Re: Chapter Marker import problem - 16 years agoIn DVDSP it is best to switch the Track timeline to Asset Based Timecode, if you haven't already, for TC based stuff like Chapters, Subtitles etc. Right Click on the TC bar to do this. Just below the Chapter Marker Area and above V1. Do this before adding to the Track. In the Encoder Settings (in Compressor) check the Extras tab and make sure DVDSP Metadata/Include Chapter Markers is selectby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD Skipping when file larger than 4.1gb - 16 years agoHUH!?! Hi John - I think you mean 4.37GB. You do not loose over a GB!! Plus DVDSP knows this so in the Disc Inspector you can go upto nearly 4.7GB. That issue is probably more due to non-ClassA media or burn speed rather than capacity but it can be a good idea not to fill the disc to the max. Of course it could also be a bitrate issue too. When this stuff happens its good test in moreby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD Studio Pro Audio in Menu - 16 years agoAs you've probably figured there is no options to adjust Audio Levels in DVDSP. Sounds to me like you're importing a files that dvdsp has to convert or there is an issue in your workflow somewhere. Why not adjust the audio in FCP, STP etc. Delete the file from DVDSP. Import the new file and re-build from scratch. Or even test the audio in a new project to see how it sounds.by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Delayed button appearances on motion menu - 16 years agoIf you haven't found the answer yet - Yes you can. You need to set the Loop Point for the Menu. There are rules to follow though as not all Menu Types in DVDSP can have a loop point set,by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Can a dual layer DVD hold 4 hours? - 16 years agoYeah you can put lots of hours on a DVD but the trade-off is quality. If your encoder and footage is ok with low bitrates then fine. If your footage needs more bits then you'll see blocking etc. When you start to get too low sometimes using half-D1 is a better option. For 4hrs on a +R DL you're looking at about 4.3 Mbps avg bitrate with 192 Dolby Audio. Its your call if thats ok for your foby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Please help (no one replied) DVD only playing only on Mac - 16 years agoWhat is at the root of the Disc? VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS or HVDVD_TS? If it is a HVDVD_TS you've authored a HD project and will need to re-do it as a SD Project or try to get your disc to play in a HD DVD player... If it is a VIDEO_TS your best bet is to Output a .img from DVDSP then use Disc Utility, Toast or similar to burn as you can control the burn speed. Burn no faster than 4x. You can just choose the other drive from the Output Device drop down in the Format Window.by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Need to Pause During Movie Presentation... - 16 years agoIf the client wants to control the pauses and resume then just tell them to use the Menu Button. If Track 1 is playing they press Menu and go to a holding Menu. When they are ready to continue just press Menu again and it'll Resume from the exact point they left off!! Hope that helps if not let me know and I'll help some more,by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Final Cut Pro - 16 years agoMight be best to ask in the Final Cut Pro forum but why not buy in Sweden? I've not been to Varberg but Stockholm has resellers so I'm sure they'd ship Final Cut Studio to you,by Jake - Café LA Re: Sound missing on DVD - 16 years agoDo you have anything in A1? You typically use elementary streams (separate) in DVDSP. So mpeg-2 for video and PCM or AC3 (Dolby) for audio. You need to encode the audio and drag that into dvdsp, add it to A1 and try again by the sounds of things. Maybe check the manual for compressor quick or tuts on here like: Plus remember PCM audio takes up more bandwidth than Dolby streams. Aifby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Burning Blu-Ray - 16 years agoNo you cant use DSP to author any Blu-ray Discs. Depending on what level you're after there may not be any Mac solutions for you currently. You could try Adobe Encore if you're feeling brave. Or use Toast 9's authoring option but again that will not suite a lot of people needs. If it is just for your own playback needs then you may want to use HD DVD content on DVD-R or +R DL and play it inby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Problems with DISC End ACTION when Chapter SKIPPING !! - 16 years agoScripting will not help you with this. The scripting is not that advanced and is nothing like Actionscript/Lingo type languages. Of course Blu-ray and Java offer this level of control with Scripting on next gen titles,by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: How to stop disc from spinning after motion menu - 16 years agoHey Charles, Set the Timeout of the Menu to a Script with Exit in it. This will put the DVD Player in Stop State. You may want to find a Sony or Toshiba type player and use Jacket Pictures to display graphics instead of the players default screen (when in Stop State) if you have control over where the disc will be played, Cheers,by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Problems with DISC End ACTION when Chapter SKIPPING !! - 16 years agoJohn - I think they are cool with Chapter to Chapter skipping but don't want Title to Title skipping. steveswisz - Sounds to me like setting the UOPs is your first option to sort the vast majority of players out. So select the Track/Story and set the UOPs for each. Focus on ensuring Title Play is disabled for all (at Track/Story Level aka Titles) and then you may want to select the last Chapteby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: FFW and RW - 16 years agoNope! I added it to the Lafcpug Feature Request List but you can tell Apple what you think here Apple DVDSP Feedback Page.by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Losing sound - 16 years agoThere are files that should not be included in the Pre-Master which are present in the VIDEO_TS Folder when you Build (not Format) the Project. Those are good Warnings and other things like PAR Folders are removed also if they have been created in that directory. It's all in the manual though Newer versions of dvdsp have had it changed in the Log from Warning to Note. As for the sound wherby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: HD DVD authoring - 16 years agoHey guys, MPEG-2 is supported by both HD DVD (no hyphen) and Blu-ray. In fact it has mandatory support. And HD DVD material played off of the hard drive or DVD-R is fine in controlled environments for sure. At least you can then show HD shot material in HD... izbot it is important to know the constraints of using HD in dvdsp cause if you think you can just send it out and everyone will be ableby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: How can I lower the volume of an aif track dragged to the main menu? - 16 years agoCool. Glad you're all sortedby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Compatability with double layer DVD9's - 16 years agoHal/John - What Apple Drives are you guys using that support -R DL? This Mac Pro is showing -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW no -R DL. And the same for the MacBook Pro by me... new iMacs, old G5's? I cover a few ways to check what discs your burners support here: How to Find the Media ID One being Apple > About this Mac > More info then looking at the Disc Burning section. At the bottom you'll see the Audio section. Select the aif and delete it. Hopefully you can break out of the horrible loop now, Cheers,by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Can anyone tell quality difference @ these bit rates? - 16 years agoSure people can tell the difference but it depends on the footage. Some footage needs more bandwidth than others and how are you checking the encodes? Full speed? Frame by frame? On a 30" screen? Broadcast monitor? Are you using a tool like Digigami MPressionist Pro to help etc.by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD Studio Pro FEATURE REQUESTS: Post them HERE - 16 years agoI'd like to be able to have multiple Projects open at a time.by Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVD studio Settings 16:9, 4:3 and quality. - 16 years agoYeah you should be encoding 16:9, authoring with items set to 16:9 LB and so on. On TVs remember you have to set the DVD Player Settings to match your TV Settings! As in nothing to do with DVDSP. When viewing in Apple DVD Player press Apple+1. That is the actual size, how does it look now? If you play fullscreen on a hi-res display its like scaling a web graphic far larger than it should be afby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Problems with region-free discs in Vietnam... - 16 years agoIf by "professionally copied" you mean replicated then there is a higher chance of the Regions Mis-match being a problem. It could be something else for sure but I've seen it being less of a problem with recordable media than replicated masters. If you have it fail in a laptop you could drag the VIDEO_TS folder to the HDD and play it to see if it is ok and narrow things down to Pre-Mby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Problems with region-free discs in Vietnam... - 16 years agoNa it is very much Apples fault having the default like that! I bet there are a lot of people out there using recordable media and not making the project region all as it should be... Are you sending the discs direct or are they being duplicated(/replicated) somewhere else? If you could report back to confirm that all you changed was the regions tab setting and it made the disc playable thaby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Problems with region-free discs in Vietnam... - 16 years agoHey Arno, You are not making a Region All project with those settings. DVDSP used to default as Region All like Scenarist and other apps but then it changed!!! You obviously need to enable All Regions to make it Region All, which includes Region 7. In fact, Region 7 should always be enabled! but that is a whole different story! I have mentioned this Regions Default setting in the Stickyby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: setting up a track to repeat. - 16 years agoHey Hal and strypes, You may or may not want to End Jump to the Script every time. B, C & D can just End Jump to A. You only really need to jump to the script after A has played. Add GPRM 0 , 1 Jump TrackB If (GPRM0 = 1) Jump TrackC If (GPRM0 = 2) mov GPRM0, 0 Jump TrackD Cheers, Jakeby Jake - DVD Studio Pro Re: Many Coffee Coasters/Dual Layer Break Point Blues - 16 years agoWhen you Build to the Hard Drive you can then bring up the Format Window. The Markers you can choose as the Layer Break will not be grayed out. If you want to add other Markers in range or find a range you should add Cell Markers. So add a Chapter Marker then uncheck the Type: Chapter option in the Inspector. Build again and check the options in the Format window again... Add the Chapter Entries required so effectively duplicate Track A twice. You now have Track A, Story A1, Story A2, Track B, Track C & Track D. Track A End Jumps to Track B. Track B End Jumps to Story A1. Story A1 End Jumps to Track C. Track C End Jumps to Story A2. Story A2 End Jumps to Track D. Track D End Jumps to Track A. So you reallby Jake - DVD Studio Pro |
