I'm Looking for an effect that creates circular flashes like paparazzi to transition text or photos like in this clip; www.q2-sports.com/view-reel.html Not to be confused with the traditional "flash-frame" or "white-flash" transition. Thank you Craig, you are dead on in your assessment. I keep trying the Noise Print function, looked it up in the manual and followed the instructions, but I don't think its working because it doesn't change anything and when I listen to "Noise Only" there is nothing there.by edubs717 - Soundtrack Pro
Dreaded Camera Mic - 13 years ago
Medium shot, talking head, well lit and talent performed adequate but when the shotgun/boom mic didn't "work" it was decided to shoot with camera mic. Sounds terrible. Is there a filter out there that deals with this specifically? I've been messing around for awhile now and can make it sound "different" but not really "better". Thanks for any help. Thank you for your responses masterbluestar and Joey. I tried disabling the FX filter plug-ins and still got the beachball on start-up. However when I tried to move my work files to another FCP box the server wouldn't copy them, so I'm back to thinking this is a "server issue". I will report back. Thanks Againby edubs717 - Café LA

O. K. The server is back up but still getting "beachball of death" about 3/4 of the way through the startup. I've noticed it doesn't make it far enough to place a new preference list in the prefence folder. Any thoughts would be appreciated.by edubs717 - Café LA

Fired up FCP this morning but it won't finish starting up and just gets stuck on the spinning ball. After the FX Factory logo and after I tell it to continue without external devices it just seems to stop without completing the start up. I have to force quit. Tried starting from different projects and just from the icon, did a hard shut down and trashed the prefs to no avail. Help. FCS 2.0by edubs717 - Café LA

Ah-Hah. I did not know that, though it makes perfect sense. Also explains why the demo file they sent me shows up as "MPEG2 Muxed" in the inspector. My initial tests with program streams didn't import however that might have been audio format incompatibility. At least now I can narrow my testing, thanks.by edubs717 - Café LA

The software for the self-contained Kiosk LCD panel is PC/Windows and will only load a 720x480 MPG file that has audio. No audio no import, can't be a seperate file. I can't seem to find a setting in either FCP, Compressor or MPEG Streamclip that doesn't SPLIT the audio into a seperate file. Tech support for the panel says they use TMPG to encode MPG2 with mpeg-1 layer-2 audio. TMPG is aby edubs717 - Café LA

Hey Guys. Thanks for any advice up front. I am making a SD DVD from both HDV (ProRes Timeline) and SD clips (Uncompressed-8-bit, DVCPRO-50 and DV NTSC). I've learned on this forum that it is almost always better to downconvert the the HD then to Upconvert the SD, and to also stay away from DV NTSC CODEC if possible. If I am making SD mpeg-2 files for DVD from a 1440x1080 ProRes SCQT should I be adjusting the frame controls in compressor? The frame size is changing from 1440x1080 to 720x480. Yes I realize that putting over 4hrs of material is asking a lot of any compression device. However many of my clients like to put not only their current feature but past feature(s) on a single DVD-9, something quite common in the action sports world. My workflow is HDV tapes to ProRes timeline to ProRes SCQT. Then Compressor to encode MPEG-2 for SD DVD. Sometimes I deliver for the web but not often. I am wondering if anyone is using the Telestream products (Episode or Episode Pro) to encode to SD DVD, and what the results are compared to Compressor. Compressor has always worked fine with the settings I've developed mostly by readingby edubs717 - DVD Studio Pro

Thank you Jeff, I've downloaded some Easy set-ups from Ken's tutorial so I'm assuming one of those may work. My system is a 2 x 3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Mac Pro with 6 GB RAM but I'm just using my interanal SATAs (stripped together). Just to be clear, I want to use the Pro Res timeline and ProRes SCQT to improve effects quality as well as have a better looking DVD? Thanks EArl W.by edubs717 - Café LA

My HDV footage was already captured and I usually edit in an HDV timeline and export a HDV SCQT for use in compressor. I've seen some posts and also read Ken Stones article on capturing HDV in ProRes and editing in a ProRes timeline but what if my footage is already captured? Thanks EArl W.by edubs717 - Café LA
