Need help with importing layers of PSD: mismatch of layers - 14 years agoHi everyone, I would appreciate our help. I will try to be brief, while still being precise. I have jpg. I went into photoshop, selected a part of the image, say one of the people in the still. The background layer is now layer 0 (default as it unlocks) and the selected part of the layer 0 was copied to a new layer (layer 1) for scale animation in motion. Yes, pretty basic so far,by ericwaraujo - Motion Re: Capturing using camera cuts - 15 years agoBy the way, I case it helps someone, imho the perfect suggestion for using that command is assigning a Shortcut key to execute it . (since it has to be executed on every single clip in the browser individually, I capture tapes in clips that range from 10 - 15min clips). If I may, I suggest "/" with no modifier key, since it is empty. (and I use Y to toogle Linked selection already).by ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Capturing using camera cuts - 15 years agoScott, I have used it, and it works perfectly for what I had in mind, thanks a lot. Seems like I am going to save A LOT of time by not cleaning footage just to have the cuts to find the shots later. Actually changed my workflow.by ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Capturing using camera cuts - 15 years agoYes, subclips, you're right. Thanks again!!!by ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: bad dvd copies, why? - 15 years agoHi, think you have solved your problem by now, but let me offer more suggestions. When exporting from FCP, keep in mind the export setting will be those from your timeline settings. to check that, click command-0. I would leave it interlaced, since you are going to a standard DVD, I understand. Now the real suggestion. You can always use the settings that ship in Compressor.by ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Losing Render or Thumbnail Cache Files - 15 years agoHi, I think you probably solved your problem by now. Anyway, first thing to check is where your Render and Thumbnail Scratch Disks / Folder are assigned to be. Maybe they are going on/offline for being in an external disk, that might be not on all the time? Just a guess. Go to menu: Final Cut Pro> System Settings Check if it is all like you would expect them to be. (render checkboxesby ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Capturing using camera cuts - 15 years agoO ho ! That is a great step already, then I just go with the blade tool and cut them. Many thanks!!!by ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: PAL & NTSC mixed in same project - 15 years agoHi, I am constantly dealing with this these days. May I suggest another option? Use compressor, look for the preset you need under "advanced format conversions". If you are going to convert footage from NTSC to PAL (which is what I do very often, maybe you will do PAL to NTSC) use DV, BUT I changed one setting or two. Go to frame controls, turn it on. Change "Rate Convby ericwaraujo - Café LA Capturing using camera cuts - 15 years agoHi everybody, Quick question: Is there a way to have FCP capture a DV tape creating the clips automatically by acknowledging camera cuts? I thought I read something about this years ago, and now I have a couple of tapes here (30 second B roll shots) that could really use this feature. Many thanks for checking this thread. Best, Ericby ericwaraujo - Café LA From HDV 60i to SD PAL, Can I do one single compressor job? - 15 years agoHi everybody, quick question (hopefully). My producer in evaluating the option of getting footage from the junkets she does as HD. (And I am assuming it is HDV 60i). Normally we get a beta tape (NTSC) and capture it in FCP and afterwards I do a format conversion in Compressor and voila, SD PAL footage. So, if I get HDV 60i footage, can I crop and convert it to SD PAL in one single jobby ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Why can't I import my HDV footage from Canon HV20 camera - 15 years agoHave a look at this too. I have been doing basic still animations using emitters and so forth, pretty sweet. I know that motion was not created for image treatment, but I wonder if there is any way of doing something like removing a trash bin from a background, a boom/mic from the frame, a passerby from the background and so forth. Maybe this thread will help you, not sure. The temporary solution I am using is unchecking the anamorphic checkbox in the sequence settings and distorting to corner points of the image. I don't think this is the best solutioby ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Quick question: DV footage shot anamorphic, but needs to be delivered fullscreen. - 15 years agoHi Josh, thanks for your posting! I really just wanted to crop the image in a quick way. The footage was shot as anamorphic. So, the way it is right now, I have two options: Check the anamorphic box in the sequence settings: I still have 720x576, but the image is displayed in widescreen (correct image, but widescreen) Uncheck the box: and the image looks stretched vertically (fullscby ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: Quick question: DV footage shot anamorphic, but needs to be delivered fullscreen. - 15 years agoBy the way, if somebody is interested in doing it "the wrong way" like I am doing so far: I am changing the sequence settings by turning the anamorphic checkbox off. (the image will be stretched vertically) In the viewer, in the Motion tab, in the Distort item, I am changing the first column values (x values) from the standard -360, 360, 360, -360 (=720/2) to -512, 512, 512, -512by ericwaraujo - Café LA Quick question: DV footage shot anamorphic, but needs to be delivered fullscreen. - 15 years agoHi, I am sorry for the newbie question, but I would appreciate your help. The footage was shot (with a Sony HVR-Z1U) in (PAL/50i) Anamorphic DV. When I capture it, FCP cleverly notices that the image is anamorphic and adjusts the sequence and so forth. (In QT the clips open already widescreen, for instance) BUT, I need to deliver the piece Fullscreen. I am used to Maya where you Alt+click on empty canvas and the cameras tumbles. (Click Alt + RMB and the camera zooms and so forth) What I understand so far, to tumble the camera, you have to click on a button on the upper right side on the caby ericwaraujo - Motion Re: NTSC to PAL conversion issue - 15 years agoHI everyone, I am starting to use the Nattress plug in, and it is fast. I wonder if anyone uses it too. I am converting DV / DVCPRO 720x480 to PAL , but the end result is a video that is PAL but looks like it is almost anamorphized, images get streched in the vertical direction. I just looked for set ups in the control panel o the filter itself. Thanks by the tip on the Raid, I've been using Raid every now and then, but I have to go back to more mobile solutions every so often depending on the project. I heard a lot of people complaining about Lacie drives in the past. I do have to say that I never had a problem with a LaCie that wasn't foreseeable. I am working with EPKs that a few studios only provide in Beta. (Some studios provide files at www.epk.tv but sadly not all) We are facing something around $75 per tape to transfer those tapes to file or DV Cam. So we are thinking about getting a Beta deck, but we only have MacBook Pros at our disposal. I wonder if there is suby ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: The classic PAL doubts... HDV is NTSC or PAL? probably none... - 15 years agoThanks of all the tips! I definitively will take Andy Mees' tips about shooting in 50i (bg fan you your tips on FXScripts!) And I have to say that Andreas Kiel just SAVED my day yesterday. I went to shoot something indoors. Guess what kind of lights they had? Bingo, Fluorescent! The flickering is just terrible, unacceptable. So I went ahead and changed the camera to 60i. Not the best,by ericwaraujo - Café LA Re: The classic PAL doubts... "Hands On HDV - A complete guide to the HVR-Z1R and HDR-FX1" So I just found out that with this camera I can, among other options, shoot in HDV and when outputting, output in PAL SD, with crop option!
