maintain speed changes - 16 years agoApple needs to fix the issue in Final Cut Pro where when opening up a project after it has been saved and closed, some speed changes are not as they were when the project was previously opened. First I thought the issue was going from version 5 to version six. Many audio files that required speed changes no longer had those speed changes on them when opening that project file in version six.by chrisrash - FCP Feature Requests Re: Quicktime Pro X with Final Cut Studio? - 14 years agoUPDATE: In case anyone is having the same problem, this is from Squared 5's website: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html QuoteThe Snow Leopard upgrade DVD released on August 28 may wipe the content of the /System/Library/QuickTime folder during the upgrade process, and delete your MPEG-2 Playback Component installed in that folder. When trying to bring transcode a .VOB file from a DVD using MPEG Streamclip, it tells me that I have to buy the $30 Quicktime MPEG-2 Component. Never before installing Snow Leopard did I have to buy a special plug-in to transcode material from a DVD in MPEG Streamclip. Somehow, Quicktime Pro 7 got thrown into Utilities. Thanks, Noah. I'm guessing that I only have Quicktime Player X and not Quicktime Pro X. Doesn't the installation of Final Cut Studio include Quicktime Pro? My theory is that since I installed Final Cut Studio 3 when I was running OS 10.5.6 and then later installed Snow Leopard without doing a clean insby chrisrash - Café LA "Make Multiclip Sequence" seems to have changed - 14 years agoSo in FCP 6, when selecting a bunch of clips in the browser and selecting "Make Multiclip Sequence", it would create the sequence and stack the clips from difference cameras, which occurred at the same time, and changed the sequence timecode according to what the camera timecode was. This was an easy way to see which clips would eventually be made into multiclips, as well as a good wayby chrisrash - Café LA Re: FCP 7: Motion 4 : Color 1.5 ect :-))) - 14 years agoI wish they would add "text controls" to the Paste Attributes list. As the camera tracks by a television you can see the camera reflected in the TV. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know how bad it is, but what would be the best way to cover up the reflection? Can I make two layers of the image, select that portion of the TV screen where the reflection will be (but isn't yet), and cby chrisrash - Motion Re: speed changes - 15 years agoI just found that option last night and didn't have time to post. It's unfortunate that XML's won't carry over speed change data from FCP when sending to STP, but I'm glad that altering the speeds by more than preset percentages is available.by chrisrash - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrack Pro 2 vs. ProTools LE - need advice. - 15 years agotangierc Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You brought up some good issues. I know I didn't draw that stuff in in STP. I'm wondering if the XML between FCP and STP somehow drew that in there. Before these projects became surround, I was doing pre-dubs in a stereo environment and never noticed this issue. Any ideas?by chrisrash - Soundtrack Pro Re: speed changes - 15 years agoAs far as I know, that option does not yet exist in Soundtrack Pro.by chrisrash - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrack Pro 2 vs. ProTools LE - need advice. - 15 years agoQuoteOne of the issues I am facing in addition to testing an FCP, STP, Logic workflow rather than an FCP, PT, Logic workflow is whether or not we need to purchase XML-PRO. We have sync issues often when I send my OMF file to our Pro Tools system. With STP 2 we wouldn't have that problem ( I assume) since it imports OMFs and is from Apple. However our sound guy doesn't know STP. With the DV toolkit, Pro Tools LE or M-Powered would be the perfect tool because you can still open one of those sessions on a TDM system. The one thing that Soundtrack has going for it is the Conform feature. If your cut is going to change at some point during your mix, the Conform feature works beautiby chrisrash - Soundtrack Pro Re: Log and Transfer won't take P2 contents... - 15 years agoFixed it. I have no idea how it happened, and now STP won't let me reconnect it to the right clip. When I select the clip I want to reconnect, that option in the "Clip" menu is grayed out.by chrisrash - Soundtrack Pro Audio hangs up and is out of sync - 15 years agoMy situation is a bit of a mess. The project that I've been working on started as a 29.97 NTSC FCP project (so we could work with smaller media) that became 23.98 Apple ProRes once we got the HD masters that the DV NTSC tapes had been copied from. Conforming the video was much easier than I had envisioned with only a few little hangups here and there caused by the process of going from 30 to 24by chrisrash - Soundtrack Pro Re: Converting from NTSC to HD - 15 years agoSo here's an interesting development. I thought this would never work, but I gave it a shot anyway: I copied everything in my 29.97 sequence, pasted it into a new 23.98 sequence and made everything offline. I then reconnected to the 23.98 media to the 29.97 clips and despite the warning that the rate and media start/end times were different everything reconnected fine. In some cases, the DV footage is captured in whole one-hour reels, but some of it was captured clip by clip. Well, we've captured the HD footage as Apple ProRes so that we can make a copy that we can actually show at festivals and whatnot, but we want the flexibilityby chrisrash - Café LA Re: Uprez DV NTSC to to HD - 16 years agoThanks for replying, Mark. If the Apple ProRes had been around when we started this whole mess, we probably would have just started with that to begin with. But we are where we are, so I have to deal with it. Yes, I realize all to well the problem that is conflicting frame rates. Now, the post house where it was done is making us a ProRes copy of each reel at 23.98. Is the process of uprezzing the 29.97 footage to 23.98 as simple as selecting all of the master clips in the browser and hitting batch capture?
