WAY OT! old 3/4" tapes - 16 years agoWe have a couple hundred old 3/4" tapes that we want to get rid of properly, any suggestions? Thanx, Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: iMac vs. a Pro tower - 16 years agoNobody said it, but your voice over looks great Travis! Sounds pretty too!!! Kevinby kevin - Café LA bug upon "send to FCP" - 16 years agoWhen I finish grading a sequence in Color and then use the send to command I get an error message. Any one else getting that? Kevinby kevin - Color Re: monitoring via decklink pro hd - 16 years agoOK I get it RTFM. Its in the pref although finding them isn't sstraight forward. Kevinby kevin - Color monitoring via decklink pro hd - 16 years agoSo I'm working on a dv ntsc show, when I send the sequence to color I can't get any signal to my dell 24" monitor from the HDlink from blackmagic. Any suggestions? Kevinby kevin - Color Re: can't find "lens flare" effect - 16 years agoThe "good" lens flare filter is located in the "video generators" area. Just superimpose it above the clip you want in on, change the composite mode on the lens flare to travel matte luma I believe and you off and running. It works great! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Chroma Green vs. Digi Green - 16 years agoI don't know about the green, but DV Matte Blast is the best plug-in for the money i've found for doing green screen work. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Beginning Colorist Roadmap - 16 years agoBlackmagic card out to a hd link to a pro monitor. The Panasonic 1900 (?) I believe is one that many are looking at, it goes for around $3500 US. Good luck! Kevinby kevin - Color Re: HDV 1080i60 Export Produces QTs with Jitter - 16 years agoI don't have an answer, but I found for me the best looking was to export a self contained movie in HDV and then use compressor to do the conversion to the end result I wanted, dv ntsc or whatever. One thing you didn't say is if you are using an external monitor through a blackmagic card or aja or your computer monitor for viewing. That can make diference on how it will show quicktime videos.by kevin - Café LA Re: HDV sequence "export using QT conversion" sync problems - 16 years agoDon't export using compressor out of FCP, too many issues doing that. Export a self contained movie including audio and video and pull that into compressor for reducing the size. Can't figure out the wierd frame size issue. I believe you can reset the size to fit the video in compressor. I've pulled previews straight into iDVD 6 as HDV files and sent those for review, just select anamorphic aby kevin - Café LA Re: Problems batching HDV through firewire on FCP 5.1.4 - 16 years agoYou don't need to capture to a "raid" for HDV, if you have a second internal drive set that up as your scratch disk and capture to that. HDV has about the same "size" requirments as DV so you don't need a Raid for editing or capturing it. Your computer and how the raid is connected would be where I'd look for problems. If it is over a network and not connected directly to yourby kevin - Café LA Re: Missing function? - 16 years agoNot that that will stop me using it - just - its not as tightly Appleafied as the other apps yet Very true, a great product that needs some finishing. Kevinby kevin - Color Re: Why Am I still Rendering - 16 years agoCheck the project properties when you start your project, the default one isn't ntsc dv 3:2. Thats probably the culprit. Good luck, Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Missing function? - 16 years agoYep, you can only get to color by selecting the sequence in your browser, then the whole sequence will show up. It indicates that as well in the "tutorial" that came with FCP 2. This is the weakest group of tutorials I've seen from apple. Kevinby kevin - Color Re: Output from color - 16 years agoThats what I thought but wasn't certain on. Thanks for your help! Kevinby kevin - Color Output from color - 16 years agoSo I have some clips I want to use and color grade before putting them in my project, how do I output them after I do all the color grading and end up with a quicktime file? Probably basic but I've read all the info and there is no simple "do this". Kevinby kevin - Color Re: FCP, keying, after effects, shooting HVX-200 720pn or 1080p - 16 years agoDv matte pro is fantastic, or dv matte blast, either one you can't go wrong. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: color correction then color? - 16 years agoThanx! That was late last nite and this morning I was going to do some experimenting myself. Just playing around until my training series book shows up. Kevinby kevin - Color color correction then color? - 16 years agoSo... if I do any correction using the 3 way color correctors in FCP, do those show up when I send the sequence to color? or am I wasting my time until I get into color? Thanx, Kevinby kevin - Color Deinterlace or not? - 16 years agoOK, I'm totally blown away by color and what it can do. I'm working on some old footage, 3/4" umatic, that I've imported and now I want to know if I should use the de interlace funcion in color. What and when should we use this for? Thanx, Kevinby kevin - Color Re: HD-DVD Hot Menus - 16 years agoSo what kind of HD disk will Studio Pro make? I was excited to see the info online as it stated you could drag and drop HD footage over standard footage, etc., instead of having to do a whole new project. Kevinby kevin - DVD Studio Pro Re: DV footage in HDV project - 16 years agoI don't have access to a "real" HD set up. I work in HDV to future proof the things I'm working on I work for a non-profit with no money. When I finish a project, look at it on a 42" dlp hdtv it looks good, not as good as Planet Earth on Discovery, but good. That being said I have used 25 year old 3/4" footage that has been up rezed using compressor in some shows I have worby kevin - Café LA Re: HDV batch capture and copture now - 16 years ago25% free doesn't really say how much free space you have. Try capturing using the camera as a deck and see what happens. If you already have twenty hours captured my first guess would be that your drive is too full. Good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: old school - 16 years agoi DVD has always worked fine for me as long as the show is under 59 minutes in length. Don't rule out the possibility that your friends pc can't play -R disks. Good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Quickest means of creating a DVD from a HDV sequence? - 16 years agoExport as a self contained movie, drop it into iDVD 6 and select anamorphic, it'll do the rest. 40 minute show will take 45 minutes to make after you've exported the show. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Chroma Keying - 16 years agoDV Matte Blast. Best money I ever spent to get a good chroma key. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: FCP, MAC, and Anti-Virus software - 16 years agoIn 12 years of working on and owning Macs I had 1 virus 7 years ago from a client rthat sent me an infected floppy disk. (remember those?) Thats it! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: UPDATE: Can anyone make me feel better about Mac? - 16 years agoI had that kind of problem a few years back and it turned out it was a hard drive going bad. Hope thats not true for you but it is something else to check on. Good luck, Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: CAPTURING HDV from SONY HDR FX1 into FCP HD 4.5 - VCR deck - 16 years agoYou have to upgrade to FCP 5 to edit HDV. Good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA |
