Re: Why does ProRes choke my machine? - 11 years agoPlayback stutters, Derek. After Andrew's response, I copied a project to a FW800 drive and that plays back flawlessly. So I guess that answers that.by chad haberstroh - Café LA Re: Why does ProRes choke my machine? - 11 years agoI'm mainly working off of a terabyte ethernet server with about 100 gb free. STP manual states "For example, if the dialogue in your project averages around -12 dB on the level meter, enter -12 in the Dialog Normalization field." Then it says "If you enter -31 dBFS, the attenuation is 0 dB (31 dBFS?31 dBFS), and the source audio levelby chad haberstroh - Soundtrack Pro Media Composer and Firefox Conflict? - 12 years agoKicking the tires on MC6 and realized I wasn't able to lasso. A quick Google search found an Avid forum thread from 2010 stating there was an unknown and mysterious conflict between MC3 and Firefox 3.5.x. Fast forward to 2012 - MC6 and Firefox 10.0.2 - and sure enough, when I closed Firefox I was able to lasso again. I was under the impression that the seconds value told it when to start rendering after rendering became necessary. The timer is customizable in preferences. Up to 999 seconds it appears. Setting it to 1 second didn't make it immediate but that could be my machine's fault.by chad haberstroh - Café LA - X "Background Rendering" - 12 years agoYeah, I guess. They're purchased through a little stand-alone widget thing called the App Store that showed up in one of the last couple of point releases in Snow Leopard. You can't purchase X without it. I refuse to believe that Apple has completely forsaken the pro base. I share the theory that they're attempting to reach both markets (pro and not) with the same core software - FCPX. Gone are the days you'd drop $1k for the complete Studio box, and we're entering a world of a la carte FCP. Need XML inby chad haberstroh - Café LA - X Re: OH . . . MY . . . GOD - 12 years agoStarted playing with Premiere CS5.5 last night as well. It's exactly what X should have been. Don't have it in front of me, but there's a toggle on the left side of the track (I think) that turns on the little slider line things on the clips in the timeline so you can use the pen tool to keyframe opacity.by chad haberstroh - Café LA - X Re: The Real Question... - 12 years agoHave been thinking about this and reaching out to some folks since "The Drop". Why? Because to me it's unfathomable that they would release X in its current state and hope that we'll wait around for them to get it back to where it needs to be before jumping ship. It's abundantly clear that we've been forsaken for a larger market. I'm often using Motion to create multiple lower thirds for a project and thus use Compressor for batch exports. I've been advised that it could be an issue of QT 7.5 not playing nice, though the QT update was done last week and I've been using Motion daily since without a problem until yesterday. When using the command+shift+e command to export from Motion using Compressor, Motion crashes. Every time. Was fine yesterday and have not done any software updates since. Can export directly out of Motion (but need to do a batch). Trashed Motion and Compressor prefs and repaired permissions. Compressor fires up on its own just fine. Heby chad haberstroh - Motion |
