Re: Leopard and FCS - 16 years agoTo clarify, those clients still on 5.1 need me to be able to take projects, make my changes and deliver a 5.1 project back to them. The rest of my machines are FCS2 and I whole heartedly agree that the upgrade was well worth the $500.by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 6 - 16 years agoI thought it was a max of 2GB... I know that 6 has the same limit as 5.X tho for sure...by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Leopard and FCS - 16 years agoHe may have to support legacy projects under 5.1. I keep 1 system setup with 5.1 Tiger just for that reason.by bscenefilms - Café LA Redrock M2 - 16 years agoSince this was discussed at the last meeting, I thought I would post here to let folks know, who might be considering this, that I am posting a 2 part review of the product over at my blog at Yeah, it's not FCP specific so feel free to move this post to a more appropriate forum if you need to, Michael. Was not really sure where a good spot would be for this. Part 2 of the review will be uby bscenefilms - Café LA Leopard and FCS - 16 years agoI am blogging my experience upgrading Tiger to Leopard and testing the current FCS and Adobe suite if anyone is considering the upgrade, feel free to check it out and if there is any specific item you want me to test for, leave a comment at the blog.by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Any good recomendations for a Soundtrack 2 tutorial? - 16 years agoIf you are interested in doing surround, this is decent:by bscenefilms - Soundtrack Pro Panafest - 16 years agoI attended the event yesterday. I have a small writeup over at my blog if anyone is interested:by bscenefilms - News and Announcements Re: AVID restructures, Cuts staff - TV Technology-- Aug 8 - 16 years agoThe Ikea plank analogy is an interesting one... Let's say I need a cabinet to put in a bedroom so that I can just use it to store old computer parts, cables etc. I go to Ikea, find what I need, take it home and assemble it and fill it with my junk. It works. It solves the problem albeit at a very basic level. But it does work (I have this exact thing that has been serving it's purpose forby bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Smoooooooth cam - 16 years agoAgreed, Nick. I did it that way so that the zoom in was very clear. You can also see the degredation of the quality in the zoomed in version. If I was more careful with the camera and a bit steadier, it would partially mitigate this effect.by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Are Apple Loops public domain? - 16 years agoRoyalty Free can be license specific. There can be specific restrictions placed on the use of the item that is tagged as Royalty Free. Depends on the source of the material. Public domain, however, has a specific legal definition: Public domain comprises the body of knowledge and innovation (especially creative works such as writing, art, music, and inventions) in relation to which no perby bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Are Apple Loops public domain? - 16 years agoThey are royalty free. Not public domain.by bscenefilms - Café LA Smoooooooth cam - 16 years agoIf you have not tried it out yet, it's a real hoot. I did a quick test of it and thought it was pretty impressive. I posted an A/B video of it over at my blog if you are interested. Excuse the crappy YouTube qualityby bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Travelling and checking gear... - 16 years agoThe starter pistol is a great idea. In the US, you don't need a carry permit to transport a gun. Most states require a carry permit if you are going to carry a firearm on your person. And all of the airlines here are required to allow you to transport a licensed firearm, declared in your luggage. International is obviously a different situation. I am just talking about here in the US. I hby bscenefilms - Café LA Re: My Friend offlined in Premier! - 16 years agoI tried to move a DV capture file from Premiere Pro 2 on a PC to FCP 5.1. No dice. No idea about PPCS3 tho.by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Michael Horton in latest DV magazine - 16 years agoNice article, Michael! Huge congrats.by bscenefilms - Café LA Travelling and checking gear... - 16 years agoNot sure where to post this so I will let Michael move it if this is a bad spot for it... If you travel and need to check luggage that contains gear (camera, Macbook etc.) you take a huge risk in losing that gear. But I have found a foolproof way to ensure that you never lose a checked bag with your gear. Buy a gun. I am serious. Buy the cheapest peice of crap handgun you can find. If you missed the meeting you might want to check it out:by bscenefilms - Color So an alternate login fixed my issue... - 16 years agoOf FCP just dying when I launched it. So is there an accepted method of tracking down what is wrong with my normal login so that I can correct it?by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: OT: Editor relocating to L.A. area - 16 years agoIn addition to the jobs board here, peruse Craig List as well. There are a lot of online networking resources out there for indie stuff as well like meetup.com. Good luck to you - Like folks have said - TONS of FCP editors in the LA area. (Real Media Variable Bitrate...) Filext ROCKS!by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Reconnecting Subclips all at once - 16 years agoYes. FCP looks for the previous file name (of the WHOLE tape). It doesn't even look for the new name, even though FCP created the new name to match the subclip in media manager.by bscenefilms - Café LA Reconnecting Subclips all at once - 16 years agoAfter I make a bunch of subclips out of whole tapes that I've captured, I then need to reconnect the clips to their new media. So far I've been doing this one clip at a time - very tedious. Obviously, the smaller media files have new names now, and they match the subclip names. Can I reconnect them to their new media files all at once? Their new media files were created using the Media Managerby bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Prores 4:2:2... - 16 years agoAhhhh OK - so it's not a bit rate at all. So by your explanation, 4:2:2 is sampled at 52Mhz, 26Mhz, 26Mhz respectively - That about right?by bscenefilms - Café LA Re: Location for HD transfer - 16 years agoMight try Alpha Dogs in Burbank...by bscenefilms - Café LA Prores 4:2:2... - 16 years agoThe 4:2:2 describes the number of bits used for sampling as in 4 Luma, 2 CbCr, 2 CbCr for a total of 8 bits. Yet ProRes is stated to support 10 bits. Where are the missing bits? Or are the 10 bits attributed to something else entirely?by bscenefilms - Café LA |
