The Gallery Theatre, LACPUG and DMALA need a new Projector

The Los Angeles Creative Pro User Group (formerly lafcpug) and our sister group, DMALA, have been meeting monthly at the Gallery Theatre in Hollywood, a beautiful 299 seat facility, for 10 years now. Both these organizations helped gather and install all of the Audio/Visual equipment currently in use. This equipment has been very good to us and to the hundreds of filmmakers, film festivals and multimedia artists who have also used it. But this equipment is 10 years old and it's time to upgrade. The demands of modern software, cameras and yes you, require that we put the best image on the screen that we possibly can.

How much money do we need and how much have we raised so far?
The cost of the projector was $5000.00 due to the generosity of Michael Cioni and Light Iron here in Hollywood. This is a considerable savings over the current street value of $44,000.00.Adobe has donated $3500.00.

Because of the difficulty of moving this projector up the stairs and into the booth, the actual cost of this projector will be more like $7,500.00 or more. So we are at this writing about $500.00 short. This is because we will need to hire engineers to take this beast apart and put back together again. We need an electrician to install a 240 volt line. We also need extra equipment such as cables, air ducts, and who knows what else. We pledge that every dime raised will go to this projector and anything else required to make this all work. The more money we raise, the more we can upgrade.

This equipment is not just for us. It's for anyone who wants to rent this facility.
This projector and all digital equipment will be on permanent LOAN to the Gallery Theatre, which is owned and operated by the City of LA, Dept. of Cultural Affairs. It will be for EVERYONE to use including you. For the past 10 years dozens of film festivals, student filmmakers, DMALA, artists, and multimedia events have used the equipment that we have installed. If you have ever presented at LACPUG or DMALA, you have used this equipment.If LACPUG, DMALA or the Gallery Theatre ever meant anything to you, give back and donate.
