cineon converter_filter - 15 years agoHi, I always turn to this forum for certain questions. I am completing an animation project and would like some feedback regarding my use of the cineon converter in After Effects. My work flow is to create drawings/paintings in photoshop which go to Flash. I animate in Flash and export sections to After Effects where I I can manipulate the animation further. I discovered the the "cineon cby John Anderson - Café LA Re: image sequences into after effects/animation problem - 15 years agoBen King Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When you are exporting flash are you actually > changing the Flash project settings to 30fps > first? However even when I export from Flash at 30fps AE still see it as a 5sec clip. I'll add that exporting directly from Flash into Quicktime Animation codec works well and is hassle free. However, it looks like the PNG files into AE have a slightly better quality. My eyes might be playing tricksby John Anderson - Café LA image sequences into after effects/animation problem - 15 years agoHi, I always turn to this forum whenever I am totally stumped. Last month several members recommended that I try using image sequences from Flash into After Effects or Motion and render out to Quicktime from there. These Quicktime go into FCP. I have been experimenting with my students, and in my own projects as well, with good results. However, I recently ran into a problem that has me bafflby John Anderson - Café LA Re: Image sequences for animation - 16 years agoThanks Clay, I tried putting image sequences into both AE and Motion. It was a breeze. I never considered this approach but I like the quality retained in the image. I'm not sure about assembling all the clips in AE or Motion. I like to move things around spontaneously and FCP always provides a way to make editing fluid. Again, I'll just have to test it out. One thing I left out of my originalby John Anderson - Café LA Re: Image sequences for animation - 16 years agoHey Everyone, I really appreciate the information. I will need to try the " image sequence" approach in both AE and Motion even though I am pretty comfortable in AE. Once I experiment I'm sure I'll have more questions. One thing I am little confused about: When the final sequences are dropped into FCP for the final edit, what are the main sequence settings for the timeline? Oby John Anderson - Café LA Image sequences for animation - 16 years agoHi, I'm a college studio art teacher who also makes animated films. I recently started working with small groups of students creating all types of experimental animation. We use Mac computers and Final Cut pro. I have always experimented with different sequence settings in FCP and Quicktime. However , I now would like to give my students a good starting point for exporting their work and creaby John Anderson - Café LA sound is garbled&scratchy/Print to Video - 16 years agoI have a Mac G5 - FCP 4.5 and a Sony 2100 mini DV camera. Usually I can get my camera to connect for Print to Video but today has been a challenge. I trashed the preferences and made sure everything was turned on in the right sequence. I am running a Mac G5, FCP 4.5 and I have a Sony VX2100. I haven't done this this in awhile so I thought I was a little rusty but after four hours I am missing something critical. After looking up possible solutions in my manuals etc., I trashed the DVD player preferences before I shut everything down last night and whatdoyouknow everything works fine now! I recently dowloaded some Apple updates that included security code for FCP and DVDSP so maybe there was glitch. There is tutorial on Lynda.com by Larry Jordan that was very helpful. I now set my bit rate for encoding between 5.5 to 7.2. It used to be between 4.0 and 7.5 or 8.0. I did try using Compressor but for some reason on this project the results were pretty bad. The solution that works for this project (Made in Flash) was to export as a Quicktime Movie with the compression set at none. The project was created in Flash and exported at 720x480 using the Animation codec in Quicktime. These Quicktimes were all edited in FCP 4.5. I will start my files at 720x540 in the future as that seems like a good format for what I'm doing even though I probably should think about HD formats as well. I have spent the day experimenting with all the different combinations for exporting my film. They all seem good. I think the vector qualities of Flash stretch easily into different shapes. I exported it in both 720x540 and 720x480. Both look good, however, I have read recently that some professional animators start in Flash with a 720x540 format and export into Final Cut Pro aby John Anderson - Café LA Re: Capturing 24p Footage - 17 years agoThanks Tim, I'm trying to help out my son who came to me with this problem. Johnby John Anderson - Café LA Re: Exporting using Animation Codec - 17 years agoI just used the Photo-jpeg and it looks great. The file size is at least a third the size of Animation, which is also great. However, I need to ask a few other questions. Since I am exporting from FCP 4.5 what are the the correct sequence settings for Photo-jpeg.
