Damn....by Eric Harnden - Café LA FCS3 -- Final Cut Studio 3 - 15 years agoI, like a lot of you, I'm sure, spend a lot of time looking around the web and doing research on FCP and new technology, etc. On scarletuser.com, the new forum for the upcoming 3K red camera, I ran across these post pieces that started my mind a' racin': Member: "Personally, I have, like, and use Final Cut Studio.... on an iMac G5. For me, when this problem occurred for me, since I had just gotten the system off of another person, I just created a new user on the machine and FCP then started up fine. (I had the same setup as you, John.)by Eric Harnden - Café LA Re: Quicktime pro file size issue - 15 years ago> Frame reordering: yes Pretty sure that should be "no". > Encoding: Multi-pass I think you can go with single-pass here. You are using QTPro to do the conversions, right? I still say try the dvcCast! trial if you want to mess with different sizes and bitrates. You can do a ton of test rates all at once and see what you like best with the "lab" sectionby Eric Harnden - Café LA Re: Quicktime pro file size issue - 15 years agoWhat kind of file did you start with? And yeah, lay person, that second "and sh*t" should have been "from shinola"! I would recommend trying the free trial of dvcCast! from dvcreators.net to create your jumbo QT movie.by Eric Harnden - Café LA Re: Hello from Calgary - 15 years agoShane Ross Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Everyone knows that I am an internet software bot. > No one can post on as many forums as I do, and > get any work done, I KNEW IT!!!by Eric Harnden - Café LA Re: Apple's FCS World Tour - They shared our email addresses!!!!! - 15 years agoWow! I have some new relatives up that-a-way (by way of marriage) and went to visit there not too long ago. One is a teacher up there and I got to see the school where he works. He works at a middle school and what surprised me was that they are already teaching the kids Mac creative programs in his school! I can only imagine he meant LAFCPUG, since these were LAUSD awards. It was cool to see support for video creation in schools with this award show and neat to hear our group mentioned! I was able to lock mine down to the one admin user (that was as easy as adding two lines of code to the config file.), but I don't know how to only allow X users. It seems that it should be pretty simple though.by Eric Harnden - Café LA Re: New Improved FAQ Wiki - 15 years agoOh yes, this is great. Wiki's are great. I have one I use for my own site and we use one at work which serves many uses, not to mention wikipedia all of which run using the same software you have here. Great job Guys (and Gal)! I'm assuming this wiki is a moderator only wiki that you will keep adding to, right? Very cool! Might try looking for that. Amazon has a "Peachpit" Forum: or a "Peachpit press" forum: Look pretty dead though. Peachpit page: says, "Already own this? In one of my first posts on this forum, I actually talked a little about buying my setup. But you're right, #2 is the answer. It was from a working studio. My whole system was an awesome find and at an even more awesome price. Guess what? I didn't give that vendor my email address. In fact, I very much don't want to support that vendor, because they were a no-show at the LAFCPUG Meeting. The reason they no-showed... he had to help his mother-in-law move. Wow! How professional! I don't think REDBOX is the problem. "This year's" Oscar winners are long out of the theatre. The whole cycle is much faster these days. I saw all of them at the $2 theatre, AT OSCAR TIME. I might add, too, that as someone new to editing and the "tool", I am not tired of "tool talk". As far as the processor speed, it says you need 1.25GHz or faster. Would a dual 1 work then? I would love to buy the FCS2 upgrade if I can use it at all. We charge $50 for tape repair, then $75 to capture a 60min DV tape to DV quicktime file on customer supplied hard drive. File will be 13 Gigs or so. I have just been given advice from someone (whom I think knows what they are talking about) recommending getting a G4 laptop, while at the same time saying to get FCS2.
