oh, well, maybe I should explain my situation then: I've teached all I know about editing myself, got the software, all the books and a great mac pro. What I do is cutting ripped movies into trailers (viewable on youtube) and music videos to prepare myself to get a job here in Germany or (preferably) in LA. I got a Harmony Audio thingy and my bf thought it would make putting out to 5.1 possible.by Katrin1980 - Café LA

oh, well, I don't. I just have a Teufel surround system. And I thought if I just created enough tracks in FCP and tell the system to use 5.1 while outputting to DVD it would work. Sorry for asking so stupid questions and thanks for your patient answers!by Katrin1980 - Café LA

I've just watched a tutorial from the newsletter about 5.1 outputting in FCP but I'm still not sure how to do it. To explain: I don't have 5.1 system up in here in my office but downstairs in my home cinema/screening room... In the tutorial they simply adjusted the sequence settings to 5.1 and then assigned the single tracks with an output. Is this how it works? Which settings would I need forby Katrin1980 - Café LA

I haven't made it to last SuperMeet but as an European I can just say: don't go to Paris or Rome. The French don't like Americans (or any other people) and they will not only charge you more they will try to ignore you. Rome I love, but since you mentioned pricing...I've been there like 5 times or so and since I'm living in Munich I can tell you that Rome is even MORE expensive in some places tby Katrin1980 - Café LA

I have a Mac Pro with 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core and 14 GB memory, a cinema display and a second monitor. I'm currently working in Motion creating an animation with music, camera movement and about 8 layers and 8 lights...all keyframed. When I reached the third layer I had to reduce render quality to draft and disable the lights to be able to keep on working. Whenever I made a move I had to wait for aby Katrin1980 - Motion

Hm, I had to improve shots of the Gardalake which always looks kinda dark and unpleasant, not blue at all...I isolated the water with the color picker, shifted the mids more towards blue and increased saturation. For most of the shots it worked fine.by Katrin1980 - Café LA

Hm, can you not just simply change the sequence settings to 23.98 and then reimport the clips in the timeline? Or would the quality suffer too much from that?by Katrin1980 - Café LA

I made a commercial last year, 20 and 30 secs. it had a total run time of 20 and 30secs but to be sure I edited the voice over so that it ended one second before the clip was over.by Katrin1980 - Café LA

I know that keystroke and already tried it. it's not doing anything right now. strangely enough it only SHOWS the grades when I hit the disabling button...BUT it doesn't upgrade any changes whether I have the button on or off. I'll restart the programby Katrin1980 - Color

hey, I'm currently getting familiar with Color and I have some problems here. I just openend a project I worked on a couple of days ago and it doesn't show my grades anymore...I mean they're still there but the image (which is shown on my second monitor) doesn't upgrade. I tried reconnecting the media, enabling and disabling the secondaries. the only thing that helped was quitting the program andby Katrin1980 - Color

hey ben! well, we'll shoot in L.A. our friend got us a fine TV crew for not too much money. maybe he's got slates as well :-) yeah, we got a first budget now, three days of shooting but it need to be lowered a little more. a lot of compositing work, less work for me but hey, I need the work experience. Guys, thank you very much for all the helpful tipps. I figured it'd be easier just to play the music in the background while shooting to have SOME indication of where to put the video but I thought it'd be considered too unprofessional to edit that way...that I had to deal with three TCs. Newbie with questions about Timecodes in Music Videos - 16 years ago
Hi guys, I'm supposed to edit a music video in September and I'm trying to prepare myself for that challenge. I've done several lessons and classes and currently I'm trying to understand how to sync video and audio for editing in Music videos. I've done that with the book Advanced Editing Techniques.
