Re: FCS 2 Book Recommendation Needed - 15 years agoI'll second Derek's mention of the "Apple Pro Training Series" set of books published by Peachpit. They are the books used for Apple certification exams and some of the best (and sometimes only) books on learning and using the Final Cut Studio applications. You may want to check out Ripple Training (rippletraining.com) and Lynda.com for video-based training (among other sources)...by D-Mac - Café LA Re: ProKit update from Apple - 15 years agoWhenever these kinds of updates come out, I usually download the standalone updater and then peek inside the installer package with Pacifist... In this case, all of the changes go into the frameworks surrounding browsing and accessing content from the iLife applications (iPhoto, iTunes music, etc.)... Now, the QT update is another story... ;-)by D-Mac - Café LA Re: Strange grain with HDV footage. - 15 years agoThe situation you've described sounds like one I experienced when I first got my Sony HVR-Z1U, and more recently with what a friend unexpectedly experienced. One of the "features" of the Z1 is that even when in manual mode, any setting you don't actually "touch," or manually set, can be varied automatically by the camera. Switching to another codec just to render YUV isn't a good long-term, or permanent, solution. I have been working with HDV, DVCProHD, and uncompressed SD sequences recently, so I didn't notice what triggered the issue (update to a 3rd party tool, or updates to FCP, QT, or Mac OS X). It's strange that the codecs that weren't allowing the proper render choices, DVby D-Mac - Café LA Help Needed with Render Quality Settings in Video Processing Tab... - 15 years agoIn a sequence with DV/DVCPro-NTSC, DV-PAL, DVCPro-PAL, or DVCPro50 (NTSC or PAL) set as the compressor, the Video Processing tab option is stuck on "Always render in RGB." Every choice is dimmed. I am running FCP 5.1.4 and QT 7.1.5 (PPC). I deleted preferences. I deleted the FCP installation and reinstalled FCP from the 5.1 disc (and applied the update). I reinstalled QT 7.1.5 fromby D-Mac - Café LA |
