Re: soundtrack pro roundtrip problem - 14 years agonot sure what "best practice" is - but in the same situation I don't save as stap file - I save as aif (there's a drop down in the save dialog) and then I drag the saved file from the finder back into my timeline. I love soundtrack pro (esp "remove noise" process) but I don't fully trust roundtripping between FCS apps. But hey. Maybe that's just me.by drtuzi - Café LA Group Selection Tool (gg) - 14 years agoIs there any advantage (or hidden power) to using the group selection tool as opposed to marquee selecting with the default selection tool? I've looked in the documentation and can't figure out what else the group selection does. Or why you would bother using it. Am I missing something? Thanksby drtuzi - Café LA Re: Studio Monitors for FCP - 14 years agoTo take the price-point even LOWER... I was on a harsh budget a while back and needed new speakers for a big project - I bought a pair of M-Audio Studiophile Av 40's - thinking I would upgrade six weeks later when I got paid... I still have them. Very clean. Even though I have the money, I see no reason to upgrade at this point.by drtuzi - Café LA Re: timeline settings for Apple ProRes 422 + suggestion on tapeless camera that records fcp friendly clips - 14 years ago>Does anyone know of another small, inexpensive tapeless camera that records files other than MP4's since Final Cut won't take the MP4 format? Um, you get what you pay for. For me, the best "low-end" tapeless FCP-compatible camera I've worked with has been the JVC GY-HM100. Reliable. Surprisingly sharp. No issues in FCP. But it's a fixed lens with 1/4 inch CCDs. It's a bug. Tried trashing prefs to no avail. Did some more digging and some intrepid Australian figured it out and posted it on an Apple discussion thread. Turns out - if your sequence begins with a FREEZE FRAME - Final Cut Pro 7 will start madly renaming clips, sequences and God knows what else or why... I check it out - and it's sharing the name of another sequence - each has entirely different content and the content is unaffected by this behavior. So I'm still open to theories and fixes. Anyway, if you're stuck with the same problem, here's what my wheels grinding in the ditch kicked up: tried exporting and re-encoding the audio in every conceivable format, from STP, from Compressor, from FCP itself - none of the re-imported audio files gave me real frame accuracy Until I laid the audio outby drtuzi - Café LA Re: Audio Waveforms off as clip progresses - 14 years agoI used ishowu - but with constant frame rate - (checked in QT info window: "playing frame rate" the issue seems to be with only the audioby drtuzi - Café LA Re: Audio Waveforms off as clip progresses - 14 years agoyeah - just exported some sound from late in the timeline to soundtrack pro - it's a disaster it reads the ins and outs completely differently than FCP I do not have frame accurate audioby drtuzi - Café LA Audio Waveforms off as clip progresses - 14 years agoUsing latest version of FCP 7, BTW... Either one, actually. I'm doing the capture. It's the output that's the sticking point.
