As has been recently discussed here, other creative limitations arise as a consequence. Basically, what you need to do is to enable automatic navigation on the menu. Automatic navigation is a feature that activates (rather than select) a button automatically (duh) when the user goes to that button.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: sound for buttons, transitions - 16 years ago"I have always been told that you can NOT have audio when a Layered Menu is used for a DVD??" You can't have audio using the layered menus as such. But you can have audio by manually creating a system that works in a similar way to the logic that layered menus use under the hood. I guess the reason why they left audio out of layered menus, is because it would be hard for some authors tby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: sound for buttons, transitions - 16 years agoAdam: Bear in mind that a lot of the tools in a user friendly application like DVD Studio Pro are just easy-to-use, automated approachs to what pros usually do manually. As I said, DVD Studio Pro transitions don't have audio. But to say the truth therre's no such a thing as "transitions" in the DVD specs. DVD Studio Pro just places an intermediate clip between your menu and your track.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: sound for buttons, transitions - 16 years agoHello, John. No, while he mentioned buttons on the title, he then asked more about transitions rather than buttons. So I pointed to a way in which you could have a transition clip with audio. On the other hand, you can have audio feedback for button rollovers by designing a system of twin menus and automatic button selection. You surely know what I mean, but if you don't, let me know and I'll bby Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: sound for buttons, transitions - 16 years agoThat is not possible using the automated transitions. But nothing prevents you from creating a track with the video and audio contents you want, and placing that track between your menu and the target track.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD Audio Levels/A.Pack Encoding - 16 years agoAbsolutely. PCM audio will be just the same. Dolby too, unless you do something that screws it and DNV/compression profiles get in the middle. It's important to understand that Dolby's dynamic range control is not really a modification of the audio information, but rather something the player executes in real time.by Adolfo Rozenfeld - DVD Studio Pro |
