Re: Quicktime clips won't play - 14 years agoThanks, Tom. I assumed that was probably what I needed to do but just wanted to make sure I was headed on the right path.by chill - Café LA Quicktime clips won't play - 14 years agoI just had a computer crash and was able to restore virtually all of my applications but for some reason my DVCPRO HD (720p60) clips will not display video. I can hear the audio but alas I see no video. I've been trolling the forums and suspect that somehow one or more of my QT Pro codecs is missing or corrupt. Does this sound correct? I should mention that I am on version 6.06 of FCP. Is thby chill - Café LA Save The Documentary Institute - 15 years agoHi folks, I am writing with some unfortunate news. The University of Florida?s Documentary Institute, of which I am a proud member and co-founder, has been targeted for elimination by the dean of my college. Sadly, this news comes just weeks after a Doc Institute team took home a first place student Emmy (this is the 3rd year in a row a Doc Institute film has captured top honors in the Academby chill - News and Announcements Re: Feedback wanted on new doc trailer - 15 years agoThanks folks. I will have a brief burial ceremony for my fonts. I promise. Right now the reason I do not have more VO clips is because Chava (Petr's sister) is all we have at this point. I will certainly work on shortening the animation, getting it formatted properly, (it was supposed to be a widescreen output, so I screwed up somewhere) and fleshing out the story.by chill - Show and Tell Re: Feedback wanted on new doc trailer - 15 years agoThank you so much for the prompt reply. Yeah, I too worry about my font choice. Any suggestions on a substitute type? As for Petr's music, I wanted to set a whimsical tone to offset the horrors around him. We very much want this to be told from the imaginative perspective of a child. However, I do realize that this is tricky territory to navigate. By 16 he had produced 120 drawings and paintings, edited an underground magazine in the Theresienstadt Ghetto, and written numerous short stories. Corrupt Project Drives - 16 years agoI will spare you the gory details, but my hour long documentary has disappeared into Neverland as a result of a drive failure. I believe the crash may have been caused by either a directory failure or too much media being stored on the drive. Disk Warrior shows that the media is there. It simply cannot be recovered. Can anyone suggest a reliable data recovery company that offers a fairly quby chill - Café LA Looking to fill two faculty positions at The Univ. of Florida - 17 years agoThe University of Florida The University of Florida?s Department of Telecommunication seeks candidates for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning August, 2007: 1. It will be airing as part of the Independent Lens strand on PBS this Tuesday at 10 p.m. I worked as the DP and offline editor. Our online editor Dan Spiess (Digital Lighthouse) did a great job with the project. Unfortunately, I cannot access them because they are embedded OMFI files. Do I need to purchase a conversion program or is there a way to access these files in FCP? Thanks!by chill - Café LA A tall and skinny problem :-( - 18 years agoOkay, maybe I get the dumb bunny of the year award, but I am having a devil of a time getting my 16:9 anamorphic sequence (clips are anamorphic and sequence is anamorphic) to convert to 4:3 letterbox. I have tried, repeatedly, following all of the instructions available in my user's manual and on the web. Basically, I have created a duplicate copy of my anamorphic project. I have to tell you this is a really vexing problem, especially when I am faced with editing an 80 minute documentary involving a WWII soldier who liberated a slave labor camp! Pictures are going to play a significant role in the piece. ;-( Cindyby chill - Café LA FCP Studio weirdness - 18 years agoI am hoping someone has a simple explanation to my problem. Every time I try to place a dissolve between two still images or try to fade in and out of text, my picture shifts.
