- A Conversation with Academy Award Nominated Film Editor Jay Cassidy
We welcome film editor Jay Cassidy to the SuperMeet. Jay will discuss his career editing films, the craft of editing. Jay was just nominated for an Academy Award and a A.C.E. Eddy award for Best Film Editing for the movie SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK. There will be time for questions.

About Jay Cassidy
JayCassidy A.C.E. began his career as a film editor in the 1970s working on documentaries and political advertisements and has edited more than 30 films.

His most recent credit is SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK which was just nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Film Editing, The film also won the People's Choice Award at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival as well as being nominated for four Golden Globes and five Spirit Awards. The American Film Institute chose the film as the AFI Movie of the Year.

He has collaborated with Sean Penn on all the films Penn has directed, most notably "INTO THE WILD" (2007) for which Cassidy was nominated for an Academy Award for Film Editing. Other credits include ""AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH" (2006), which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2007, "BROTHERS" (2009), "CONVICTION" (2010) and "WAITING FOR SUPERMAN" (2010). Cassidy is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and American Cinema Editors.


- The San Francisco Debut of "TouchEdit" - Dan Lebental
TouchEdit captures the spirit of classical filmmaking while offering cutting-edge digital editing capabilities. By allowing editors to cut video using finger touch commands on tactile filmstrips, TouchEdit reconnects its users with the essence of real film. The app can also carry metadata, including timecode, and can output specialized lists to collaborate with other editing systems.

About Dan Lebental A.C.E.
Dan Lebental is a Hollywood professional editor, the founder and the designer of TouchEdit. He has been editing feature films for more than twenty years, working with some of Hollywood's top movie studios and directors. His long time collaboration with Jon Favreau has yielded hits such as ELF and the blockbusters IRON MAN and IRON MAN 2. His versatility across genres includes working on comedies, dramas, thrillers, documentaries, TV projects as represented by more than 20 movies and hundreds of music videos cut over the span of his career.

He recently completed the documentary THE ART OF CONFLICT as both Producer and Editor.

Dan Lebental is a member of American Cinema Editors and the Motion Picture Academy of Arts, has lectured on the art of editing at USC and has spoken at various international conferences.

Throughout his career Dan continues to support and mentor students and aspiring beginners taking pleasure in fostering a new generation of editors.


- Shooting Raw with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera - Marco Solorio
Marco Solorio of OneRiver Media walks us through the process of shooting RAW on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and how it differs from shooting traditional video, thus expanding maximum dynamic range while also reducing the amount of inherent noise. With a new independent short film currently in production from OneRiver Media, we get a sneak peak of some of the principle footage and how it was exposed for RAW.

About Marco Solorio
Marco Solorio is a multi-award-winning creative media developer, owner of OneRiver Media, a production and post-production facility located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Marco has been in the industry since 1991, and is a published writer from the likes of DV Magazine, Videography Magazine to countless online website reviews and articles. He's also a long-time forum host at CreativeCow.net and has presented at NAB, and many user groups. - Color Grading with DaVinci Resolve - Alexis Van Hurkman
Marco Solorio will show us footage he shot RAW with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Colorist Alexis Van Hurkman will grade it right before our eyes without a net.

In Alex's words: "I divide my time working as a writer, director, and colorist. Based in Manhattan, I do color correction for a wide variety of broadcast programming, narrative and documentary features and shorts, spots, and experimental subjects. I’ve color-corrected programs that have aired on The History Channel, The Learning Channel, BBC Four, and WNET; features and shorts I’ve graded have played at the Telluride, Sundance, Tribeca, Hamptons, and Amsterdam film festivals, among many others; video art pieces I’ve worked on have been exhibited at the NYC Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, and San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. About Jason Levine
Jason Levine, Worldwide Evangelist for Adobe, travels the globe educating and promoting the Adobe Creative Cloud and Creative Suite professional video products. Levine has conducted training/workflow sessions for some of the top broadcast corporations in Europe and Asia including BBC, RTL and SVT.  Prior to Adobe, Jason was a full-time recording engineer working in studios coast-to-coast, engineering hundreds of recordings in a multitude of genres, prompting the formation of BoodahJooMusic Publishing. Adam Wilt has been a freelance film & video tech for over 30 years, and a software geek for nearly as long.
