Can't Import Media from Sony EX3 - 13 years agoIn an earlier post I asked how to import tapeless media from a Sony EX1 (but it turns out it's an EX3). I was advised to download the XCAM Transfer tool so I did and finally got that operating. However, I just received the test footage from the Sony EX 3 (not EX1) It was sent to me via YouSendIt. I downloaded the file from YouSentIt and it appeared in my Downloads folder as an .MP4 file. Having not worked in HD nor a tapeless format before, I wanted to do some research before I start the job. I watched a tutorial on Lynda.com that says the Log and Transfer window will convert the files from the P2 card with the QT wrapper so FC can work with the footage. But--I will not be getting the P2 card. They are telling me that all the copies they made have errors that say "Disc previously viewed" and that this is the a result of a faulty master I provided. I checked the master DVD I created on two DVD systems before sending it and it played fine. To clarify, it was FC2 Studio. He said he edited the video in its native format - HDV1080i60. So if he exported an uncompressed, self-contained QT movie directly from the FC timeline, and uploaded that QT file to the FTP site, then theoretically I should have been able to download that file and import into FC3 Studio with no problem, correct? This thread is a week old so wasn't sure if I should stay here or start a new thread. I'll try here first and if I don't get a response will start a new thread. Here's a recap on the problem: I downloaded from an FTP site a 3.3 gig Quicktime File that was made using Final Cut 2. The original source is HDV 1080i60 and was edited in FC.
