3/4 inch tapes to digital, set up help - 6 years agoGreetings, I work for a non-profit that has about 1000, 3/4 inch tapes they need to digitize and store onto hard drives. What is a good set up for this? Computer? Aja or black magic?by kevin - Café LA - X plug in for cleaning up old footage - 7 years agoI do work for a non profit and we have hours and hours of old footage shot and captured to 3/4 inch tape. It was done in the 80's and early 90's. Does anyone know of a plug in for FCP that can help me clean up the footage and get rid of some of the video "noise"?by kevin - Café LA - X multicam not working - 8 years agoused 2 canon cameras, all the footage shows up in my events, when I select both then right click and select new multicam clip I get the clip but only have one angle. I choose from the window drop down show angles but only see one angle. Any ideas why? Im going to reimport cam 2 footage and see if that helps.by kevin - Café LA - X Re: Can you install fcp 7 and fcp x on same computer? Or will it actually use 32 gigs?by kevin - Café LA - X Re: OT kind of, video card for FCP X - 11 years agoThanks! Just been reading about it. Thats the next purchase.by kevin - Café LA - X OT kind of, video card for FCP X - 11 years agoI have a mac pro and X won't run with my current video card. Any recommendations? Thanks, kevinby kevin - Café LA - X Re: loading footage from Canon Vixia HD30 - 11 years agoin iphoto, file>export>slideshow, then choose the size. I do believe that to capture from the vixia you will need to upgrade.by kevin - Café LA Re: loading footage from Canon Vixia HD30 - 11 years agoWhat version of FCP are you using? Won't work with some older versions of FCP.by kevin - Café LA Sound track pro vs soundforge - 13 years agoI have a buddy who has done sound work in soundforge and won't use STP while editing footage because he says its not as robust as soundforge. I have found STP to work just fine. Has anyone else used both and do you have any thoughts about one over another. Its more of a curiosity thing with me and an attempt to understand more. Thanx, Kevinby kevin - Soundtrack Pro pro rez foootage looks pixalated - 14 years agoI have some hdv footage that I captured using the "apple pro rez" setting. When I look at it via a blackmagic card to a monitor it looks bad. You can see the interlacing and pixals. When I use straight hdv it doesn't look this bad, what gives? Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: buying computer - 15 years agoyes to above, but get more than 4 gigs of ram if you use "Motion", it makes a difference for me. dual 2.7 ppc w 6 gigs of ram kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: OT: shuttle your tapes? - 15 years agoThanx Loren, That was my thought, but I had one lock up on me last week and I wondered if I should do the "winding forward then back" before dubbing thing. kevinby kevin - Café LA OT: shuttle your tapes? - 15 years agoYour thoughts on shuttling tapes for before print to video? I'm using sony dv cam tapes. kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Best software choice for HD green screen keys - 15 years agodv matte pro or dv matte blast. Great results for the money and zero learning curve. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: color not working - 15 years agoActually, I've used it on several other projects with good results until I went to leopard and quicktime 7.3.1 kevinby kevin - Color Re: color not working - 15 years agoversion 1.0.2 for Color. Yes I'm sending it from the file browser. No tracks are locked. Are you using quicktime 7.3.1? Decklink says its compatable. kevinby kevin - Color color not working - 15 years agomac 2.7 dual, decklink hd pro, 6 gigs ram When I send project to color all I get is digital mess. No image, just artifacts. I used to not have this problem, I upgraded to 10.5, quicktime 7.3.1 and now its a digital mess. Is there a work around, update, or do I have to back to 10.4 and quicktime 7.2? Kevinby kevin - Color Re: pro res or hdv on macbook pro - 15 years agocheck out this article that should help you make up your mind. good luck! kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 and Pro Res 422 - 15 years agoThe damage was done during the filming with HDV so the image isn't better. Fx and compositing after capture will be better because of the better color space. Don't know about the subclips. It does give time code on my capture. It is not like the capture now setting. You don't get a dialogue box with buttons, it just starts capturing the moment you hit "apple 8". Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 and Pro Res 422 - 15 years agoYes, you can capture via firewire to pro res 422. On my set up I have a dual 2.7 gig machine, not the latest intel machines and I capture HDV as pro res, it is a straight uncontrolable device type capture, no in and out points, it starts were the tape head is on your deck and just captures. kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 6 to Flash - 15 years agoSo your not using Flash 8 to convert your files? I have a bunch of video that I want to convert for the web for a non profit. Flash seems to be the way to go. I just have been waiting to see what the costs and learning curve is. Anyone have some insights with the learning curve? kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Problem recording HDV - 15 years agoThe external is daisy-chained with other drives though. My guess is that is the problem. Make it a selfcontained movie and play it from an internal drive. Gook Luck, Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: HD to DV Downconversion...Best Quality - 15 years agoanother really great way is to import your sequence into color and convert it there. That gives you the option at the source to letterbox or crop and fill the screen from clip to clip. good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Getting Good Results with Green Screen Filter... any siggestions for a third party plug in that works better? - 15 years agoGoogle dv matte garage, specifically dv matte blast. It works amazingly well! Kevinby kevin - Café LA |
