Gamma Question - 14 years agoHello, I have a question regarding gamma. I just upgraded my Mac Pro editing stations to FCP7, and I was wondering what gamma to set my monitors to when I calibrate them? It has been my understanding that with past versions of FCP, all computer monitors should be set to 1.8 gamma while any external video monitors should be set to 2.2 gamma. Right now, I am running two Samsung computer monitby lafsctech - Café LA Monitor recommendation? - 15 years agoGreetings, I am wanting to upgrade the monitors for one of my FCP system, so does anyone have any recommendations? I currently use a 23" Apple Cinema Display as the primary monitor and a 23" Samsung HDTV as the secondary preview monitor. I would like to upgrade to a 30" monitor as the primary monitor and at least a 24" (1920x1200) monitor for the secondary preview monitby lafsctech - Café LA Re: Mixing 16-bit and 24-bit audio in the same timeline - 15 years agoThanks for the info! I took a 48/16 AIFF and converted it to a 48/24 AIFF in Compressor, then put them both in a timeline in FCP. They edited seamlessly without rendering. I guess I could have done this in the first place! But thanks anyway!by lafsctech - Café LA Mixing 16-bit and 24-bit audio in the same timeline - 15 years agoGreetings: I am in the process of transitioning from editing in 48kHz/16-bit to editing in 48kHz/24-bit; that is, I have been editing traditional DV/HDV footage, and I will be upgrading to Red in the near future. Question: with FCP 6, can you mix different bit rates (i.e. 16-bit vs. 24-bit) in the same timeline? I know mixing different sample rates (i.e. 44.1 vs. 48) can cause problems, butby lafsctech - Café LA Re: STP 2 and Desktop Cinema Preview - 16 years agoI don't know about previous versions, but it looks as if 2.0.2 fixed this problem. Patrickby lafsctech - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrack Pro FEATURE REQUESTS: Post them HERE - 16 years agoI thought of one more: 4.) The ability to color code buses and submixes. STP gives you the option, but they don't actually change colors and remain the default green. When sending tracks to buses, it would be nice to match the them with the same color. Patrickby lafsctech - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrack Pro FEATURE REQUESTS: Post them HERE - 16 years agoI teach STP and FCP to undergrad film students. Here are 3 features that I think are needed in Soundtrack Pro: 1.) An autosave vault feature (i.e. like FCP). A simple one-time "revert" feature is not sufficient. If STP crashes and you haven't saved recently, you're hosed. 2.) The ability to have multiple sequences/timelines in a single STP multitrack project (i.e. like FCP).by lafsctech - Soundtrack Pro Re: STP 2 and Desktop Cinema Preview - 16 years agoI have the exact same problem, and I have exhausted everything I can think of to try to fix it. (trashing preferences, repairing disk permissions, resetting PRAM, creating a new project and reimporting media, etc., etc., etc.) The only thing that I can conclude is that perhaps it is a flaw in STP, which hopefully Apple will fix in the near future. As a workaround, I just separate the Videoby lafsctech - Soundtrack Pro |
