Re: Flash bulb effect filter, generator or transition. - 12 years agoThanks John I will give that a try. I also found a Sugar_FX plug in that's called paparazzi that comes in their "Light-Pack" set of filters. It's only $79.00 so I might try that. Thanks again for your help. John.by edubs717 - Café LA Flash bulb effect filter, generator or transition. - 12 years agoI'm Looking for an effect that creates circular flashes like paparazzi to transition text or photos like in this clip; www.q2-sports.com/view-reel.html Not to be confused with the traditional "flash-frame" or "white-flash" transition. I've found a couple in my CM and BCC filters but they only come close. For FCP, Motion or AE. I keep trying the Noise Print function, looked it up in the manual and followed the instructions, but I don't think its working because it doesn't change anything and when I listen to "Noise Only" there is nothing there.by edubs717 - Soundtrack Pro Dreaded Camera Mic - 13 years agoMedium shot, talking head, well lit and talent performed adequate but when the shotgun/boom mic didn't "work" it was decided to shoot with camera mic. Sounds terrible. Is there a filter out there that deals with this specifically? I've been messing around for awhile now and can make it sound "different" but not really "better". Thanks for any help. I tried disabling the FX filter plug-ins and still got the beachball on start-up. However when I tried to move my work files to another FCP box the server wouldn't copy them, so I'm back to thinking this is a "server issue". I will report back. Thanks Againby edubs717 - Café LA Re: Spinning rainbow ball on startup - 13 years agoO. K. The server is back up but still getting "beachball of death" about 3/4 of the way through the startup. I've noticed it doesn't make it far enough to place a new preference list in the prefence folder. Any thoughts would be appreciated.by edubs717 - Café LA Re: Spinning rainbow ball on startup - 13 years agoSorry guys scratch that last inquiry. It appears we are having "server issues". Non FCP related. Thanks anywayby edubs717 - Café LA Spinning rainbow ball on startup - 13 years agoFired up FCP this morning but it won't finish starting up and just gets stuck on the spinning ball. After the FX Factory logo and after I tell it to continue without external devices it just seems to stop without completing the start up. I have to force quit. Tried starting from different projects and just from the icon, did a hard shut down and trashed the prefs to no avail. Help. Also explains why the demo file they sent me shows up as "MPEG2 Muxed" in the inspector. My initial tests with program streams didn't import however that might have been audio format incompatibility. At least now I can narrow my testing, thanks.by edubs717 - Café LA Slightly OT: Kiosk Delivery - 13 years agoThe software for the self-contained Kiosk LCD panel is PC/Windows and will only load a 720x480 MPG file that has audio. No audio no import, can't be a seperate file. I can't seem to find a setting in either FCP, Compressor or MPEG Streamclip that doesn't SPLIT the audio into a seperate file. Tech support for the panel says they use TMPG to encode MPG2 with mpeg-1 layer-2 audio. TMPG is aby edubs717 - Café LA Re: Downconverting HD to SD in Compressor - 13 years agoThanks Jeff I'll give that a go. I'm guessing that since I am only re-sizing I should not mess with the other frame controls like "de-interlace" & "rate-conversion"? Thanks againby edubs717 - Café LA Downconverting HD to SD in Compressor - 13 years agoHey Guys. Thanks for any advice up front. I am making a SD DVD from both HDV (ProRes Timeline) and SD clips (Uncompressed-8-bit, DVCPRO-50 and DV NTSC). I've learned on this forum that it is almost always better to downconvert the the HD then to Upconvert the SD, and to also stay away from DV NTSC CODEC if possible. However the tests I've run look pretty bad. The frame size is changing from 1440x1080 to 720x480. Or should this "re-sizing" be a seperate process from the encode? Thanks for any info. However many of my clients like to put not only their current feature but past feature(s) on a single DVD-9, something quite common in the action sports world. My question is are there encoders i.e. Telestream that perform better at a lower bit-rate. I am wondering if anyone is using the Telestream products (Episode or Episode Pro) to encode to SD DVD, and what the results are compared to Compressor. My system is a 2 x 3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Mac Pro with 6 GB RAM but I'm just using my interanal SATAs (stripped together).
