QuickTime Player does not provide "frame accurate" playback. It adjusts playback frame rate and visual fidelity, depending on system resources, etc. It does keep the audio playback accurate (for the most part). This is its normal behavior ( a way to dynamically adjust frame rate and visual quality over a vast spectrum of computer setups while maintaining the overall "presentation&qby D-Mac - Café LA

Ben, I will just have to disagree with you (or not). The reports are very sporadic. If we just look at the moderators here, for example, not all of them report the issue. If it was a clearcut situation, many more people would be able to replicate and confirm the issue. For example, the problem with line feed characters in exported XML files (for text generators) was something that everyoneby D-Mac - Café LA

I would avoid companies like Aunsoft. They are spamware companies (more interested in getting your personal info than anything else). There are a few of these kinds of companies, who are not well-established and operate from shady locales. Caveat emptor. Clipwrap, on the other hand, comes from a known company and works well. You probably don't want to use a VGA connection, as it is analog and lower quality than a digital signal. I'd suggest getting a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and connecting that via a DVI cable to your LG display. -Daveby D-Mac - Café LA

I have been using the current versions of the FCS apps, along with OS X 10.6.6 for a couple of weeks now, without any of the issues reported here and elsewhere. Has anyone who has experienced the "ProKit issue" done a clean install of OS X and FCS, with all updates, and then replicated the same issues? I mention this only because some of the comments here imply that this issue isby D-Mac - Café LA

Mitch, You may try opening that file in VLC or MPEG Streamclip and use their "get info" features to see what kind of video and audio is inside that file. Or, you could try using MediaInfo Mac or VideoSpec (free apps) to "get info" on the troublesome .mov file. April, A few things for you to consider: How full is your startup drive (provide actual numbers and a percentage, e.g., 250 GB out of 300 GB or 83% full)? When you launched FCP after reinstalling it, it may have been asking you about your capture device (via your settings) and that it was missing. Harry, As Derek recommended, you want to use the Find command in the Finder (command-F). However, Spotlight (and the Find command) doesn't search in system folders by default. You will have to click on the "plus" button to add another search criteria. Usually the default criteria is "Kind". If you click on that pop-up menu, you can select "Other..." at the bottom.by D-Mac - Café LA

From your screen shot it appears that the computer doesn't "see" the camera, at all. I have heard that sometimes the camera will work for capturing in DV mode but not in HDV, as the FireWire port branches to different circuits for each type of video signal. So, if the HDV circuit is blown, the camera would still work for DV footage. Anyway, here's a nice video that outlines the enby D-Mac - Café LA

Bill, Thanks for the info... Depending on your setup, I would suggest that you use the ProRes 422 codec, not any kind of HDV (you probably don't need to use the (HQ) variant of ProRes 422). Using ProRes will greatly improve the look of your exported video (and text). I did a quick look at the BrightSign website. Do you know exactly which model will be used and the exact display?
