So sorry if this is a basic question all you pros... I'm not really an editor, more a director. I've just been handed a hard drive with over 600 Gigs of footage to view and select from. All the files are Quicktime movies. I have FCP 6 on a Mac Pro running Lion and the files are on a portable G Drive. Wow, you guys really got into this! Guess the occasional break for levity is a good thing. So, after all is said and done, let me report back that I just completed the 2-day seminar on No-Budget filmaking that the i.d. was supposed to facilitate and there was never any problem; never got slammed against the wall or waterboarded for registration codes; and walked away with a good jolt of &qby carlos48 - Café LA

I'm registering for a film workshop at Raleigh Studios this weekend and can get a $50 discount by showing proof of membership in LAFCPUG at the door, but I don't have any kind of I.D. that says that. I'm just registered with you. Any suggestions? Thanks.by carlos48 - Café LA
Applying Ambient Noise Not Working - 13 years ago
So I'm just learning Soundtrack Pro and I learned how to set an ambient print and apply it to replace noise. First several tries were "Whoa! This is way cool!" as I'm working to clean up a badly recorded project. I would make a change, switch back to FCP, and squirm with pleasure as I heard the much improved change. No question: you guys are rock stars! Thanks for the answer, but more importantly the tip. I'd never come across that potential sync problem warning before; and I have run into the problem. I'm thinking the monitoring is good for logging, but then should be turned off before the actual capture. Make sense? Anyway, thanks for getting me a bit closer to conquering the upgrade hump. Profuse apologies if you've already aired this one out to death, but I've been away and now the prodigal returns... Just upgraded from 4.5 to Studio 2 and can't for the life of me figure out how to turn my speakers on during capture like I had it before. Doesn't make sense to me that you wouldn't want to hear audio during capture. I capture from a Sony deck, not the camera, into a G5 runningby carlos48 - Café LA
