Re: Audio Edit- Viewer Playhead controls Timeline Playhead - 15 years agoThank you Derek and Strypes! FCP is a never ending journey of learning and humbleness that there's always people out there who will know it better than you :-pby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Audio Edit- Viewer Playhead controls Timeline Playhead - 15 years agoMy God Strypes, you just saved me hours and hours of frustration! Thank you!!! I really need to take a class in FCP :-p Totally self-taught.by hanguolaohu - Café LA Audio Edit- Viewer Playhead controls Timeline Playhead - 15 years agoI'm doing a transcript of my movie, and have a pretty basic question when editing audio. I have an audio clip in the timeline and I want to know the timecode of the exact frame when I begin speaking. If I double the audio clip in the timeline, it opens the clip in the Viewer where I can see a large waveform and find the exact frame easily. Now the problem is the timecode is according to that pby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: [OT] External media drive - Backup with Time Capsule - 15 years agoBoy, you guys are passionate about RAID. Thanks for the feedback! Actually I misquoted myself, the drive will be more for media storage and not be used for pro video work. You guys are kinda hardcore when it comes to your hardware so I should watch what I say more carefully. The Caldigit VR looks awesome, I wish they had that before I bought my Lacie and G-tech drives years ago. Anyway, I waby hanguolaohu - Café LA [OT] External media drive - Backup with Time Capsule - 15 years agoHi, I have a Macbook Pro with 250GB HD and I want to get an external hard drive to store my large video files. I already have a 1TB Time Capsule that I use to backup my laptop. I would like the external drive to be big, either 1TB or 1.5TB, so I don't believe the Time Capsule would be large enough to completely back up the laptop and the external drive. I also would like a drive that wouldby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: OT: Movie Website Mailing List - 15 years agoThanks J. Corbett! Awesome info! Best, Alexanderby hanguolaohu - Café LA OT: Movie Website Mailing List - 15 years agoI have a website for my movie in which I want to create a "Subscribe to Mailing List" option which adds e-mail addresses to a database. I'm trying to figure out a solution for that feature and maintain my database. I also want to include an "unsubscribe" link on the mass e-mails that I send out. I realize there are monthly paid e-solutions like Constant Contact, but I was wby hanguolaohu - Café LA Panasonic HDC-SD100 vs. Canon Vixia HF11 - 15 years agoMy apologies as I know this is an FCP forum, but I figured some might have experience with these cameras, and also I'm curious of each cameras' AVCHD integration with FCP. I'm debating between the Panasonic HDC-SD100 vs. Canon Vixia HF11. The use would be for recreation and as a B camera. I love my DVX-100 and was so excited about the HDC-SD100 because it has a small form factor, can recordby hanguolaohu - Café LA LA Theaters for Screening Indie Movie - 15 years agoHi, I'm looking for a theater in Los Angeles that will screen my 90 minute movie for an indie rate. Do any of you have experience with this and have recommendations? If there's a special rate for film students I would appreciate it. Thanks, Alexanderby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Hitachi vs Seagate HDs - 15 years ago5 year warranty vs. 3 years. If you buy with a credit card 1 additional year. I go with Seagates cause I get a 6 year warranty, which is an eternity in the computing world. Alexby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Markers Not Showing in Mpeg2 - 15 years agoGot it. Everything makes perfect sense. Well since I already have that 10 bit export the reference movie is only for those markers, and those markers are contained in the sequence, so I should be OK. All this is great to know for the future, as I never stop learning using FCP! Thanks again! Alexanderby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Markers Not Showing in Mpeg2 - 15 years ago1 more question: If I use the Quicktime Movie that's NOT a self-contained movie, and export an Mpeg2 using Compressor is there a quality difference with a movie that IS self-contained? Could any potential problems arise? If so, that'll save me a ton of drive space as I've been outputting several 10 bit quicktimes that are 130GB a piece! I keep having to buy more :-pby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Markers Not Showing in Mpeg2 - 15 years agoDAMN Nested Sequences!!! Sorry for that rant. I have so many problems with nested sequences, they drive me crazy! Thank you again Nick, you found the EXACT root of the problem! The problem was I put my chapter markers in my original sequence, where they show up as GREEN. I did this because it's easier to find cuts, as opposed to the nest which is just a big solid block. Ken Stone said "choose "Chapter Markers" for iDVD or choose "DVD Studio Pro Markers" for DVDS SP. Basically I want to have chapter markers on my DVD. My problem is my FCP chapter markers are not showing up in the Mpeg2 file that I insert into DVDSP. Somewhere along the chain, I must be doing something wrong. 1. Within FCP, I made sure that all my markers were "chapter" markers. 2. I theby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Subtitle 10 Bit Uprez - 15 years agoWhat I love about Nick is he makes complicated things simple and finds efficient solutions that WORK! You are AWESOME Nick! Joe, this Magic Bullet software sounds great, but I guess because I'm not going to HD I'm not sure whether I could use it for my titles? I don't have very much time to redo my hundreds of subtitles unless they could be imported and redone as a batch in some kind of software. I've been told that FCP's tby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Subtitle 10 Bit Uprez - 15 years agoOK, I've done some tests. My theory is that I made 2 mistakes: A. I made a nest of my DV sequence including titles and dropped that on a 10 bit sequence. B. I exported a Quicktime movie without rendering that DV sequence nest. So I believe my workflow solution is: 1. Nest only the picture of my DV sequence. 2. Drop that nest onto a 10 bit sequence. 3. Copy and paste FCP text titles froby hanguolaohu - Café LA Re: Subtitle 10 Bit Uprez - 15 years agoWow Jeff, thanks! That was very informative! My question is, if I nest the DV sequence including titles and then place it into a 10 bit sequence, does it automatically uprez the titles to 10 bit? Because I tried this and when I zoom into the lettering there is some white aliasing in the yellowby hanguolaohu - Café LA FCP 10 bit Export vs. Kona's - 15 years agoI was told by a post manager that I can download a Kona codec to do 10 bit uncompressed 4:2:2 Quicktime export on my mac even though I don't have a Kona card.
