Re: Crappy Quality - 18 years agoThanks so much, Tom. (and others who would could offer insight) My goal is to import assets to DVDSP and output quality audio and video. When I was working with IDVD -- no problem. I just saved as a Quicktime file and dropped it in -- burned it -- beautiful. The problem is with DVDSP and me using Compressor. So you're saying that I should just export from FCP as a Quicktime File and then imby shelleyrae - DVD Studio Pro Re: Crappy Quality - 18 years agoI have a G5 Quad with 4 gigs of Ram. The format I'm working with is mini DV. The footage looks good on tape and it also looks good in Final Cut. But when I burn a DVD it's grainy. Looks worse on some monitors than others but none of them are great.by shelleyrae - DVD Studio Pro Crappy Quality - 18 years agoI have a 90 minute program that I burned using compressor. I used the preset 90 highest quality. It took about an hour to burn but the quality is still crappy. Is there something else I should do to get better output quality?by shelleyrae - DVD Studio Pro Re: Italicize Fonts in Livetype - 17 years agoOh boy, how did I miss that?-- right there in the text box -- I was looking to effect it elsewhere. I knew it had to be something simple...thanks a bunch.by shelleyrae - Café LA Italicize Fonts in Livetype - 17 years agoHi, I'm working on a Livetype project and want to italicize the Ariel Bold font I'm using but can't seem to figure out how to do it. Seems like there should be a way to do that?by shelleyrae - Café LA Flipping an image - 17 years agoHi Everyone, I'm working with some running footage and would like to horizontally flip a clip so that it looks like the car is going L to R instead of the way it was shot R to L. I know there is a way to do this but can't remember how. Please refresh my memory. Thanks, Shelleyraeby shelleyrae - Café LA Multi Tasking - 17 years agoHello Everyone -- I'm working on several projects and alternate between my G4 Powerbook and G5 desktop. When I'm compressing with Compressor on my G5, I would love to be able to continue to work on other projects on my G4 Laptop, but Final Cut Studio doesn't want to let me have the application open on both computers simultaneously. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the license for Finaby shelleyrae - Café LA Final Cut Studio 5.1 upgrade - 17 years agoHi -- I'm currently working with Final Cut Studio 5. You can upgrade from FCS 5 to 5.1 for $49. Are there any benefits to upgrading to the cross grade 5.1 if you don't have the new MacBook Pro or iMac with intel? I just bought the G5 dual processor and am also still using my G4 Powerbook. Thanks.by shelleyrae - Café LA Re: Changing the Prefs - 17 years agoHi -- I just read Larry Jordon's "troubleshooting" section on Lynda.com and have followed his recommendations for maintenence and repairing glitches which includes 1) restarting computer holding down shift key, 2) running utilities disc repair, 3) restarting without holding any keys down, 4) running FCP resuce. I have done all of the following but remember now that a while back I lockby shelleyrae - Café LA Re: Problems saving audio file - 17 years agoDerekmok, You are right. The mistake I made was dragging the file to a CD without going through the Itunes burn feature. I went through the burn function of Itunes and it worked and I am able to play the CD on various players. Thanks. >what am I trying to do? The file is a Soundtrack Pro audio project. Buby shelleyrae - Café LA Problems saving audio file - 17 years agoThis is really a Soundtrack Pro question but I'm hoping I'll get a quicker response if I post this question here. I have created an audio file in STP and done some repair work. Now I just want to output it to a wav file which should be simple enough but when I go "export with compressor" that option is grayed out. I've tried selecting the entire file but it's still grayed out. So Iby shelleyrae - Café LA Re: Limewire - 17 years agoGee Whiz, I didn't mean to create such a stir. But I realize now how my wording could have been misconstrued. Please know that I am fully aware of penalties for copyright infringement and that I have utmost respect for all artists and would never rip any one's work to make money. Like many editors, I use music to set the pace and mood of of the edit during the rough cut phase. It has three buttons, "Trash", "Restore", and "Backup" What order do I perform these tasks? I'm assuming I would first backup, then trash, then restore. Occassionally the sound will mute in the canvas and/or the browser. I have not pushed the mute button. If I close the project and open it again most of the the time the sound comes back on. I'll work for a while and then it will mute again. Any ideas on why this would happen? Also, I'm wondering if tby shelleyrae - Café LA Limewire - 17 years agoWondering if Limewire downloads are safe. I'm trying to get content from a home-made DVD onto my hardrive so that I can bring it into FC and edit and burn a DVD of the edited content. I got all excited because it looked like it was working but when I opened the folder there were no audio TS files. I was able to import the video files into FC so that was cool. I've just been going straight from final cut to compressor, using the default Mpeg 2 and Aiff settings and have had very good luck with quality. These are usually projects under and hour long, though.
