Re: Extreme Editing : Up a Mountain - 15 years ago"I am a mortal. Nothing in the world would make me repeat the experience of standing night after night in that cold with snow and wind machines blowing at me, continually falling on slippery ice and sleeping badly because of the altitude" Harry, I agree with you completely. You can add to that list making stupid decisions because of lack of oxygen. Like, which pocket did I put my spaby 50tigers - Café LA Re: Extreme Editing : Up a Mountain - 15 years agoHi Kate, I had no problems with batteries on Everest. We used solar panels to charge up a car battery and then ran our equipment off the battery. (The yaks hauled all the gear up to 21,000) We had tons of power - enough to run the stereo and keep all the camera, computer, bgan and sat phone batteries charged. I kept my batteries in my sleeping bag at night when it was cold even though itsby 50tigers - Café LA Re: Extreme Editing : Up a Mountain - 15 years agoHow high are you going to be using that Macbook Pro? Be very careful of the altitude, especially if you are relying on this computer to backup a tapeless workflow. In 2004, we destroyed a G4 in advanced base camp on Mount Everest. At 21,000 feet the hard drive blew itself to bits because of the low air pressure. It's a horrible sound. In 2006, when we went back, we didn't take the G4 above 17by 50tigers - Café LA Re: EFFECTS question. Can i squish an image? - 16 years agoAndy, Yes, this helps a lot. Thanks for taking the time to explain. Hours and hours of fun await me, as I am slowly learning how to use Motion. But this thing about advancing a frame at a time. Isn't there something called motion tracking? Where you rotoscope the first frame and the software figures it out through the remaining frames? Or an I dreaming? - Carolynby 50tigers - Café LA Re: EFFECTS question. Can i squish an image? - 16 years ago"If you have a way of cutting the person out of the background, it'd work better." Can I ask what the best way of cutting a person out of the background would be? I think I know in theory how it is done, - it involves the words rotoscope, motion tracking, alpha channel and composite. But can you do this in Motion? Or do you need another application, like After Effects, which I haveby 50tigers - Café LA puzzled over formats - 16 years agoHello, I've been given some clips with a variety of extensions - mpg, img.pl and plist. I have no idea what those last two even are, except that I pulled them off a homemade DVD from Italy. The footage is in DV PAL. MPG is I believe MPEG1. I was hoping that I could drag the clips into compressor or streamclip and convert them. But nothing works. Can anyone advise me? The footage is realby 50tigers - Café LA Re: Cross dissolve problem - 16 years agoAh yes. Reseting it as the default worked. Thanks so much.by 50tigers - Café LA Cross dissolve problem - 16 years agoHello, My problem is that I cannot seem to get the keyboard shortcut for a cross dissolve (I'm using cmd T) to work anymore. I do not think it is a problem with a lack of video handles etc, because I can still get a cross dissolve by going to the effects menu, or by key framming. But this takes longer, and besides, it was my favorite keyboard shortcut. Can anyone help? I'm using a dual coreby 50tigers - Café LA STP 2 question about layout - 16 years agoI've just started learning STP, and I having problems with the layout. I am also having problems finding the correct terms to phrase this question. On my computer, the bar immediately below the tool bar (what is it called????) does not have a box for tempo and key, like it seems to do in earlier versions of STP. It has a drop down menu that allows me to change sample rate, or grab a blade toolby 50tigers - Soundtrack Pro Re: Soundtrack Pro 2 Problem - 16 years agoI have an idea what might be wrong here, but my disclaimer is that I am a newbie and I've just started learning STP. Might be wrong. However, I did just do the Lynda tutorial on transposing, and I was very confused to discover that in version 2.0.1 I couldn't just control click on the clip to get the transpose menu. Or maybe it was option click. Whatever, it didn't work. I eventually foundby 50tigers - Soundtrack Pro |
