Hi all. I'm happy & exciting since I'm in LA at the moment !!! The is my first time been here and have chance to show up my work to public in SIGGRAPH 2008. HOWEVER, I'm not quite happy with their event management. My question is, other than the SIGGRAPH community, any good community, conference, film festival, contest is good to contribute ? I understand the software are quite expensive. Well, you may try the Google by using the key words "Free Font Converter" but that is not easy to found the solution. or, the "Apple LiveType" seem to be able to create raster font, but I'm not sure because I not use it very often. I'm not sure, because I still use my old copy of fontogarpher=) Have you try the demo ? Accounting to the Specifications of FoutLab 4.6 OSX, it should be work fine since they could export the Mac TureType too. Antonio Huiby Antonio Hui - Motion

Did you mean you want to create a tailor made font then import to motion ? I remember in the old day while no 3d program support double byte font, I use a font editor called "fontogarpher" (original from Macromedia) for convert the chinese text also the vector graphic object into English font. Well, it seem to be a purely compression issue, since the output is look great on the video tapes. One the limitation of today's streaming compression technique are mostly designed for video not for graphic. The graphic element of the video always don't look prefect especially with fast motion. Also, the "Illusion" don't need a G5 to run. A reasonable openGL card with a low-end computer could provide a very good quality output too. I first use the version 2 on my windows PC thats only running at 500Mhz with a Nvidia GeForce 4mx. Antonio Huiby Antonio Hui - Motion

Yes, motion 2 could run on OS 10.39 with the quicktime 7 installed. However, my motion 2 is upgraded from an upgrade pack for motion 1. so that, I'm not sure, is it be the same with the FCP studio upgrade pack (since, I don't have it at the moment) Good Luck, Antonio Huiby Antonio Hui - Motion

Yes, maybe just eating to much... Try to shorten the raw footage or scale down the image that you not plan to use or over the zoom ratio that you don't needed. Hi Matt, Since I have not yet started any trial on MAX+MOTION, I guess the better way for linking the MAX and Motion is using external midi. Like myself, I have no plan to run them in the same computer, I'll kept the MAX run on my iBook and then link them by a midi cable. However, it is possible to run them in one computer too. No, as I mensioned, that is the original ATI 9800pro mac edition with 4x/2x AGP bus. I already moved that from my old G4 to G5 without done any special, just plug and play (then a happy smile, myself =). I only need to re-connect the power cable to the harddisk's DC plug. quite simple at all. That is suggested by the offical ATI web stie. Antonio Huiby Antonio Hui - Motion

Thanks John, Yes, even someone could find the way to run the motion on their slowest mac (like myself=) finally they will found the overall performance are limited. But the good news is, the ATI 9800pro mac edition is compatible to G5. so that the user could save some money when update their G4 to G5. May be this one too. I just bought it for the motion 2, because of the small foot print, 25 full size key and lot of knobs & wheels there. well, I'm still waiting for the standalone upgrade pack from the Apple Store, so that, don't have more information at the moment. First, the height should be 316 pixel, since it is needed an extra space for the "show controller" option. Also, I cleaned up some "/" at the "<param...>" line too. Have you heard any strange noise from the hard disk ? Hope you not, otherwise you may don't have chance to recover it. My iBook is dead recently when I worked in Egypt. No one could save me at that moment. After I back to Hong Kong for a month, I still don't have mood to send in back to the apple service. You could export a PNG with alpha channel enabled by using the "Save for Web" option from the illustrator. Personally, I like the PNG than the PSD format. Sometime, I even using Firework to create vector graphic directly. FCP love it most=) Antonioby Antonio Hui - Café LA

Me too. I'm very young in archaeology too (only 15 months old) and I often forgot the name of those temples=( The photos are taken mostly on Ramesseum at Luxor, Egypt and others from Aswan. Have you try to change the "video processing" to "Render in 8-bit YUV" and set the "Process Maxium White as :" to "White" ? It should be all right for converting the image in RGB to YUV color space Sequence Settings > Video Processing Antonioby Antonio Hui - Café LA

Did you means a little tiny black edge around that object ? If yes, try to switch the alpha mode of the selected object to "black". Control click> Format > Item properties > Alpha > .... "black" (that is for v4, I guess, v5 are the same) Good Luck, Antonioby Antonio Hui - Café LA
