Re: Broadcast Quality: Is H.264 enough? - 12 years agoThank you. Very helpful. Gives me a pro perspective. I'll deliver the message. Thanks again, Scottyby sgscott - Café LA Re: Broadcast Quality: Is H.264 enough? - 12 years agoThanks Gerard. However, I don't have a vtr/dtr, and I am trying to go digital delivery. I suppose I will have to have a tape made or get a machine if that is what the station requires. Its just that up to now, I have been able to deliver digitally.by sgscott - Café LA Re: Broadcast Quality: Is H.264 enough? - 12 years agoThanks Walter. So sorry to hear about your friend. The file comes out to about 14 gb with PCM audio. I value your opinions and just wanted your thoughts on this, considering the 1080i target media. When I finished, I went to render the remaining clips (aprox. 200 of 400), and realized the previously rendered clips showed as not being rendered at all. I looked at the Color Render directory and everything was there. I know it sounds strange; but that is the job I've been given. What should the SD seq settings be? And do I just drop an HD seq or mov into it and not accept the conform seq settings? Thanks.by sgscott - Café LA Re: Exporting Part of a Mix - 12 years agoI did some more tests and found that if I was exporting as an mp3, that the entire mix is exported regardless of In and Out points; wav or aiff worked fine.by sgscott - Soundtrack Pro Exporting Part of a Mix - 12 years agoThe manuel says you can export part of a mix by marking In and Out points (cycle region); but it doesn't seem to work for me. The whole timeline is exported every time. Anyone else seeing this?by sgscott - Soundtrack Pro Broadcast Safe Scan - 12 years agoIs there a way to check an entire seq for broadcast safe? Is the only way to look at frames? No scan or plugin check like high audio peaks that can tell you where they are? Scottyby sgscott - Café LA Re: 24p - 12 years ago"Export the final, and convert that." Right. Easy enough. Not sure about your other question though. The targets are both DVD (ntsc) and web, not broadcast at this point. The Nattress... sounds interesting. Will check it out. I really appreciate his Color plugins. There is various footage, but nearly all has been run through Color and so now complies with the above settings. A lot of the original footage was shot on handhelds (Sony HDR-CX-550v, AVCHD, 1080i). A comment was made that we should make the sequence 24p to give it a more movie-like look. What do you think? Would changing it to 24pby sgscott - Café LA Color Project Crashed - 13 years agoI was 3/4 through my Color project when my system hung and I had to reboot. The color project now aborts color when I try to start it. Is there any recovery possible? How do I contact Color support? Is there any Color Tech support? Thank you. For instance limiting. The Adaptive Limiter changes not only the dynamic; but also the length. Whereas the Limiter does not. Whether the process you use changes the file length or not is easily recognized by the check box on the right side of the Actions List. When I edit a clip in the project Editor, like a delete, a new STP window comes up with nothing in the project tab; but a new tab in the lower window section titled BKBrowserModule? I have no idea what this is. But the rest of STP is sick too. The Actions tab doesn't update properly and things like that. I want to de-interlace the footage first, then pass it to Keylight. What is the recommendation for de-interlacing in this case? Do I need to bake the de-interlaced footage before applying keylight? QuoteScotty, Please use H.264. The reason is due to how it is designed to be used verses the MP4. The background on both is that they are both part of the MPEG-4 standard (see ). What is called MP4 (see ) is really part 2 of the MPEG-4 spec and is similar to mpeg-2 (used in dvd's) and DivX, and is based on the h.263 codec wheich is used for video conferenby sgscott - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: Should I De-Interlace 1080i for downloads? - 13 years agoQuotestrypesWhen in doubt, and they provided a droplet, use it, then the onus is on them. It is the DVI port on my FSI LM-1760 I am using for a 2nd desktop monitor. BTW, the FSI is great! The only drawback is the size. 17" is almost too small. But using it to double as a desktop monitor leaves a lot to be desired. Scottyby sgscott - Café LA 2nd Monitor - 13 years agoI'm looking to add a second monitor to my mac pro. Curently, I'm using the DVI port on my broadcast monitor and switching back and forth for this purpose; but there are times I need to see both at once. I've borrowed a couple of different monitors to try in this position and realized, I don't want something cheap. I currently use an Apple 23" Cinema Display (older model) and I like it.by sgscott - Café LA Re: Color ui out of wack - 13 years agoThanks Andrew. You're right. I pulled the card out and Color now seems to work fine. Well, back to the drawing board. So it seems that as long as both monitors are on the primary video card, things works fine.
