Re: Matching 7D to Sony Z1U footage - 13 years agoMostly trying to get the footage to look alike from a frame rate and progressive/interlaced standpoint. I need the footage from the 7D to look interlaced, basically. Caseyby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Matching 7D to Sony Z1U footage - 13 years agoI have a situation here where the footage is 95% Sony Z1U and 5% Canon 7D. I need to get the 7D to match the Sony footage as close as possible...realizing that the Sony is 1080i60 and the Canon is 1080p30. Is there a way to get the 7D footage to match the Sony footage without looking too out of place? Thanks! Casey Petersenby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Garbled audio on playback - 13 years agoForgive me for not using very technical terms here, but when I have my Sony Z1U camera connected via Firewire to my MacBook Pro using FCP 6, OSX Tiger, and I have the Video Playback going through Apple Firewire NTSC, and the Audio Playback as Firewire DV, the audio coming into the camera is garbled, distorted and I think higher pitched. The project is using just the DV NTSC 48kHz preset, and tby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Color bar standards - 13 years agoI am editing a piece that is going to be broadcast. The guidelines say "the current preferred HD color bars @ 75%, under no circumstances give 100% bars as the video reference". I need to figure this out fairly quickly and haven't been able to get a hold of my contact. I'm wondering if this means (in FCP-speak), that I go to "More Bars and Tones" and change it to &quoby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Re: Export to AVI problems - 13 years agoOkay...after 15 minutes, the original AVI opened on the Mac. I tried using MPEG Streamclip with Motion JPEG A, and it works fine...I'm just a little murky on the other settings...I'm tired and my brain doesn't want to function properly. Settings for Frame Size and Field Dominance? Thanks!by CaseyPetersen - Café LA Export to AVI problems - 13 years agoI have a customer who has a 45 minute VHS tape that he wants converted to an AVI file. I captured it through FCP and tried exporting to AVI using QuickTime conversion. The process took about 45 minutes and I ended up with an AVI that I can't play on any PC (or on my Mac, for that matter). I must have something wrong in the codec, but I haven't had to do AVI before, so I probably did somethinby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Re: OT: Backup to DVD -- larger files - 13 years agoThanks treatment! I was planning on only spanning on an individual file basis...plus having multiple copies of the discs should help me if one disc becomes unreadable. Caseyby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Re: OT: Backup to DVD -- larger files - 13 years agoI like Andy's idea...I didn't know Toast would do that. I tried it out on a large file and it worked great! Derek--I'm not in any hurry with this stuff...I'm backing up the individual tapes from my wedding to QuickTime files, since my wedding was 8 years ago, I want to do that before the tapes become unplayable. My question is, is there a way to automatically split large QuickTime files (or any format) to fit on a standard DVD? Thanks in advance! Unless there's some cable to convert an HDMI or component signal to firewire. There's HDMI and component outputs on the DVR, but I only have a firewire input.by CaseyPetersen - Café LA Re: Getting footage off cable DVR - 14 years agoTimes like these I wish I had a capture card! I've just been using my built-in firewire port.by CaseyPetersen - Café LA Getting footage off cable DVR - 14 years agoThere was a TV broadcast that I recorded on my DVR that I would like to use in a production (don't worry, we have permission). I was wondering if anyone knows a way I could get that into FCP in HD. If we can't, that's okay, but if we can, then that would be nicer. We're on a bit of a time crunch and this is a last minute request...so there's no time to contact the network. Thanks! The dropouts on the tape look like the video and audio pauses for a second or two and then resumes, having missed those 1-2 seconds.by CaseyPetersen - Café LA Does cable quality really make a difference? - 14 years agoI'm wondering if the quality of the firewire cable I use coming from the Mac to the camera (deck) makes a difference when doing a Print to Video. Occasionally, I will get a dropout on the tape when doing a Print to Video on an HDV project, and I'm curious to know if this issue could be anything other than deck related. This explains a lot, but also leaves me with a few more questions. So basically what you're saying is that 30p is never going to look "good" (non-jittery) on a standard TV set because the TV will treat it as it would 60i video, because of what happens at 3/59.94ths on your final illustration. Caseyby CaseyPetersen - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: HDV woes continue...need better workflow - 14 years agoOops...tried this in a real world situation and more than just a 15 second clip. The HDV to ProRes conversion turned it into progressive scan apparently...even though I'm sure the settings were for interlaced, so the test was not a full success. Back to the drawing board! Caseyby CaseyPetersen - Café LA Need help fixing audio that is clipping - 14 years agoI got some footage from someone else, it was a single speaker with a wireless, but the wireless was a little too hot and was clipping occasionally. Caseyby CaseyPetersen - Café LA LiveType question - 14 years agoHere's a question...why is it that if I create a file in LiveType with the same settings as my FCP sequence (HDV1080i60), when I drop the .IPR file on the timeline, it still needs to be rendered (it is orange/UNLIMITED for rendering). I tried exporting it as a QuickTime, but it still does the same thing...orange. I went into Compressor and converted that file into ProRes and ProRes HQ (for the sake of argument), then I took all three clips and converted them to MPEG2 using DVD Best Quality 90 minutes.
